I think I've found my new favourite ice cream spot! Definitely a bit further trek out and very different. I love the approach La Glace has gone with their shop. Very French/Parisian, makes me think of Laduree. I tried Citron, Le Tigre, Pretzel Cremeux, Peppered Pumpkin, Cream de la Crème?? All these fancy French names!! I decided to get the pumpkin and vanilla bean. Reminded me if a pumpkin pie mixed with whip. The texture is VERY smooth. A mix between nitrogen ice cream and gourmet hard ice cream. The ice cream is made mostly of heavy cream and egg yolks. No air incorporated into the super small batches of ice cream. I can't compare it to any other ice cream shop. La Glace is definitely in its own category. The service we received was so so so amazing. I wish I grabbed her name! Seating is limited though and parking in the front can be a bit tough. We hope there would be more flavours to choose from, but we ended up getting the pandan infused coconut (vegan!) icecream and matcha icecream. I've tried matcha icecream from many different places (including Japan) and I loved how this wasn't too sweet. The matcha flavour is strong, but not unbearable. It had the perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness. The pandan infused coconut icecream was addictive. The pandan was subtle and slightly overpowered by the coconut. We found this a tad too sweet, but nonetheless, it was yummy. The complimentary meringue was sweet and melt in your mouth; it wasn't too sugary! read more

Such a cute ice cream place! Went as a spur of the moment adventure as I had seen an advertisement for it in a magazine describing new places in Vancouver. Not much parking space in front but lots of street parking if you don't mind walking a block or so. Fairly good selection for ice cream. My friend is lactose free and there were a few vegan options which is always nice. The consistency of it felt pretty much identical to something with dairy. They provide you with a free topping at the end when you're paying which is awesome! The only downside was that I had no idea what my options were.. I pretty much just chose a colour because nothing was labelled and I was sort of confused as to what was available to us. Overall I'll definitely go back if I'm ever in the area and would recommend to anyone who's vegan and just can't kick that ice cream itch. read more

It's a cute but very small ice cream shop with limited seatings and limited flavours. They have about 10 flavours which 3 are vegan (coco pandan, lavender salted caramel and rose lychee sorbet) so that gives you 7 others to choose from. It gets hard when 2 of the regular flavours are sold out and you wanna get a flight of 4. I do hope that one day they will be able to add more flavours and more seats. Some tables only had one chair and we ended up sitting on a bench with no table... Flavours we tried were: - Kalamansi - I like that it's cream based and not a sorbet. Usually you'd see fruit or citrus flavours as a sorbet. - Coco pandan - the pandan was very subtle. I couldn't taste too much of it. - Ganche - very rich chocolate. I quite like it even though I'm not a huge chocolate fan. It's also not very sweet - Cantaloupe - I love cantaloupe ice cream. It's not a common flavour and I'm glad I can find it here. You get a nice blend of cream with subtle cantaloupe flavours singing through. I recommend getting this if the flavour's still around. It's better to get a cone as you go for a walk around the block or sit in your car with your treat. The flight requires you to sit at their store since you'd have to return both the tray and spoons. read more

Tucked away at the corner of W 16th and MacDonald, this ice cream shop can be easy to miss. Stumbled in on their two year anniversary today and they are giving out ice cream cake! I would definitely come here more often if it was closer to home. They are known for creamy, delicious ice cream, unique flavours (I'm talking mango chilli sherbert with cilantro) and cute bright-coloured meringue. I love their teal floral wallpaper and brass accents - from the menu on the wall to the cutlery. This place reminds me of the palace of Versailles in Paris. La glace is a French inspired patisserie and ice creamery. The decor is bright with white walls except for a feature wall that has is teal with flowers and peacocks on it. Small seating areas are along the walls with small marble tables. This feels more like a place to grab your treats and go hang out in the courtyard or continue your walk. All ice creams come with a topping; a macaron shell, marshmallow wafer, or a meringue. Flavours today were vanilla bean, peanut butter and chocolate, dark valrhona chocolate, creme caramel, coffee and lavender, mango, oat and date with cardamon and orange, roasted pistachio cream, mint and chocolate flecks (vegan) and pandan infused coconut cream. How I wish I could have tried them all...and way too late, I realized that there were tasting flights. What I did get to taste was awesome. And as an aside, the coffee is great too. Kind of disappointed with this place's lactose intolerant/vegan options. They've ALWAYS got the same coconut flavour and sometimes rotate other non-dairy options, but they're often lacklustre and underwhelming. Given how much effort they put into their dairy flavours and how many options of those their are, it would be nice if they could equally invest time into their dairy-free options. Also frustrating that so many other businesses are recognizing their impact on climate change, but the emphasis on milk/dairy here is a little too extra. read more

