I am sitting inside waiting for my food. I think it will be good. I am ordering enchiladas and decided to get guacamole too. I have been wanting to get this for a while. Easy enough to find. Okay, had my food, or part of it. The enchilada dinner at $20 could have been shared by two people. The enchiladas were perfect, well cooked and assembled, loaded with cheeses. I loved the yellow rice and refried beans, yum. The only thing I did not have was a margarita. It came with sour cream and mole sauce. I like hamburger and this was excellent. Everything!! I live in Providence, RI and often in Rye to see family. This is the best Mexican food in the world. Best chicken fajitas served with beans, incredible rice, guacamole and sour cream on a sizzling plate with soft tacos. Just amazing. And their spicy Tanteo margarita is heaven! Located in Port Chester near the Home Depot. There is parking in the back. The place looks kind of dingy from the outside but the restaurant was clean. The old lady who worked there was nice and spoke good English. I got 3 steak tacos on corn tortillas. The tacos came folded in two tortillas per taco, and were dusted with a Mexican cheese. The steak cut into strips and was well seasoned. Some pieces weren't as tender, but the flavor was very good. I wish they had put some cilantro and diced onion on top as well. The meal came with a bag of chips and salsa which were delicious. For my first visit, I was impressed with the taste. This spot definitely whips up great authentic tacos. I was disappointed with how long they took to make my order, they took nearly 25 minutes. The three tacos costed nearly $18, but I recommend trying Coyote Flaco. read more

Coyote Flaco's enchiladas are among the best - I will acknowledge some days the food is better than other days, but generally it's always very good to excellent. The portions have gotten smaller but the quality of the ingredients has been consistent. This is not the only Coyote Flaco ... but it may be the most accessible being so close to NYC... other Coyote Flacos are in more rural parts of New York and Connecticut and are also great in quality. But this location is particularly good because the owners are more closely involved: the service is always great and the atmosphere is fantastic. read more

Must be kids writing the reviews below. The food was awful. Chicken fajita was not strips of chicken like it used to and should be. It was a chopped up chicken in a sauce. The steak for the fajita was inedible. U couldn't even use ur teeth to rip it up it was that rubbery. We threw it out. Support this local business! It's in need of a facelift, but, the food 30 years later is still great. The drinks, tequila selection, Margaritas are great. The food is fresh and well prepared. *This review is for their online ordering setup and the staff that were working that day.* My coworkers and I placed an order online through their own website for pick up. When we got to the restaurant, the workers said that they don't have the order at all. They also mentioned that they don't have access to the online orders. I'm not not sure how your online ordering process works, but it needs to be addressed. There was another customer who was there at the same time as us, and he had the exact same issue. We showed them the confirmation but they barely acknowledge it. What was supposed to be a quick pick up lunch order turned into us waiting longer than anticipated and planned for. To top it all off, they had the audacity to ask us to pay again when we already paid online! There were no apologies offered at all which would've been nice. Oh no! This was one of our favorite places but now it seems to be the next contender on Bar Rescue or Kitchen Nightmares. COVID-19 has disrupted quite a few restaurants and the symptoms are alive and well @Coyote Flaco Port Chester. The upstairs has been repurposed as living quarters, no doubt in an effort to keep the lights on (totally fine). But delivering subpar food, cold food, unrecognizable vegetables, and forgetting nearly every request your diners ask for is a sure fire way to end up with shuttered doors. This used to be THE go To Mexican eatery and now.... Let's just say the best part about this place was the sound system + the check. I've been going to Coyote Flaco for over 6 years. The service has NEVER been top notch just mediocre(servers always look miserable, like our being there is keeping them from more pressing things in their life) I've always forgiven and kept coming back. However, the service the past year has gone considerably downhill. I had to wait over 30 minutes to pickup my last 2 pick-up orders--despite ordering over an hour in advance. Plus, every single time I went to pick up, other pickup customers were waiting, fuming, angry, and/or quarreling with the workers because their food order was messed up or disappeared. Uber eats driver hurled profanity in front of a line of people because their order wasn't there and customer is still getting charged. My last order was lost God knows where, even though I had an emailed confirmation, they never received it. They felt bad, and after telling me to cancel the credit card payment for the order, they begged me to take all of someones food who never bothered to pick it up--this because after waiting over 30 minutes, kitchen was closing and they couldn't make my order. It's really sad, because the food isn't horrible and I like supporting small eateries. Boxcar Cantina in Greenwich isn't half as good foodwise, but service, vibe, edible food and professionalism keeps them in the game. We're not going back to Coyote Flaco, it's a total waste of time and money, the food isn't that great to make us go through that misery again. read more

I'll keep it simple for this small family owned gem where you will feel more like a guest at somebody's house rather than an actual restaurant. The food is made with love, making Coyote Flaco far better than any Americanized Mexican restaurant. My girlfriend had the Camarones al Ajo which is sautéed shrimp in garlic sauce and I had the Tampiquena Combo which is a grilled skirt steak with Mexican sausage and an enchilada suiza chicken, both served with rice and beans (see pictures below). The service is good as our waitress was attentive and pleasant. The drinks are solid however my only issue was the informative upgrade on the tequila. We both ordered margaritas that were listed at $10 each with the option of several tequilas. When I mentioned the preferred tequila which was on the list for that specific margarita, the waitress just said "Patrón?" so I figured that was normal for that drink until the check came -- which showed $15 per drink so just be careful! For dessert, we both had the tres leches which I can tell was homemade based on how moist but not soggy it was. In conclusion, we had a great dinner and will be back! read more

I have to say that this is our favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is always delicious and fresh. The strawberry margaritas are so delicious they even brought out what was left in the blender. This is not a restaurant that you drive-by- go in, You won't be disappointed. I have been going here for years this place used to be great that used to be clean friendly delicious. They used good quality ingredients it was well prepared and well served. The last three times I went it has been disgusting poor quality cuts on the chicken and steak fajitas. They come and blow out the Bunsen burner's after two minutes so they can reuse them the drink glasses have gotten smaller the side dishes don't come around and they charge you more than the menu prices without telling you. Honestly, the food would be 4 stars by itself but the service and the freshness of everything offered put our visit into the 5 star category for me. The sangria was definitely home made and the fruit was fresh. Salad and dinner offerings were good, with some fresh sweet crab in the Enchiladas Cancun. When we visited, the food was not microwaved and prepackaged (as a few reviewers mentioned). It looked and tasted very fresh - and used fresh vegetables throughout. When my husband was trying to decide whether or not to order a second sangria, I said, "Go ahead,it's your birthday!" We didn't ask for nor expect any special treatment, but after dinner, the server brought my husband a flaming shot of tequila, on the house. And then, out came all the servers carrying a small slice of cake with a candle, singing Happy Birthday. Wow, what an amazing place. This place was discovered after a long delay in New York traffic. Our schedule was put way off and we need a place to get a good bite to eat and we discovered this place after a good search in the GPS and Yelp. We opted to sit outside in the beautiful weather in a quaint court yard. If you are not careful, you can easily miss this place with all of the trees and shrubs around it. The service was impeccable. Everyone was very nice and very accommodating. The service was amazingly fast also. That had to be the shortest wait I have ever had from the time I placed my order to the time the food was in front of me. My meal, the steak Enchilada Rojos was great. My meal was nice and hot and the steak was not over cooked. The meal came with rice and black beans that were also very well prepared. The plate presentation was very well executed also. Undoubtedly, if you are passing anywhere near Port Chester, NY you should stop by and give this place a shot.
