I'm trying all the taquerias in this area. This one is fairly new. I've found lots of solid and even some great tacos but I am particularly impressed with Taqueria El Durado 2. I got my standard order to test the waters; steak and Pastor tacos, onions and cilantro only. The good: +Steak was charcoal grilled, flavorful and tendor. A little bit of fat, but no hard bits. +Pastor was off the spit and flavorful as well. Had little grilled bits of pineapple but it wasn't too sweet. +Pastor tacos were on special for $1.50 a piece but at only $2 regular price, you can't beat it. +Service was fast The great: +Tortillas made in house +Salsas were spicy, without being too hot and complemented the tacos without overtaking over. +The grill man threw in limes without me asking. For carryout ordering at almost all taquerias, this is rare and appreciated. ++He also through in fresh grilled green onions, a grilled jalapeno and radishes on the side, again without me asking for them. This was what prompted me to write this review. I knew when I opened that foil that I going to be back. That shows the care about my taco experience. The not so great, but not worth deducting stars for: -ok so the place isn't big on ambiance. Wouldn't take a date if I were single...unless I knew the date was super down and valued flavor over Edison bulbs. (Yeah, I said it). This was my go to place for tacos and I was a loyal customer for years so it hurts me to say... I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN! I placed a pickup order for 26 tacos through grub hub and instantly notice the increase in price but proceeded to finish placing the order and received a alert from my bank for the amount paid. After about 15 mins without a confirmation from the restaurant, i decided to call to make sure they received my order. A man picked and I let him know i placed an order through grub and wanted to confirm it was received. He confirmed that it was received and told me he was very busy but will have it ready in 15 minutes. I wasnt in a hurry so i told him i would be there in 30 so he can have more time because he was busy but before I hung up,I specifically asked him for 10 green salsa and ten red, he said yes. I arrived 30 mins later and he did not even start cooking my food. He told me it would only take 15 so I patiently waited 25 mins. After he hands me the food, i asked him if the 10 green salsa and 10 red was in there, he said yes. I got to my destination to open a tray of 26 tacos with no onion or cilantro!!!!I was absolutely appalled!! Someone needs to report them to the Taco Authorities cause any mexican restaurant serving tacos with no onions or cilantro should be shut down immediately!! To make things worst he only gave me 5 green and 7 red salsa for 26 TACOS!!! Needless to say I was extremely embarrassed to serve this to anyone. It looked so low budget and un appetizing I done with this place.!!! *Wiping my hands* They can be stingy with their onion and cilantro and salsa all they want, im taking my business to a real mexican restaurant. Nobody has time to worry if they gonna get onion and cilantro or salsa with their tacos. Theres way too many taqueria in Albany that will do it right!! The food was terrible...we ordered some tacos - 2 chicken, 2 Al pastor, 1 chorizo and 1 steak. The chicken was okay at best, the Al pastor was burnt and the steak had no flavor at all. The chorizo clearly came out of a hot well, with no char on the chorizo. It has to either just be sitting there on the side of the grill, or they use really low quality chorizo. We also ordered a steak burrito - worst I've ever had...way too much beans and lettuce, not nearly enough protein. Plus the steak that was found was chewy and tasteless. The tortilla never made it to the grill, just chewy and poorly wrapped. The guacamole is awful, so many chunks of onions and tomatoes with 1/2 an avocado at best. The fries were terrible too - forget the fact they serve crinkle cut fries like you're 5, they came soggy in a paper bag, with no seasoning at all. No salt, no pepper, no nothing. No care in the packaging whatsoever, just a greasy heap of half mushy fries. This place used to be worth the order, but now, I'd rather go to Taco Bell than order from here ever again. read more

This place was becoming one of my favorite spots in the area until Friday. The food and staff have always been great. I am a pretty good tipper not to mention. This past Friday my and my bf were running some errands in the area and decided to come by. When we first came in the waitress whose name was Leslie greeted us and everything was good until I tried the chips and salsa they normally bring along with. I ask the waitress very kind to see if they have a different salsa and the one they have wasn't spicy enough for me. When I asked her I am not sure if she didn't hear me since the music was kind of loud so she asked me to reap what I had said she didn't hear me. When I asked one more time her answer was they didn't have any other salsa that's all they had and that they only had "Valentina" my thought was for the tacos ?!! I said that is fine if you can please bring me a jalapeño instead that would be fine. She apologized which I am not sure why she did since it wasn't her fault. She (Leslie) ended up taking all 3 salsas. Please note that I was the only one who wasn't happy about the salsa taste not my bf. He was ok as he doesn't eat spicy foods. She (Leslie) brought the food and we started eating the tacos are the best I can't lie about it best tacos. Throughout the entire time we were there she didn't ask us if we needed anything else or if everything was fine like they usually ask. It was kind of uncomfortable since she kept going to the other tables and all smiley and not to us. We finished our food and she never came to us. My bf went to her to pay the bill and she never said anything like a "thank you" or any type of apology. I am very disappointed at the place because my intention was never to offend her or anyone it was just to let them know that the salsas didn't have no flavor at all like they did before. read more

