The steak came cut into pieces instead of one large piece of steak like they had on the example picture. Felt like the actual portion of the steak was really small as well. This maybe the late night hangry person talking but this restaurant came through for us. After an extremely long day of traveling and getting cancelled to go home multiple times. We went able to get to the hotel until extremely late at night around 10:30 pm. Nothing was really open around us and we didn't have a car. So we did ubereats! It took about an hour to prepare and get the food but it was tasty and wonderful! We both got the tacos plate and a soda. They give you your soda in the can not in a styrofoam cup like most Mexican food places will in San Antonio. We are from San Antonio so you know these tacos had to slap for us to enjoy them. This place has some of the best tacos I've ever had - and I've had a *lot* of tacos. It's a smallish place reminiscent of a hotdog stand in the arrangements. There are no tables. There is a sort of counter going all the way around the customer area where you can sit. They also have outdoor seating. The tacos are unlike those I've gotten at other places. I'm guessing this has to do with regional differences in Mexico. These tacos are large and tasty. They've got some potato in there, along with tomatoes, cilantro, and other great stuff. They make a hot sauce that again is like nothing I've had elsewhere, but which is also delicious. Be warned that it's hot. A little goes a long way... I definitely would recommend this place. The prices are reasonable and the people are friendly. It's one of my favorite "eating out" places. read more

We ordered delivery today. We were in the mood for Mexican food on a Saturday afternoon, while we binge watched monster movies. What better way for 2 senior citizens to pass time during the lock down. Anyhow, the delivery was prompt, the food was well packaged and we were very satisfied with our order. My kids begged for tacos last night. I put an order in through Grub Hub at 6:00 pm and delivery time was 45 minutes. 3 hours later, I had very hungry and cranky children. I tried repeatedly calling restaurant, who never answered the phone. My order never did arrive but I was billed. I've been on hold with Grub hub for over 20 minutes trying to get a refund. Ridiculous. I don't understand why they are taking orders online if they can't fulfill them and also not answering phone. read more

This was my 1st time here, and I am also surprised to read a few bad revues. Maybe it's from neighboring competition since there so many tacorias in the area? Who knows. I gave it 5 stars, because for a small casual mex place, it's about as good as it gets. The salsas are good enough to come here for alone. Both the verde and the red arbol chili salsa are amazing. I feel like I could write a paragraph on them alone, but I'll spare us. I nerd out to salsas as I like to make them as home, but there's is something. It's really good! I took the advice of another poster, saying they had bought the chicken verde enchiladas more than any one person to date, so I gave it a go, and they are indeed top notch! Very filling, as they are stuffed with shredded chicken. I ordered a side el pastor taco, since it was my 1st time here, but couldn't eat it, as the dinner plate was pretty filling. Ambiance was nice. Nothing fancy, but def a step up from your typical, almost hot dog style shop. Very clean. You could take a date here for a simple date night. Service was great. No issues here. After one visit, I think this would be one of the best mom & pop style Mex restaurants in the area. I recommend the place! read more

