Fantastic burritos! We tried the birria burrito and the carne asada and carnitas burrito, and both were packed with meat. The birria was incredibly tender and flavorful, while the carne asada and carnitas paired perfectly with the Mexican rice and guacamole. What really took the burritos to the next level were the salsas. The salsa verde was my favorite--it had just the right amount of spice and acidity to brighten up every bite. I also loved that they crisped the flour tortillas on the grill, which added such a satisfying texture. The food did take a little while to come out, but it was absolutely worth the wait. I also ordered the strawberry horchata, which was a great value at $6. It tasted house-made, and I loved that they used fresh strawberries. I'm on a bean-burrito kick and someone recommended this cart. Good one! Hefty, good beans, right amount of cheese, excellent salsa. Strawberry horchata is great too! (And I don't even like strawberry ice cream.) They blend up whole strawberries in it. Those two items are top-notch; I'll have to come back and try other stuff -- or maybe stick with the winner! Cheers to this truck for being in a tough area! Right off Burnside in a "park" that scares off most, you will probably take your food to go. The service is quick and the staff are friendly. $13 for the "taco plate" with 4 tacos filled with your choice of meat. I chose Al pastor for all 4, but I imagine you can mix it up. They don't skimp on cilantro, which I appreciate. It came with some grilled peppers, which I didn't eat much. Overall, pretty decent tacos. read more

We hadn't been to Kim Jong since they moved to Cartblocks so we decided to check them out. Now, I love KJG, but they were out of almost everything by the time we got there. My husband got something there, but I meandered on over to this cart. I love tortas so much, but I recently have been liking birria too. It can be hard to choose between the two. I had not heard of this cart before, so I decided to check out the menu... sweet swirling asparagus tips!! They have a birria torta! It's like a flipping French dip but with a delicious torta instead. I immediately ordered it. It came with hot sauce and consommé. I couldn't wait to get home to try it. It was amazing!!! They guy helping me (who refused to give me his name) became instantly hostile and refused to correct the mistake. He even had the nerve to tell me to go to Chipotle if I didn't like it! He then, very rudely, offered to return my money but only on the condition that I throw away the food in the trash where he can see me do it. UNBELIEVABLE!! I was so excited to finally visit the ethnic food trucks in downtown Portland. The biggest problem is, everything looks so delicious and it's hard to decide which cuisine to choose from. I was in the mood for Mexican food and I found Villa. There was a line so I knew it was good. Although lunchtime was sort of calming down so the line went quickly. I was greeted by a lovely and kind young woman who took my order. I ordered a burrito and added extra avocado to it. It was very big in portion and it only cost me about $11. Walking around is so fun because you get the Portland culture and vibe! The burrito was so yummy and I had to eat it and breaks, it was so large. Still trying to find Mexican food that will please my Californian born-and-bred taste buds. This place has decent burritos for $7 (and "big" burritos with twice the meat for $8). I liked that they were filled with allll the essentials: beans, rice, sour cream, guac, lettuce, and pico de gallo and all the ingredients were pretty evenly distributed. Every bite was delicious. As an added twist the burritos were lightly grilled before being neatly wrapped up and bagged. They offer two salsas/hot sauces in hot and mild (green and red -- though honestly it was hard to tell which was which). The red sauce was smokey-spicy and the green was very citrus-y. Both pretty good and medium-hot. I'm a Valentina hot sauce kind of girl myself, which these certainly were not. Good enough for a return trip -- I'm excited to try their breakfast burritos. Food truck Realness! Walked around food truck village on a Friday night, was disappointed that hardly anything was open. Mostly middle eastern cuisine. Stumbled across this little taco spot and with a line outside I knew it was going to be a hit. Ordered the 3 taco combo that came with beans and rice. It took about 10 min to get the food, which didn't surprise me with the line. And it was worth it. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The tacos were perfect size for a mid evening snack/dinner - quick stop to get food in the stomach before continuing to drink for the night - the rice was a nice balance, it was just a simple white rice with a side of beans that had great flavor.