The Tacos are delicious and the price is right! The ambience isn't horrible but it's not amazing either. I don't think you really go there for the ambience. The service was friendly. Veggie tacos and rice and beans were delicious. The sope was freshly made. Friendly staff! They are open until 11pm.

Best $6 steak burrito I've ever had. Sometimes they are slow on meeting the ready time, but overall they do a great job.

This is Taco Dorado No. 2, the first one being in Rogers Park. The reviews for that one were all glowing so I figured that would apply to this one as well..NOT EXACTLY.. I will start with the good... the service was quick and friendly... The Horchata was just right..not too sweet and not too bland...(Jamaica could be a little less tart) The molcajete salsa and taco de cesina was also very good..what was NOT good was the taco/burrito al pastor... and their lengua... We specifically asked for pineapple with the taco al pastor... and got none of that... furthermore the meat was CRUNCHY and flavorless...if it wasn't for the salsa it would've been blah.. Not sure if the waitress didn't relay the message to the cook or the cook didn't listen but pastors are best had with pieces of pineapple..which is why there is always a big piece of pineapple on top.. My son usually loves lengua.. but again...here they fry it like 10x so it was very crunchy instead of soft and tender... The place in unassuming and sometimes...the best finds are those that are not exactly fancy.... But this one misses the mark when it comes to their al pastor.... read more

I had not intended to order from this restaurant I saw my self choose the restaurant I wanted and when I placed my order this name place pops up I wanted El Garcia idk maybe I'm getting old or in need of dire sleep anyway I ordered the food around 8:20 pm the app notified me that it will be 60-70 mins 9:39 to be exact I made sure in the Speacial request to notify them of my correct address because grubhub or yelp didn't put it in correctly for some reason. So as I wait I begin to hope and ponder that this food is worth the 30 bucks I spent not just in food but delivery and tip combined. Around 9:22 I stand on the porch of my house and smoke a cigarette and wait for this Mexican feast I have ordered myself I finish my stick and proceed to walk in the house and by this time it's 930 I'm thinking ok they really meant 9:39 so 9:39 arrives but my feast does not no sweat I'll give him a extra 5 mins 9:44 no feast 9:49 still no feast .Then I begin to worry is my feast ok was it kidnapped did the driver have a sudden urge for Mexican food as well then my concern turns in to frustration. Is my number not on the paper or better yet in the app no call text nothing by 10 o'clock this food shows up as I bend this dumb automated call to grubhub/Yelp and here comes this car with a dent on the passenger side that looks like the driver got slammed in to for delivery peoples feast late or he just doesn't know how to drive hence the tardiness. If that wasn't bad enough the food was freaking cold. The tilapia taco was good under season but food tasted fresh. The Guacamole was ok no real flavors aside from the veggies didn't even taste like it had lime let alone salt. The bean extremely cold and the taco dinner I got was smashed and spread all over the container beans and rice practically mixed together the tacos were cold shells almost hard I ordered two steak and one Al Pastor I only ate one which was the Al Pastor flavor was good for a cold taco haven't tried the steak I'll put a picture up Mind you it won't be pretty don't order delivery from I'd be cautious about take out to. Ordered take out a friends lunch gathering. The handmade tortillas tacos were very delicious. The steak tacos are a must!!! We also order al pastor and we felt they were too crispy for our preference. Overall will come back for the steak tacos and might give al pastor tacos a second try. read more

I ordered from here and never received my food and was told they never received the order nor payment and continue to talk among themselves with me on the phone and called me curse words in Spanish not knowing i know fluent Spanish. i drive up there to receive a full refund and speak to a manager and they refuse to refund me or let me speak to a manager. 0 stars!!! stay away from this trash place. read more

The tacos here are the best in the area. Fresh hand made tortillas and spicy salsas. True Mexico city style. I've tried many dishes, they don't use cheap meat and they give large portions. It's a casual place and delivery can sometimes take long, but the food alone makes it worth it. Prices are great too. read more