Decent service butt today was a mess. The app had crashed leaving my driver outside trying to call me for a long time. I finally heard they honk their horn. Food was cold, soup was spilled and they forgot the guacamole. The driver lady was VERY nice. I tried to get refunded partially my order. But the restaurant did not want that. I asked for partial payback in GrubHub cash but what they could do for me was 20 % off coupon next time. This order was already done with a 25 % coupon and the order was 40 dollars. This means I spent about 20 dollars in food that was thrown out since it was soggy and horrible. The rest was good with the 10 dollar soup and 10 dollar tip and fees. If I could live forever on El pastor burritos, I would. Yes that would me a fat cow real soon and nobody would marry me, but it'd be worth it. I went to this place because it was a block away from where I worked and I wasn't expecting it to be good. It was slightly expensive with $8.68 for a burrito, in that area but it was a good burrito. So I wanted to check out a Mexican restaurant in Albany Park so this happened to be one of the best in Albany Park. So I ordered a variety of tacos. Ground Beef, Steak and Al Pastor. Got my mom shrimp Quesadillas. Don't see that too often. And for the sides I ordered Guacamole, Pico and chips. So now for the Quesadillas. My mom enjoyed them. Nice sized shrimps. She liked the Guacamole though the next day it didn't look so good. The Pico was ok. Chips seemed stale. The tacos now. Ground beef was good. Could of chopped the potatoes up a bit more. I like the potato and carrot blend in GB tacos. The steak was good but a little bland. Cooked nicely though. Actually tasted better reheated. The Al Pastor was great. Nice flavor. Would I come back? We are here on the recommendation of a friend. So happy we did. We all had tacos....and it wasn't even Tuesday. I had pork tacos (not carnitas) which were excellent. The meat was bursting with flavor and was topped with onion and cilantro. Service was great. We got our food right away and our waitress was friendly. If you are looking for ambiance don't come here. Inside needed some updates but we didn't mind. It reminded me of sitting in a little taqueria in Mexico.... but it's ok to drink the water. Prices were reasonable too. read more

I ordered via grub hub around 12:30 -- food was supposed to arrive at 1:15-1:25. My husband called the restaurant at around 1:40 pm to say that we were still waiting on our order. The person who answered the phone said "it'll be there, it's on the way." She didn't ask for our order number, what our name was... nothing. I called again at 2:00 pm and spoke with someone who immediately asked me, "what do you want?" I explained that we have been waiting for an hour for our food and it still hadn't arrived. Again, the worker stated, "What is it that you want?" I explained we already placed an order and were waiting for it to arrive. She stated she would contact the driver and it would be another 15-20 minutes. 15-20 minutes later, still nothing. I chatted GrubHub and they followed up with the restaurant and stated i could either wait the additional (unknown time -- i asked multiple times how long and they could not give me an answer) or I could cancel my order. I opted to cancel my order but requested that I be fully refunded and given coupons for having to wait 2+ hours. The chat ended abruptly, she stated she was leaving and didn't address any of what I said. I called GrubHub's customer service and spoke with someone who was actually competent. She said that the restaurant didn't have a driver available which is why my order wasn't delivered. Confusing because the restaurant told me they would call their driver? I have to write a review for this place, because I'm sure at this point I've ordered their verde chicken enchiladas more than any other customer known to man. I order the meal, and get a huge side of the salsa verde, and smother everything in the sauce. The salsa verde is ridiculously good, i could drink it with a straw. The meal comes with some delicious refried beans (sometimes comes out a bit salty, but i still love them) and rice. I am a woman of habit, and I also ALWAYS get their horchata and some guacamole - but the enchiladas are the stars of the show. OH..... and before i forget - the reason i initially fell in love with this place was the POZOLE. My god. It really is amazing. The best part is it never disappoints and is delicious every time.. If you like red pozole, you will adore this soup, I guarantee it. I definitely recommend La Fogata - I have to; I am eating the enchilladas right now, watching Seinfeld, for the second time this week. read more

Decent food, but when I called to tell them they forgot my large horchata I paid $6 for, I got no answer, I had to call back the delivery woman and tell her, she said she would let them know and hung up.....never heard anything back from them and it's been about a month since I ordered. I like this place. We wanted to try it despite the negative reviews because we live right down the street. We went there for lunch. It's cute and small. I love the blue stucco walls and the pictures of Pancho Villa. The food was really good (surprise!). The ingredients were fresh and I was pleased to see my steak tacos served with lime. I would call the fare more traditional Mexican. I definitely disagree with the reviewer that prefers taco bell's imitation meat... I give La Fogata only 4 stars because there was a slightly unpleasant odor when we walked in (I stopped noticing it after 5 minutes). I suggest getting rid of the carpet in the dining room. Tile is more authentic anyway! Maybe we'll just try the takeout next. read more

