This place used to have awesome food. Service was bad, but I went back all the time because the dishes were truly delicious. I don't even know how many times I took my friends there to show them Commerce had a unique, great restaurant. We stopped going when the menu changed to run-of-the-mill Mexican fare. I have been eating at La Ha for over 15 years in all of its incarnations and locations in Commerce. Stopped eating there a few years ago after a management change that was followed by a serious decline in food quality, but recently have been going about once or twice a week since I have been working back in Commerce. Food is (average) not bad, but in two weeks time and 3 visits, I was brought an entree I did not order 2 out of those 3. This restaurant is probably the worst restaurant I've been to. So let me tell you, when I sat down the lady already wanted us to order. We ordered, then waited 30 min later then just my mom and I food came but my fathers food didn't come. Then my mom and I finished our food 10 minutes later because we both ordered a cocktail it wasn't really that good and I love cocktails but that one was just too creamy it had too much ketchup and not enough vegetables there was only like 5 shrimp the rest was just ketchup and shrimp sauce mostly ketchup I wanted to barf inside. Anyway, we decided to leave because my dads food didn't arrive we called the waiter to assist us but she acted like she didn't hear us. So we just paid the bill. And we went up to the counter and told the lady about our situation and she just said with an attitude "oh um the shrimp soup takes a long time". And there was other employees looking at us. Just to make it clear, the employees look lazy and act lazy. I'm never coming back here again! Arguably the best Mexican food I've ever had. Not only was the quality of the food great, they had all the basic menu items you see at every Mexican restraint and they had a large specialty menu full of unique Mexican dishes. We have been here about a dozen times always had good food and good service. Although the last visit we had a female server (we usually have men) who had a little attitude and and took a long time to get our food, we are hoping this was an isolated incident. I'll Pass: They were a much better establishment when the owned the La Fiesta building. If you like to feel like a cow in a pen with 1000 others or a crowded school cafeteria this is the place to go. They don't serve horchata. Minus one star. They "spiced" the guacamole with pepper. Minus one star. The service was average. Although paced very nicely. We had sopes and their chicken soup. The sopes tasted like they were on Indian fry bread rather than fried maza. The chicken soup was good, but I'm not sure I'd call it Mexican. Could've passed for Central American, but definitely not Mexican. All in all they've got the look, ambiance, and menu for a great Mexican restaurant. We both had carne asada burrito with poco and I have never seen such a small amount of steak in a burrito, it was the size of a small taco. The taste was bland and the service was bad. We went several times a few years back and it was great. Couple of weeks ago we went and food was fair but service was TERRIBLE. We put it off on the server and decided to give it a try Sunday with family. Service and food was even worse! Food was cold, not as ordered, and came out at different times for the six of us. My aunt and I stopped to have dinner after a long day of shopping. We walked in and there was water on the floor, which is a hazard for anyone. The waiter then sat us in a booth that was broken. We then moved to a table. As we sat at the table I noticed how filthy the window sills were and felt "dirty". Our menus felt sticky and mine had salsa on all pages. The waiters were sitting doing nothing. They could of been cleaning the menus and restaurant! I had an uneasy feeling of the kitchen being dirty and decided I would leave. Mediocre at best. Don't try to get a tasty Margarita at this place. I ordered mine with Grand Marnier and Don Julio reposado, the bartender says OK, and then she makes the drink with Gran Gala which is the cheapest liquour you can use and when I asked about Grand Marnier she plainly told me "this is what we use here", I did not even have a chance to say no, she could have told me they do not have Grand Marnier and I would have ordered something else, when I mentioned that I didn't want it, she said I would have to pay for it anyways so I ended up drinking something I did not like. After that ordeal, I asked what did they have for IPA beer and they didn't have any (seriously?) the age of craft beers and no IPA? I ordered steak fajitas and they came overly seasoned to the point you could not even taste anything other than spicy food, needless to say, they went back and I didn't bother to argue about it. Spend your money somewhere else, Applebees is a few extra steps from the hotel in the same parking lot and they have better food, better selection of drinks and a better attitude for the same price. I first visited La Hacienda about six years ago and I've been a fan since. Their food is not "spectacular," mainly because it's Mexican and hard to screw up (like Pizza and Chinese.) But the food is consistent and the service is pretty good. For me, it's a comfortable place to sit and eat - I know what I want when I get there and it always tastes the same. I got the beef tacos, they didn't say that they were flour tortillas, I like the corn. Anyway, the meat was tasteless, and they had a strange sweet taste. I only took one bite.
