    Beer Battered Halibut Tacos
    Sandra L.

I am loving the vibe at La Frontera restaurant. Warm and colorful with super friendly staff. We sat at the bar and were greeted and served immediately. Surprisingly, we were told it was their secret soft opening. We ordered a gin martini with a gin not usually found at most restaurants, Gray Whale. The martini was delicious and served exactly as requested slightly dirty. We also ordered a Beer Battered Halibut tacos. Two Beer-battered fresh halibut with cabbage, grilled pineapple salsa, and jalapeño-cilantro sauce on flour tortillas. Flavorful, DELICIOUS and big portions.

Food and drinks are very tasty, but incredibly expensive!! Spent $13 on 2 tiny tacos that had me walking away still hungry. Had the Coconut in the Lime drink ($14), which was also tiny, but delicious. All in all, a very expensive ($50+ including tip) lunch. The service was good and so I made sure to tip 20% especially since I also overheard that the staff has to pay for their own meals when on shift. Probably won't return based on these prices alone.

First time, absolutely the best halibut $ coconut shrimp tacos ever. The pineapple salsa verde is excellent on these tacos is very unique, Yummy! Cocktails were very good as also the service...pricing is very fair for the quantity & quality you receive...can't wait to go back.

The food was not bad, but not very good. The service was mostly good. Overall, the mediocre food isn't worth the price.

This place is a hidden gem. If you want the best Peruvian food made to perfection-- go here!…read more I had the seafood dish. They have one seasonal fish with the regular combination of calamari (sautéed to perfection, tender and tasty), scallops, all in a creamy rice base with little steamer clams presented in a semi-circle around the dish. A lovely shrimp, avocado, (mild) red onion salad on the side. How they got the red onions to taste like a crunchy "I'm-not-an-onion" salady thing is a mystery to me, and I cook! I had the panna cotta for dessert. Honestly, just go.

We arrived a bit late and were asked to wait 5-7 minutes. After that, we were quickly taken to our table. There, our waitress handed us the menu where we looked over the selections. We decided to ordered one appetizer to share and two entrees. We decided to go with the Papa Rellena. It is filled with meat and an egg and enclosed in potato. There is a cheesy sauce that it's paired with and it's goes so well together. I can easily chow down 4, but that will be my entire dinner. Our main entrees were the Arroz Chaufa and the Lomo Saltado Criollo. I had the Arroz Chaufa dish. It is a fried rice with pork belly. There are sausage, bok choy, snow peas and a fried egg on top. Everything goes so well together. Overall it is a very nice fried rice dish. My husband ordered the Lomo Saltado Criollo and it's a steak with potato and white rice. The white rice was spectacular as it's seasoned. The potatoes and the steak were really good too. We will definitely come back and try some other dishes along with desserts.

I had been craving pupusas, and the moment I saw they had a good variety to choose from, I knew he made the right choice. I ordered the pork with rice and beans pupusa and the chicken with beans pupusa, and both absolutely hit the spot. They were filling, flavorful, and comforting in the way only good, handmade pupusas can be. The curtido and sauce tied everything together perfectly. Honestly, I could've just stuck with the pupusas and been completely satisfied. But I was really craving plátanos, so I also ordered a side of plátanos with beans and crema ..and wow. That combination was next level. The sweetness of the plantains with the savory beans and creamy crema was so good that I've decided from now on, that's the only way I want to eat them. The whole meal kept me full and happy for hours. One thing to note: you do bus your own table here, which I personally don't mind at all! just something to be aware of when you visit. After I finished eating, I took a walk down Mississippi Avenue, which made the whole outing even better. It's such a charming stretch -- little boutique shops, a cute pet store, a piercing shop further down the street, and plenty of restaurants and dessert spots if you want to keep the day going. Comforting Salvadorian flavors, this spot is definitely worth stopping by.

It was easily enough for two people and very flavorful; the steak was a little chewy but still delicious. As a spice aficionado, I asked for a side of hot sauce, and it was perfect. The highlight, however, was the Platanos Fritos--sweet fried plantains served with refried beans and sour cream. They really hit the spot! The horchata was also perfect. I will definitely be back.