This place is so cute! I love that the base ice cream flavor is creme anglaise. I am a huge creme anglaise fan in non-ice-cream form, and while I understand that most ice cream is made with a custard/creme anglaise base, I like that at La Glace, they get that creme anglaise is perfect on its own, and doesn't need to be dressed up much to be delicious. They were very generous with tasters, and the staffperson seemed enthusiastic about the product she was selling. I am looking forward to trying the annual Mini Egg ice cream, which just started for the season. Also - the containers here are very cute and can be repurposed as a vase for flowers or for some other kind of storage in your house, should you choose not to re-use them for ice cream. read more

La Glace is a sweet little ice cream shop at Kitslano. First of all, their branding is the prettiest I've seen in Vancouver. (comapring to other local non franchise ice cream shops) It's very classy and elegant. Their ice cream tastes like that too, my favourite is their avocado flavour. They also offer a free topping for your ice cream which is very nice. Not many ice cream places do this so I'm pleasantly surprised. Beautiful little ice cream shop tucked away on the west side. The take away pints come in the most beautiful glass jars! Their flavors change but there are some standard flavors including chocolate, pandan & coconut, rose lychee sorbet and Kalamansi that I've seen a few times. The shop is so pretty and it feels like a candy shop. All ice creams come with a free meringue topping which are JUST as delicious as the ice cream. Came here with my bf for dessert on a Friday night. Quite far from where we live which was East Vancouver but I had to try it. Very cute place and quite girly but I liked it. There weren't that many seats because it was quite small place but a couple left so we were lucky. My bf had their pear and amaretto sorbet since he is lactose intolerant which was light and refreshing. I was excited to try their matcha with black sesame because both of them are my favorite flavors but they didn't had any that day :[ Luckily, they had another flavor that I really love which was peanut butter with chocolate. It was quite good but I tasted more peanut butter than chocolate. I was kinda disappointed because the menu did say "peanut butter & chocolate" so I was expecting both flavors but there wasn't. It would of been better if they didn't mention "chocolate" on their menu or they added chocolate chips in it. I really liked how they top off each ice cream with a free topping which changes daily. That day they had these mint meringues which were so tasty. They were crispy on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside. The mint flavor was quite prominent but not over powering. Overall, their ice creams were really good and staff were super friendly. I just wouldn't sit inside because their chairs were way too high for their tables so we were quite uncomfortable. read more

The staff are very nice and the ice cream is even better :) Not only are there interesting ice cream flavours, but there are also interesting vegan flavours as well! For example, the Vegan Coco Pandan was really good! I also tried the Cassis Sorbet and I felt as though the texture was very airy like as if eating a light mousse. You can get pints to go. I've only been to La Glace for the hot chocolate festival as it has participated in the festival for the last two years. The hot chocolates were very creative and delicious. I definitely enjoy the La Glace concept. It is not an ice cream shop located in a bustling part of town that gets a lot of foot traffic - so on a brisk February day in the middle of the hot chocolate festival, it's not very busy. It's a nice thing because you don't have to wait forever to get your order and there's easily a place to sit down and enjoy your tasty treat. But in my two limited hot chocolate festival motivated visits, I found that the staff were always occupied in the back so I had to like get their attention in order to come to the front. It's understandable that they were doing other things as the shop wasn't busy - but I would like to think that they would have heard the door chime and come to the front to take my order or offer me flavour samples without me having to do the awkward throat clearing thing to get their attention. Nonetheless, when I did get their attention, service was great and ice cream was great and I'm quite sure that the front of the shop is thoroughly manned when the weather is better and it's a bumpin place to be. read more

I am the biggest icecream fanatic and I can honestly say that this is my new favourite ice cream spot. I love how there are a variety of unique flavours and that each one lives up to their name. I had the coconut pandan, chocolate passion, and pineapple sorbet. All of which were incredibly delicious and smooth (especially the coconut pandan). I initially only thought of only getting one flavour, but we all know how well that can go... The interior is very pretty~ Maybe I am biased because I like the colour teal. The only slight downside is the small space and low tables. Pricing is decent relative to other places like Earnest, Rain or Shine, Tangram, etc. $5.50 for one scoop, $8.50 for 2, $9.50 for 3. Did I mention each ordee also comes with a cute meringue or biscuit? (Also delicious!) The people over the counter were also very friendly and let us tried a lot of the flavours. This place is nicely decorated and gives a really french vibe. They have really nice containers and counters. The staffs are really friendly. Every ice cream comes with a complimentary topping, side, or sauce. Their flavours are very unique and it stands out from other ice cream places. I tried the lavender espresso flavour and it had a really strong lavender flavour and just hints of espresso. Personally, I feel like more espresso flavour could be added in to the ice cream to enhance the flavour. My favourite would be the matcha with black sesame. Magnifique! This place is da bomb. When I first entered, I thought wow, this place sure looks pretty and dainty. I wondered if it was more looks than substance. I was happy to discover the ice cream is top notch. Soo creamy and flavorful. Definitely one of the best, and up there or better than earnest, rain or shine, etc. and many top places I have tried in the Bay Area. The pretzel flavor was awesome, nice balance of sweet and salty. The free topping is a nice touch too...the pizzelle waffle offers a satisfying crunch. Their takeout containers and bags are also gorgeous.