Called around 8p and was told that they're busy (totally understandable) and that it'd be another 30 minutes. Fine. However, when I called 1 hour later I was told Grubhub hadn't sent over papers for them to make it.... wish I would've been told that the first time, but I told them to go ahead with the order and they told me 40 more minutes. Called 30 minutes later to check and was told AGAIN about no papers from grub hub. It has been almost 3 hours now and no tacos. Not sure why this rest have such a low stars, I went there for first time and loved it right away. I was always drive by on Montrose to go home and always got my attention how cute it look this place from the outside, since it's very small, it look very charming. I stopped by few weeks ago because one of my friend recommended to be and since we live near by we decided to walk there. It was a beautiful day in chitown, so after we ordered we decided to eat outside since they have patio. My husband ordered taco dinner plate and I ordered the sope with carne asada and chicken tacos. I can only say that flavor was bomb.com, we love every dish with ordered and even took it to go because of how full we were. Having passed this place a million times growing up in Albany Park, I never set foot into La Fogata except recently. La Fogata has neon beer signs but has the pastel colors of many Mexican restaurants in the city. On my inaugural visit to La Fogata I was coming home from class and wanted a change of pace from the usual late night spots and stopped in for what I thought would be quick Mexican. I looked through the tacos and burritos and settled on flautas because some Mexican restaurants just don't have flautas. After taking my order, I sat down and waited. While waiting, a man came up to the karaoke machine and started crooning old Mexican songs. The speakers must have been on max because I couldn't stand the volume anymore!!! No idea what was going on but after what seemed like an eternity the food came out and I took it home. At home the chicken and chorizo flautas were good and the rice and beans hit the spot. While the food was decent, I didn't find it overly stimulating and have yet to make a return visit to La Fogata. Perhaps I will come back one day when the value proposition has improved as the menu was a bit pricey for what I got, but I just found La Fogata's menu on GrubHub, so it may merit a return visit! read more

After a long day of moving we were looking for some take out near our new place. We decided La Fogata looked promising from the outside. We ordered a burrito and carne asada. After paying for my order I asked if chips and salsa were included....and of course they weren't. It would be an extra $1.50. Since I charged the bill to my credit card and didn't have any cash I thought the lady would just add them for free....but no. We got home to eat and were horribly dissatisfied with the quality of food. The burrito was a big pile of mush and I wouldn't even feed the carne asada to the dogs. The food is slightly above average but the peripherals bring it down. Walked in one Saturday and got two burritos to go. Despite the prices quoted in the menu, I got charged about a dollar more and an extra charge for the guacamole I ordered on each. Was somewhat annoyed but just wanted my food with no hassle. Also, I think there's a $10 limit on credit cards so make sure you order enough to hit that limit. About 20 minutes later, despite a restaurant with exactly two other customers in it, I received my burritos. I'm all for fresh and made to order food but a little warning would have been nice. The burritos were good but not amazing or even great. They were poorly constructed so that by the time you got to the last third, it was already falling apart. They weren't wrapped in foil either which could have mitigated this problem. So I guess I'll say that if I ended up here again for some reason, it wouldn't be the worst thing, however I wouldn't actively endeavor to return. read more

It's very rare to find good CALDOS (SOUPS) for DELIVERY. I ordered a POZOLE and CALDO DE POLLO, Both VERY GOOD. Only thing i can say is they added a pretty big piece of corn in my caldo de pollo and this lessened the sapce for the actual broth which is what we look for when ordering soup. I pass this place all the time and finally tried it.. I was a little nervous because i saw a couple negative reviews.. I was more than pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was outstanding, and it would be really really hard to beat the prices. As an app. we got the queso fondido, which was fantastic. The entire party i was with ordered something with Carne Asada, and everyone extremely enjoyed their meals.. They do not skimp on the fixings either. I ordered Tostada's they were served with Gauc, and wow! there was enough gauc for an entire order of chips!!! I will 100% be back! read more
