Carne Asada Burrito (dairy free no sour cream)

$11 burritos are hard to beat. Fast, quality service and big portions. Situated the middle of a large food cart pod with tented seating options.

First time trying this food truck and was unfortunately disappointed by the quality of the rice :( I got the Carnitas Enchilada Burrito ($13) with Double Rice and the burrito was very good! Lots of flavor from the enchilada sauce and the carnitas were well made! BUT the rice left much to be desired, it was completely unseasoned, with no flavor AT ALL and it essentially tasted like plain white rice. I had to pour some green salsa onto it to give it something to eat it.

Third night of this work trip, and we were craving Mexican food. Ended up at La Jarochita due to their solid Yelp reviews. It was nice that they were located in this food truck park, so a few of my coworkers split off and grabbed stuff from the other trucks. I went with a tofu burrito. Price and wait time were reasonable. Burrito was delicious. Could've use some (or extra) seasoning on the tofu but it was still a great burrito that I would get in again.

As a taco truck owner from Las Vegas The jarochita 3 meat burrito was the BEST I've had in Portland. Asada, Pastor, and Pollo all well seasoned and fresh mixed together, and to top it off, we got complimentary tortilla chips ,pico de gallo, and 4 kids of salsas. It was raining, and I was hungry didnt have time to take a picture, but it is definitely highly recommended. They are OGs in the Taco game, have been in business 10+ years

The al pastor torta was so good I almost made a mess in my pants. I was struggling to grasp the idea of something being so good. I will DEFINITELY be coming back trust .

I've always had the tacos here, and they deliver on the price and taste Department. I've had the #7 sausage breakfast burrito two date in a row. The first day was with everything and the second day was with no rice. I like the no rice option better. It's a nice medium sized burrito, the kind where you are full but not full for the next 12 hours and in a Semi Food coma. The sausage is perfect and a chunk in every bite, gooey cheese and flavorful beans. And the tortilla holds it all together well. You may see a line but it's there for a reason also check out the #26 burrito and thank me later.

I enjoy coming to La Jarochita whenever I can . I'm fortunate enough to live close by and each visit impresses ! I love ordering multiple menu items especially because their prices are super inexpensive. The bar area is delightful with friendly employees. The cooking and preparation of the food never disappoints here . My go to is asada tacos ( only $3 each or $14 for a combo ) . The sopes are hands down the biggest and crunchiest I've ever had ! We personally love to do vegetarian sopes with beans on the masa topped with amazing fresh veggies . The Huevos en Green Salsa is served with eggs, potato, spinach, avocado, beans, and rice with whatever choice of tortilla on the side . They are really generous with portions and give multiple tortillas along with whole bottles of your choice of salsa . If you're looking for a quick bite to eat or even a casual sit down lunch of traditional Mexican cuisine this is the place for you ! Thank you for the awesome food and experiences La Jarochita .

Taco Combo (2) $6.50: Flour tortilla, Asada (?), beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, guacamole and pico de gallo
    Elena N.

We all had an early lunch, so we were all starving come dinner time. Since we were in a food stall area, we decided to grab dinner from some of the food stalls. There weren't that many open at the moment, so a couple friends and I picked La Jarochita. We stopped by on Thursday, December 29th around 7:30pm. I got two Tacos ($1.50 each): one Chicken and one Asada (steak) on Corn tortillas. All tacos are served with lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, cheese and sour cream. (I asked for no sour cream on my tacos.) The tacos were a good size for the price and totally hit the spot! I liked the steak one more than the chicken one since the meat had more flavor. I found it more satisfying. Another friend got the Taco Combo (2) $6.50: Flour tortilla with choice of meat, beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, guacamole and pico de gallo. I believe his choice of meat was Asada (steak) as well, but I can't recall. Good spot to feed our hungry bellies. And the tacos are such a great deal at $1.50 each!

    Veggie burrito!

I Ordered breakfast veggie burrito with egg. Seems they missed the egg. Never mind. Glad they are open on a snowy day with ice rain predictions. Wanted to eat my lunch from a food cart. There were a number of meditarian , Mexican and Thai carts that were open. I decided to go with Mexican after taking a round of the carts. The menu mentioned few veggies that I could hardly see or taste in my burrito. I tasted onions and some lettuce. Overall it was warm and decent tasting burrito I could ask for on a snowy day. The green salsa was good. Burrito was for $6. They do charge a flat fees if you use your visa. Want to try their veggie Tacos next time. Glad I tried them.

