This place speaks for itself from the moment you walk in you automatically can see, feel, hear and SMELL the authenticity in their Mexican culture. It was refreshing to see the traditional and authentic foods, drinks and desserts they offered at this restaurant. Guacamole was fresh and amazing. The hot sauces they serve with the food were perfectly made and at different heats. Best part of this restaurant is that they have a supermarket and meat market attached to it on the opposite side of the building. They also have a to go buffet in the back of various foods freshly cooked also available in the front were some traditional Spanish cultured games, decors, accessories, and traditional cakes. My fiance told me La Hacienda was by far the best, most authentic Mexican restaurant in Ocala so I had to try it. It was definitely an authentic Mexican restaurant so don't expect them to have any ground beef because you will be disappointed! The service was good, the restaurant was large and Monday night they have a live Mariachi band which made it a really fun experience. We started with the chips and guacamole. They came with salsa and two sauces, which were homemade and delicious. The table had 2 homemade taco sauces which had great flavor and some heat. I ordered the chile rellenos with the cheese enchilada and chicken flauta. The flats was super crispy and flavorful but the chicken inside was a bit dry. The chile relleno was decent, but not the best I've had. The rice was moist and flavorful and the Refried beans were smooth and tasty. I loved how authentic and homemade everything was and I would definitely eat here again. Rating from an F to A+++ I give it an A+. read more

When traveling I'm always on the hunt for an authentic Mexican restaurant. Travels brought me to Ocala and I ran across La Hacendia. Not to be confused with the way sub par in-authentic restaurant of the same name in STL the Florida version is the real deal. Attached to a Mexican Super Market this full service restaurant was packed when I arrived. I was quickly seated, ordered the Plato Supremo, three steak tacos with rice and beans. Me Gusto Mucho! Authentic flavors, a variety of salsas and sauces and homemade tortilla chips and salsa left me in Mexico heaven! Run, do not walk and get yourself here for some of the best food you can handle. My gf ended up tossing her rice and saved the chicken to give to my dog at home. No idea how people said this place serves good food. We have been coming to LA Hacienda for years. Since the new owners have taken over the food is not a well seasoned. Also for the 2 of us we get one dish at a time. It also seems that our orders are messed up, I ordered 2 Shrimp Tacos and beans, I received 2 Shrimp Tacos, beans, rice, salad. NOT WHAT I ORDERED. I hate writing a bad review. I don't think I have ever done it before but I have to say this place needs some help. Our waitress was great and very friendly. The food however, not so much. My husband ordered Shrimp Diablo. The sauce temperature was like they had taken it out of the refrigerator while the shrimp were over cooked. I will say they were very nice about taking it off our bill when we called the manager over. As far as myself and the other guests, our food was barely warm. Chips and salsa really hit the spot - thick, house made chips and 3 salsas - a regular red, a veggie heavy brown, and an interesting cilantro, jalepeno and sour cream. Last 2 were a little spicy. Kids all enjoyed the flavored Mexican sodas (Jallisco maybe?) that you can't get everywhere. Plus it was taco Tuesday! Which meant that carne asada steak and chicken (small) tacos were only 99 cents! 3 of our 6 people sampled Another kid had a shrimp quesadillia and a kids tacos. Authentic is the right word. Love this place. All original and authentic. A must for anyone wanting some Latin culture and food. It is like a Latin food museum. Who knew the best Mexican food is here in Ocala!? We stayed in a hotel close to here as a pit stop on our road trip. Since this restaurant was next door we walked over and grabbed some food to go. We got a regular steak quesadilla, chicken tacos and another type of quesadilla with jalapeños. It was amazing. All of it! In town so I stopped here with my grandma. The chips are different than I'm use to, but they are good. Our waiter was nice. They have a band on Mondays. We had fajitas nachos and it was a lot. Had such high hopes for this place! Read all the reviews and went and it was packed when we arrived, so we assumed it would be amazing. Well, it wasn't! I don't know if maybe we're just used to different Mexican food being from the West, but we didn't like it at all, even the chips were off to us. Got a nice recommendation from a CPA I was visiting and I consider it a very nice find. Loved the three salsas that came with chips, really one of the highlights of the meal. Need more, no problem simply ask or even point, and it will magically appear. My wet Burritto was much more than I could handle, and I quickly realized there was an art to eating it, slicing crossways to get a better combination of flavors. I wish I could give you more insight, but I was dining alone. On my next trip, I plan on exploring the menu a bit, so maybe I will give an update later. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! We lived in San Francisco for a long time and got really spoiled by great Mexican food. Now living in the south, it's really had to find the real thing. It looks like we finally found it!! Unfortunately, Ocala is about a 6 hour drive from our home in Auburn, AL. We ate here on our back from the Keys last week. The other Yelp reviews were so helpful and I must say, absolutely accurate. I got a vegetarian burrito and it could have fed 3 people and it was so tasty. I took half of it home and it was almost as good warmed the next day. My hubby got the cheese chili rellenos and he said they were excellent. And, he especially like the rice and beans. They gave him an abundance of both and they were so good (he did allow me one little taste). We probably won't be able to return here for a while but if you get the chance, you need to eat here.
