I wish i would've taken a picture of the Smothered pork chops, mac and cheese, collard greens and Banana Pudding i had, but it wouldn't of done justice. The pork chops were "fall off the bone", seasoned well and tasty! Greens were tasty as well, the mac and cheese was okay, little dry but i'm willing to try again! Banana pudding was my favorite! We were looking for a nice soul food restaurant to try around the Columbus area and so far we have been disappointed with just about every place we've been to. We decided to try LaGlory's because of the reviews online and because the food pictures looked pretty good. Unfortunately for us the fish fryer was broken or they were out of fish, so we couldn't try the fish; however, we were offered a three whole wing dinner as a substitute. We also ordered the smothered pork chops. The we got were greens for both meals, and one meal had mac & cheese while the other meal had mashed potatoes. We order two desserts: poundcake and the banana pudding cake. So guys, I was very disappointed in the sizes of the wings although it was advertised as whole wings, I've been to some places around town for example Woody's, that serves the buffalo wings but one Woody's buffalo wing was pretty much the size of one and a half (only exaggerating a bit) of the LaGlory's whole wings (not endorsing Woody's here). So I can say that the price compared to the serving sizes were very disappointing. Don't get me wrong I understand restaurants are in the business to make money, and I also understand that small businesses did take a huge hit during the pandemic, so perhaps the price of the food was to make up for lost revenue? Needless to say, I am hoping they'll be able to still remain successful regardless of any of the negative reviews they've received online. hopefully the fish fryer will be fixed or they'll have fish in stock and we can give that a try. On to the desserts... The poundcake did taste a bit homemade so that was a plus, but the banana pudding cake was not what I had hoped. The Nilla wafers they used seem to be stale, and also, the icing was a bit too sweet. I was hoping to get an authentic southern banana pudding cake and what I received was something on the lines of banana bread with icing and Nella wafers on the outside. My friend wants to give this place a try, so I'll give it another go. Hopefully we'll be about to try the fish. 3 stars only because of the customer service. read more

We ate here off of a recommendation. We were not left disappointed. Our party had wings, yams, green beans, macaroni, cornbread and dessert. We were all pleasantly pleased. I am not from Columbus and there are days I want a good southern meal without cooking it myself. Hubs and I have been craving soul food since we moved here almost 2 years ago and while it was t my mother in law's cooking it certainly hit the spot, satisfied the hankering. Since it was a first try I figured we could share / diversify 2 dinners and give a few things a try ... sweet potatoes. mashed potatoes w/gravy, cabbage/greens mix, mac j cheese, fried whiting fish & 2 pc dark meat fried chicken & slice of carrot cake - I said we were sampling. Of that for under $22 and frankly not too bad. There was nothing repulsive. The fish may have been red 90 seconds too long, but also could have been my 15 minutes commute home & the corn bread was a little more crumbly than I like - but it was fine. Took a little longer than I would have expected but service was good, attendants were polite, professionals and timely communicated where appropriate.y favorite part - was not having to detour too much though I did miss the first turn - my bad directionally challenged I see they took the feedback of a previous reviewer that spoke to wet fried chicken / fish bc cabbage / greens were I the same container. I was especially thankfully for the cabbage/Mac n cheese being spared in a smaller separate container. Give it a whirl - they are also on door dash/grub hub - YUM! I had the pleasure of dining here this evening with my family. It was after 6, so they were closing soon. I thought that meant we would get left over food, but that was not the case. All of our fish was fresh cooked. The wing dings and side dishes are amazing. We had yams and macaroni that were to die for! And don't skip dessert! The carrot cake is moist and delicious! I really ought to give them 4 stars because they are 12 miles away. I simply must put this on a regular rotation regardless of distance. I wanted fried chicken, greens and mac and cheese. Last time there were no greens. This time they had greens and they were as good as I had hoped. Now I make good mac n cheese but this is better....so cheesy. And the fried chicken is to die for. I called in my order and it was ready. Vaya greeted us with the warmest smile and really made us feel welcome. La Glory's is a little hard to find. You will see a day care center at their address but keep going to the right of the building and you will find the cafe at the northeast corner of the building. Their menu is posted on line but when you enter the building you will see additional specials of the day. I sort of wish they had a "tasting menu". I would like to try chitterlings but don't want to commit to a meal of them. On the other hand, being a Pittsburgh native, I am used to pickled pigs feet so BBQ pigs feet could be interesting. These were daily specials on the Thursday that I went. So definitely thumbs up for me on fried chicken, greens and mac n cheese and the friendly welcoming smile and words. I am not writing this to be spiteful or nasty. But this is solely based on my dining experience. Me and my father decided to come to this place and have breakfast on Saturday. We get there after 11 am and the special had ended. So everything was ala-cart. That makes it extremely expensive. 3 eggs cost $4; and everything else was like $3. And it wasnt even a hearty serving for the price. They were really skimpy on servings. But that isn't why I'm writing this. My father found a hair in his potatoes. Now, the food is behind glass but all of it sits there, uncovered. And i noticed that none of the people serving or cooking the food wore hair nets. So it's easy for hair to fall into the food. I came here on whim for lunch, and this restaurant is truly a hidden gem of an eatery. If you're in the market for quality soul food, La Glory's Cafe is a must eat. The food is true to its roots of traditional soul food fare. The barbecue pig's feet melt in your mouth. The mashed potatoes are perfectly creamy. The southern sweet corn is bursting with flavor.
