Awful experience , we walked out! We were seated at a table surrounded by screaming children. I walked up nicely to the maître D and asked for a quiet table in the back of the restaurant. I got there with a friend and was seated promptly and friendly. Him and I already knew what we wanted and we've been there before for other dishes but specifically we came to have Tacos de Lengua. Ambience was quite not many people just how I like it! She brought us two modelos promptly as well. The tongue tacos were juicier and tender than we had before or expected or remembered. Not sure why this place only gets 2.8 starts (at the time of this review). I feel like I am a conservative critic and would easily give La Herradura 4 stars. There are so many options on the menu and never been disappointed. The staff is friendly and the food comes out quickly and hot. Personal favorite is the Pollo a La Parilla. Only critique is the beverage situation where Tamarind juice and Horchatas appear to have different consistency each time and are usually overly sweet. I've sent back my horchata before and had it remade, which I appreciate. The prices are very reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area. read more

They started aggressively cleaning and shut the music off at 9:15 and when I asked for something else the waiter got visibly annoyed and walked away. I have been here multiple times. The tile work on the floor and tables, the lighting, waitstaff attire and music are all authentic and make you think that you are in Mexico. The waitstaff was almost adequately attentive. I did have to get up from my seat and ask for water a couple of times. The music and noise was not annoying nor did it impede my ability to hear and be heard. The chairs were not overly comfortable. Lighting was adequate but it was daytime. They served complimentary chips and salsa. The former were crisp and nicely salted and the latter was tangy and tasty. I had lunch there today and the fajita portions were generous. the shrimps were plentiful, plump and awesomely spiced, ditto on the chicken and beef that were moist and perfectly sliced. All of the food was hot and the salsa and sour cream sides were thoughtful and ample. The rice and beans side were also generously sized, warm, nicely spiced and flavorful. My friend got the veggie enchiladas which you can see in the picture. Look at the nice presentation! The steak burrito tasted like the food was old with that freezer taste and the rice was all dried out crunchy. Threw both items out. This was a very salty, mole sauce, chicken was basically what they use for the fajitas not the shredded kind, honestly could do better at Taco Bell. Rude staff . I went for a drink but I was with my son who is underage so I had to sit at a table instead of the bar . the waiter rolled his eyes when I said I didn't want food . I have to mention the restaurant was empty since it was 3 o'clock of a Wednesday, so it is not I was taking nobody's table or anything. The bill was 30 dollars . I gave them 2 bills of 20 dollars . Wife, child, and I stopped here en route from Ossining to Larchmont. I didn't have particularly high expectations; wife's from the area but hadn't been before -- mainly wanted some Mexican food, and we thought our son, who's 4, would appreciate a plate of arroz con frijoles. Son was acting up when we arrived, low blood sugar perhaps, and didn't want anything initially. He wouldn't even look at the menu, and claimed the music overhead was driving him crazy. We got him a cup of chocolate milk, and things perked up a bit. Our own food was surprisingly good. Wife enjoyed her fish taco, I the enchiladas verde, with a tangy, mild green sauce and perfectly done marinated grilled chicken. I prefer refried beans with the consistency of beans and not the mushy variety, but that's a minor quibble. Herradura gets an extra star for allowing my son to go slightly off-menu and have white rice and black beans with his single chicken taco. Guacamole is ok very heavy on lime and cilantro. Chips are not homemade I had the chicken fajitas were filled with chicken and had a nice flavor. Food quality has really gone down hill. The food is not cooked as fresh and well as before. Food portions are very small. I called around 9:15 pm on 9/15/22 and a women pick up. I explained my issue and she kept repeating if I wanted a refund to call uber and totally missed the point of working on relating the message to management or cook to work on there food quality. The lady was very rude and hung up phone. Definitely lost a consistent customer who was ordering from you for the past 6 months. Will tell all local neighbors throughout Harrison and Mamaroneck of this experience. That poor service explains the poor cooking quality lately. read more

I ordered grilled chicken tacos for my 10 year old daughter. The waitress asked if she should leave off the cilantro and onions, which I agreed to. However, the tacos came with absolutely nothing on them. I asked for shredded cheese and sour cream, which I was charged an extra $3.50 for! I try to like this place and I keep going back in the hopes they'll get it right because the food isn't bad and half the time the margaritas are pretty good, it's the AWFUL SERVICE. I parked the car while my wife waited 5 or so minutes for me inside without so much as a hello from the staff. I parked and then sat with her and tried to get a drink order but the entire staff just looked through me. Eventually we got up and went to the bar thinking that we might get a drink and it turns out the person behind the bar was a busboy and he was cleaning glasses and was not interested or didn't understand a word I was saying. I literally felt invisible and gestured to anyone that looked like they might work there to help us with an order. NOTHING!!!! We decided to leave and even then, when we walked across the entire restaurant and out the door not a single person noticed or asked why. Tables were seated, ordered and served their main course before he came back for us to order ours, and a second round of drinks. The drinks came soon enough, but the food took forever. About the food: I will have to say - the highlight of the evening. I had the Chile Relleno stuffed with ground beef and it was superb. My Colleagues at the table were very happy with their food as well. After we sat for another very long time, I had to wave down somebody for the check (which came right away). We were looking for somewhere for a quick snack. This place was so great that we ended up eating a lot more than we should have! SOOO good!! First, we were brought chips with 2 types of salsa, one hot, one smoky. Both were amazing, very flavorful. It was just enough so that we weren't hungry, but no so much that we were full. We had tostones, empanadas, tacos and sopesitos. Everything tasted really good with just the right amount of seasoning. And plenty of fresh guacamole! All of this for less than $40! I ordered two chicken tacos and a chicken burrito for pick up. When I picked the other up there was a miscommunication they gave me two orders of chicken flauta. Now mistakes happen. I'm not upset over that. I'm upset because when I said no I order two chicken tacos the man argued with me and insisted that I ordered chicken flauta. The place is very well decorated and the food is very good but the service is terrible. They come to you in the beginning to get your drink and food order and that's about it. I have been here twice and both times I had the same experience. The servers do not check on you throughout the meal to see if you need anything. If you need another drink you have to be the one to get up and get their attention. When you finish your food, they come get your plates but never ask if you want coffee or dessert. They don't seem to understand how to keep the meal flowing. You have to be willing to flag the wait staff down and take the initiative to request what you want throughout the meal because they will not come to you willingly. Making eye contact with them or even just staring at them isn't enough. read more
