I usually don't find great Mexican anywhere in Oregon, but this place is definitely the exception. The decor is very traditional, clean, and colorful. The waiter greets you like family, and followed by some recommendations on drinks and food. Once you take the first bite you'll be taken to a trip to our neighbors down south. Went here while on a family vacation to Wallowa Lake. We had a lake side rental house and the mother-in-law wanted Mexican so this was the closest place to the lake. Burritos and enchiladas my wife and I ordered were sparsely sauced, and chips came very late due to having a large party. There were some other complaints among the group, but as a whole we agreed it was passable Mexican food, but we have a very large Hispanic population in our home city so we normally enjoy top quality Mexican food. Wouldn't have expected a great Mexican restaurant in Enterprise, OR; but I'd return every time I'm here. Advised to dine here by the couple who run the Wilderness Inn next door. Waitress was extremely kind and helpful; followed her suggestion and got the Chicken en mole - was fantastic! Salsa loca and smoky oil to put on the chips and added a side of guacamole. Against my better judgment, I chose to be lazy and not cook dinner on our last day at Wallowa Lake , so we stopped at La Laguna, the food tasted great, my 8 year old son had the carnitas tacos, around 11:45 that night he proceeds to throw up until 2am , I think the pork was bad and for a $60 meal you wouldn't expect that kind of quality, we won't be back sorry read more

We rarely eat Mexican while on vacation, but this place came highly recommended by our local horseback trip guide. Ate with the family on the patio during a perfect summer evening. After walking out due to horrible service at the Outlaw restaurant down the street we decided to try out la Laguna. We were treated so well here! Super attentive and friendly staff. When we were first seated outside no one informed the waiter of our presence because we were there for a good 15 minutes without service. Finally we went inside and flagged down the manager. Fun family Mexican-American restaurant with a friendly owner. Quality of food has gone down over the years (we go every year on vacation) and portion sizes have gotten smaller. The veggie fajitas are by-and-large the best item on the menu but also the most expensive. The pork verde burrito I ordered was cooked with pork that tasted old and freezer-burned. Sorry, super nice people but drinks and food not so good. Cadalac Margaritas small, extremely sour and no premium liquor on top, liquor was premixed. Ordered fajitas and side plate of lettuce, sour cream and beans which was tiny! Add this that they only offered 2 tortillas and the beef had no seasoning at all. We chose this restaurant because it looked warm and inviting. We showed up 20 minutes before close and they still acted warm and friendly. The service was wonderful, atmosphere was soothing, and the food was delicious. I have tummy issues and was paranoid about eating Mexican food on vacation, but this was delicious and no side effects. You can even see them cook in the kitchen, they have nothing to hide. I ordered beef enchiladas with beans and rice and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there wasn't very much rice or beans. It's a smaller portion size, still filling but I wanted to be stuffed. :) I would definitely return here, and maybe order an appetizer. read more

Chose this place because another restaurant we wanted to go to first was closed. And boy am I happy that first restaurant wasn't open because we had such a fabulous experience here. I grew up in my families Mexican food restaurant so I feel like I can be picky when I go out to eat Mexican food. This place not only had a great indoor and outdoor seating area, the staff was incredibly friendly. The food was prepared quickly and the portions were big and perfect. We bought a couple bottles of their house made sauces to take with us as well. Basically, this is a new favorite for me and my family now when we are out here staying at the lake. Was in Joseph for Chief Joseph Days, and this was one of the only places open past 10, so the GF and I went in hopes of catching a great, late-night meal and margarita. We did not get that...damn it. Once we were sat, we discovered that this establishment had the RUDEST bus boy I have ever heard of. I'm not sure if he was trying to be funny, but he was just a sarcastic jerk to not only us, but other customers we overheard. On that note, we asked for more chips and salsa at one point...he brought salsa. That's it...he was not funny. Just a d-bag. We DID like our waitress though, who was funny and outspoken and a cool lady, but I wish she had the power to do something about all the consumables. We each ordered a specialty margarita, and they both tasted like fake, sweetener mixed with fake tequila with a splash of other fake items. No bueno...then EVENTUALLY came the food. My gf got chicken fajitas, or as we saw it as, cheap rice and beans with a few charity pieces of chicken and 2 tortillas. Not enough chicken, not enough tortillas, not enough FOOD for the price. I got the specialty chicken enchilada which was supposed to come with a big side of rice and beans. It came by itself...I asked the "fantastic" bus boy if it was supposed to come with it, and he replied with "Oh, it comes on the inside," and asked if I wanted to order a separate side. Terrible...the actual enchilada wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything special, and MOS DEF not worth 10 bucks. To be blunt, this place sucked. Overpriced, bad food with mediocre service that's not worth the sit-down time. I LOVED Joseph, but will for SURE not come back here during my next visit. read more

Came here with my boyfriend and his family while we were visiting Oregon. One night we went to the one in Enterprise because there was literally no other place open to get a drink, so we had to resort to a Mexican place. It was 9:30pm, and it was not extremely busy but they only had one person taking orders. It took 15 minutes just to get chips and salsa and another 10 for us just to order drinks. It also took forever just to get our bill. Then we decided to try the one in Joseph for dinner. The waiter was nice but he was a little over the top with his jokes and sarcasm. It also took another 15 minutes to get our chips and salsa and to take our order. The food did get out quick, but we were not at all impressed by what we got. Very small portions for $10.00 and very very bland food. I got an enchilada and a Chalupa- very flavorless and two of our meals were missing sour cream, which the waiter insisted would be added. We then asked for more chips and salsa- it never came. The margaritas we got were hardly blended- had big chunks of ice in them that shouldn't had been there and they were very weak. I would recommend the other Mexican place in town- it is more worth your money. read more
