In town visiting and this place had great reviews so got a reservation and tried it first dinner. It was disappointing on all fronts. Server did not speak any English so when I asked about the fish special, he couldn't describe it. The chef came out of the kitchen to tell us what it was (halibut). We got the bread to start, rigatoni, another pasta, broccolini and the halibut. The broccolini turned out to be broccoli. The rigatoni was bland and unevenly cooked as though it had been microwaved. The halibut was actually very well prepared but overall, al the food was below average. The ambience was also a let down. Bright lighting, faux marble and battery candles. Focaccia bread was delicious. Unfortunately that is all we should have ordered. Rigatoni bolognese was a joke-Michaelangelos frozen is significantly better. It had clearly been microwaved-had cold spots. There was no one to complain to-no one speaks English except the supposed boss who was in the back, visibly on her phone the entire 1 hour and 45 minutes we sat there. No water was offered until begged for when my wine glass was completely empty. A second member of our party ordered chicken which was dry and was supposed to come with couscous for $28. Instead just had veggies on the plate. When it was time to pay, we 3 couples were asked by the waiter what we had each eaten so he could split the bill. 15 minutes later he returned with a single check for 6 and demanded cash. Happy Birthday to me... this place was not great. I was super excited to get some Italian food in an open kitchen setting however I really didn't get what I paid for. I ordered the risotto which was $38 and this risotto took about 45 minutes to get to me because it was "backed up" and the risotto had to be fixed. When the risotto came out it had 4 (medium) shrimp and was served soupy with partially uncooked zucchini. This soupy presentation seemed to be because there was too much seafood stock being used in the food causing an overly fishy taste. Not only did it get served soupy but my actual risotto was still more al denté than I think it should have been served. I don't know if this was because the head chef did not seem to be cooking/ delegating tonight but it was unacceptable that it still wasn't correct even when it came to the table after waiting for the time that we did. I will most likely never give this place a second chance given it was $100 for a meal that Olive Garden could have served better blindfolded. I would advise you to find legit any other place to eat. read more

I absolutely love this place - such a wonderful place to eat!! I'm glad I tried the arancini - and the truffle sauce with the gnocchi was incredible! Their cab was really nice - looking forward to trying the Pinot on my next visit. Tiramisu was also really good. Made a reservation for 4 at 615pm. Arrived at 610pm. 4 or 5 of their 12 tables were open. The waiter wouldn't seat us saying it would be 10-15 min. A family walked in behind us and was immediately seated. We waited 15 minutes and decided to leave. When we told him, he said he was just about to seat us. We all had the feeling that he didn't want us in the restaurant. Should be zero stars! read more

I'm so happy we found this place! The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is charming and cozy. It's a bonus that the chef often comes around to greet each table. My favorite dish is the pasta with sausage and peppers. We've also tried the focaccia and the calamari appetizers. Both were delicious! read more

worst dining experience we ever had in 21 years in the triangle. Resraurant looks worse than an elementary school cafeteria No ambiance whatsoever. Although we had a reservation we were left at our table for almost half an hour with no drinks service etc. it appeared that only one server was serving the entire dinning room . we ordered a Napa Cab . one glass had significantly more wine in it than the other . Same goes for the second glass Cheapest pour we ever experienced anywhere . Menu was spartan with none of the selections coming close to what is on the Web site . Food was cold and tasteless My wife's selection was suppose to have 3 meats it had one tiny piece of meat period . we asked the server if the chef was in the restaurant and she said "no but he taught us everything we need to know" God help us ! so if you don't mind dropping almost $200.00 dollars for what we described knock yourself out A better choice would be McDonalds who at least has more than 2 desert selections. read more

Upon arrival, it was still early and place was mostly empty. Just 2 of us on an anniversary date, they stick us between the only two occupied tables... less than a couple feet from others. How romantic..... Service was good, our waitress was very nice. The dress code was interesting for the staff. One had a shirt with more wrinkles than my grandpas forehead.. others looked grimy and old. For the price of food on the menu, you'd think they would dress more so the part. The restaurant itself, very nice and clean... Started with wine, bread wasn't complementary (which is fine, but not common?). Excited for our entrees we get the cannelloni and the carbonara. This is where it gets interesting.... Carbonara, the flavor and overall dish was bland. She didn't eat more than a few bites (and we're not picky eaters). The cannelloni... a pasta dish. Not here, it was a burrito. Found out it was made with buckwheat, which is fine but you need to clarify that on menu! Buckwheat is WAY different than the standard pasta. I unwrapped it, had 2-3 layers of buckwheat pasta which was then wrapped literally like a burrito. I mushrooms but this was overpowering.... And minimal meat (if any). We left, went to Taco Bell. Great pork chop! Huge and sooo tender. So big it takes a little while but well worth the wait. My wife is in search of the world's best bolognese, she is still searching but we will be back. The only downside was the cold restaurant itself. Staff friendly, chef / owner, Bob, came out to great us and check on us again before we left. So warm people just cold inside especially when the door was opened. Add a barrier front door enclosure and this gets five stars. read more

Last year I attended a birthday dinner for a friend. We had eight ladies. The food was amazing, both presentation and taste. We had four courses and shared all the appetizers. The food was very good but very expensive. We paid $120 including tip for two with two glasses of wine. He had bolognese which he liked but I wasn't crazy about. I had a small portion of risotto with shrimp and scallops. It was good. Smelled very fishy which I thought might be bad but no, food was perfectly fine, no problems. I made an early dinner, "solo" return to La Grassa Pastificio this evening. I was very lucky to "squeeze in" a seating prior to a fully booked evening of dinner reservations. If you plan to visit one of the best restaurants around on a weekend night, you definitely should make reservations here. Tonight's visit was just as fabulous as the first time when Liz and I dined there, and I have pictures to prove it. Thank you Bobby and team for such a wonderful evening. Below are the Polpi (Octopus, olive-avocado pesto, calabrian chili), the Stracciatella (shaved beets, mozzarella "clouds", and fig balsamic) and the smaller version of the seafood fettuccine Oh yeah, when I got home I finished off the Budino (a delicious dark chocolate "mousse"with hazelnut topping) that we somehow hadn't finished after our first visit to La Grassa. read more

Found this through an article in Cary Magazine. Food was excellent and fresh. Small place in a little strip mall, but not cramped at all. Focaccia bread was a wonderful start to our meal. We split a great salad and then a bolognese pasta dish. VERY good. Menu changes, so was different than was on the website, but good selection to choose from. Good wine selection too. Will be going back again and really recommend if you want some fresh pasta. read more
