Pizza had just been put in self serve area so got a Pepperoni pizza, Gladiator Pizza, and a cheese pizza.Also picked up a Kale and Quinoa Salad with added chicken At first my daughter thought there were only 4 pieces of pepperoni on her pizza, but found out the rest were under the cheese. I was in terminal D at the airport. I had an hour before boarding so I ordered a tuna melt sandwich. My wife got a premade pizza. After I paid, there was *no one* in the kitchen for 15 minutes. I kept looking for help but none was offered. They needed artificial intelligence here, because there was obviously no human intelligence. The sandwich was OK, but not $20+ dollars OK. For being one of the friendliest airports we didn't feel very welcomed when we joined a family member to eat our food at La Grande Orange. We had some family order food from LGO and others from Chick-fil-A, when an employee told us that it wasn't a public eating space and we couldn't eat our Chick-fil-A in the eating area. No other airport employee had issue or mentioned it wasn't allowed. There was also no sign entering the restaurant stating that we could not come in to sit down to eat with other food. We had a great experience here. While on a layover, we decided to grab a latte and some cookies to stay awake. The cashier older lady was tired so she was a bit moody but then she cheered up after asking how she was doing :) it might have been a long day for her. She made our lattes which tasted super good. Having lived in Phoenix for close to 17 years LGO always brings back fond memories while living in the Camelback corridor. Their airport location doesn't offer all the great stuff compared to the big store but it's pretty close. LGO without a doubt has one of the better pizza's in the Valley of the sun and their sandwiches also never disappoints. If Phoenix Sky Habor Airport is your pit stop make sure you give them a try. 5 stars for consistently good and reasonably priced food and friendly service. I'll be back. For an airport lunch, you can do a lot worse than La Grande Orange. It was a pleasant surprise in Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (terminal 4.) They feature an array of sandwiches, wraps, breakfast sandwiches, salads and personal pizzas. I opted for the veggie sandwich which was really colorful and piled high with colorful, fresh produce. The bread was lightly toasted and some kind of spelt bread so a cut above just your slices white or wheat. Definitely had healthy and fresh options to elevate your to go airport meal a bit. Wish they had locations at other airports I frequent. Prices weren't bad either. My sandwich, chips and drink came to around $12, a steal for a decent airport lunch! This was a quick stop for food between flights - knowing Southwest only provides snacks on the long flight ahead. Never heard of the big orange but this spot was crowded while the adjacent restaurant was nearly empty. The space is semi-circular with four "stations" along the inside perimeter and seating on the outside. No table service, strictly order and find a seat. The stations included a Beverage section for alcohol, wine and beer a Burger station for grilled sandwiches and burgers, a Sandwich station for cold wraps and other sandwich fare and a Pizza station for personal sized build your own pizzas. Basically all the food groups and something to wash it all down! We opted for a moderately healthy choice, turkey on Levain (sourdough) bread. We found that all the cold sandwiches were premade that day, AND , we both wanted something slightly different than the menu (no tomato on one, no avocado on the other). As we suggested to the cashier we would deconstruct the sandwich, she offered to have new ones made to order! Boom! Instant fans. I picked this because it was right in front of my gate and the menu looked promising .