Fast forward to today when my flight got in early and I saw they were open. Came in around 11ish when many of the food carts looked like they were just starting to prepare food. Found Bing Mi behind the Beer Garden stage. After looking at the menu, I couldn't pass up trying the roast duck. I ordered the loaded roast duck Jiang Bing with mild sauce. I paid with my card, was given a number and took a seat at the communal wooden picnic tables. When I got my food, I could see it was a solid amount. Two Jiang Bing halves. The only thing I didn't really see was the roast duck. Before I get into that though, I just want to say you can tell how much care the people who work here put into their food. If there's a line, they don't rush the process. The crepe outside is perfect and the crispy wonton pieces in the middle are the star of my Jiang Bing. Their cucumbers are fresh. You can taste the sauce. I just would have wanted a little more meat so it wasn't so much crepe and crispiness. I give them a solid 4.5 though. I couldn't finish both halves of my Jiang bing because it's filling. I suggest bringing someone who will want to share food. I may be back to try their handmade dumplings next!

Although it is still new and not all the spaces are filled yet, it seems like it will be a great place to dine there on nice weather days. I had already tried their bingsu food cart. This time I tried the Shawarma House. There are about 3 food carts that serve similar or the same food. I had the triple meat plate. It consisted of lamb, chicken and beef. It came with pita bread and hummus and tzatziki sauce. The sauce that drizzled on top was good but I couldn't quite tell what it was. The lamb meat was by far the best. The chicken and beef was okayed. Hummus and tzatziki serving was large. I wish I had more pita bread so I didn't have to waste the dipping. There was a good amount of rice under the meat. The plate was good overall but there was not enough sauce drizzled on the top. As a result, everything seemed dry.

I went with their recommendation and ordered the No. 1 Chicken Shawarma Wrap, and it was fantastic. The shawarma itself was juicy and packed with flavor, and it balanced really nicely against the fresh vegetables and the tanginess from the pickles. The fluffy garlic sauce inside is airy, garlicky, and almost feels whipped, but the pro move is definitely to ask for extra along with some of their house made hot sauce on the side. Everything is wrapped and griddled to toasty perfection, making it an ideal compact grab-and-go lunch, or a great meal to enjoy more leisurely at one of the shaded picnic tables. One thing to note is that the orders do take a bit of time, so it is not the best option if you are in a rush. That said, it is absolutely worth it if you have a little time and patience, so just grab a brew, relax, and enjoy the weather while you wait.

Unfortunately, I came away pretty disappointed. Everything except the pork belly was actually really good. The rice had a good texture and separate grains. The fried egg was crispy and had a nice runny yolk. The cucumbers had a nice thickness and crunch to them (could been colder though). The prik nam pla (fish sauce, chiles, maybe a little lime?) was really great -- something about the flavor really popped for me and was tasty. And everything was served hot and fresh. But the pork belly sucked, and that kinda ruined the dish for me. The fatty parts weren't melt-in-your-mouth at all. They were just chewy. The skin wasn't crispy, it also was chewy. The meaty parts weren't juicy at all, they were tough. I dunno, everything about it seemed wrong. And getting the pork belly right seems like a crucial part of the overall dish. After eating maybe 1/3 of the pieces of pork belly, hoping each time that the bad pieces were just outliers, I gave up and just pushed the rest of them to the side while I ate the rest of the dish. The culinary experience was truly remarkable, and the customer service was exceptional. The restaurant's location is also highly favorable, contributing to its overall appeal. As a Jamaican who grew up in the Miami neighborhood known as "Little Haiti," I have had ample exposure to Haitian cuisine, particularly griot. My childhood memories include saving my allowance to purchase griot from a Haitian lady's house on Fridays, with the assistance of a neighbor who spoke her language. My first taste of griot occurred when I was 11 years old. I felt compelled to share this background information to establish my credentials in assessing the quality of Haitian cuisine.
