After eating a couple of times at Salsa Fresca, I can say that the food is pretty standard fare. It's a little lacking in authentic seasoning but I still think it can be a good option to chow down on if you're in the area and desiring freshly made nachos or quesadilla. It's also great that they have vegan protein options such as chipotle lime tofu. I've had the burrito again and it was okay. I would probably opt to get it without any beans next time. It tasted much different than the first time I had it. I've also had the chance to try the queso and it reminds me of those cracker and cheese snacks in the rectangular containers. I see the peppers in it but the taste doesn't come through all that much. I appreciate that they have dessert snacks. So we came for the first time and absolutely loved it! My daughter and husband got burritos, my son kids meal tacos and I got the taco salad. They have 6 different salsa, all kinds of proteins, meats and veggie options. We especially love that our kiddos love the food! Big winner! read more

Salsa Fresca may have identity problems being compared to that other Mexican Grill chain named after a smoked jalapeño pepper (cough, cough, Chipotlé), but they lack the marketing prowess of that burrito juggernaut. SF's burritos are roughly half the size, even though their prices are almost identical. They try to make up the difference by giving a bag of tortilla chips & salsa with your order. Just give me more burrito and I'll be happy. I have to admit that the ingredients are very fresh (living up to their name) and offer a wider variety in their menu than (cough, cough). But (cough, cough) homes into their targeted demographic like a laser, offering exactly what the people want, while their competitors are wallowing in their wake. The presentation was good, but when the food arrived it was cold. I know it must have been cold since the start as the cheese was not even melted. I was disappointed by this. I ordered food through door dash and was told the food would be delivered in 45 min. After about an hour, I called the Door Dash driver to find out his ETA because the order was overdue for delivery. The driver would not answer my calls and did not respond back on text. So I called the restaurant . The person at the restaurant told me he was sorry and said that earlier today someone had ordered food and it was never delivered either. I was so frustrated I told the guy that I just wanted a refund and was then informed I would have to call door dash for that refund. About 10 min later, the Driver texted me back (while I was on hold for door dash). The driver texted "do you still want your food?" Before I even had a chance to text back the driver called me and said he was at the restaurant to pick up the food. However, my order was apparently never received in the restaurant from Door Dash, even though I received a notification on the app that the order was being made. The restaurant worker got on the phone and I had to give my entire order over the phone. When I finally received my food it was almost 2 hours since I initially ordered. But of course there were more problems to come. We ordered quesadillas and they put the quesadillas in the smallest box ever so they were all smushed up and a complete mess. Called the restaurant back to inform them of the mess and the guy hung the phone up on me. This restaurant needs to invest in larger to-go containers and Door Dash needs to improve their app so they are more reliable. Also, I am still waiting on hold to speak to someone at Door Dash. And I mean undercooked as in crunchy. Big portion of it. Chicken was mediocre. Other toppings were solid though. And chips on side were nice but stale. Not the cleanest place either--ugh. When I asked about a kids meal I was only told to pick something but was not informed no drink just chips. Don't want your kid eating chips, too bad. No exchanges. Full charge for a healthier option. This is a major flaw. Chipotle offers the kids menu with healthy options. Upon going to pay up I was THRILLED that they has a Boylan's soda fountain. It's a rarity to find in these areas. I mentioned it to the cashier and she really could've cared-less. Is there something below caring? Possibly bordering on making a customer feel uncomfortable about being excited about a product? That describes that moment with that cashier. Since all the food hadn't gotten to us yet I asked for chips. She rang me up instead of telling me "no need! Everyone gets chips" and was more than unhappy to take the chips back. When she explained how the kids meal worked to me I asked for a cup with a straw and cap. I am one of those people comparing this small chain to Chipotle. This place begs to be compared to Chipotle. If you're going to look, sound, and act like Chipotle, expect a tough comparison. It's not good. No steak offering. No white rice (they use Spanish). Meats and other ingredients seem inferior to their billion dollar brother. The one redeeming factor is the Boylan's soda fountain.
