I came to Level 8 for an 18+ event and, overall, I had a good time--but there were definitely some bumps along the way. The biggest issue was the staff and communication. The staff didn't seem very familiar with the ongoing events, and communication felt lacking. The check-in process also came across as unnecessarily difficult, with some of the staff seeming to take their authority a little too seriously. I was even turned away at the door despite being 18+ for an 18+ event. Since there was no time limit or restriction preventing me from entering, I was eventually allowed in. What stood out even more was that, after reading some of the recent reviews, it appears I'm not the only person who has experienced issues with the bouncers and what comes across as an unnecessarily aggressive or confrontational approach to deciding who gets in. The overall impression is that some of the door staff seem more focused on exercising their authority than creating a welcoming experience for paying guests. My advice: avoid the unnecessary hassle at check-in and walk in confidently like you already know what you're doing. That said, once inside, the venue itself was a lot of fun. Golden Hour Poolside had plenty of space to dance, which made it one of my favorite parts of the night. Lucky Mizu was a bit small for a party venue, but the complimentary drinks for this particular event were a great touch. Mr. Wanderlust was PACKED and definitely hot, but it had a fun energy and was great for dancing. Despite the frustrating check-in experience, I didn't let it ruin my night. The venue has a lot going for it, and I ended up having a great time. Hopefully, Level 8 can improve communication between event organizers and staff and address the concerns surrounding the door staff. The venue itself has a lot of potential, and a smoother, more welcoming check-in experience would make a huge difference. read more

We decided to stop in for the Ecuadorian food festival and honestly left disappointed. We drove a long distance expecting a solid representation of Ecuadorian culture and food, but that wasn't the case. Parking alone was $25. The event was advertised as free, yet they were charging a $20 cover at the door. We showed the flyer to the lady at the front and she was nice about it--she told the guy at the door to just give us wristbands and let us in. I'm not sure how many people ended up paying for something that was supposed to be free, but it doesn't sit right. Once inside we took the elevator up to the 8th floor, which was actually pretty cool. There were various restaurants and lounges to sit and hang out. The problem was that only one restaurant was open, and there were maybe 8-10 tables total--all of them full. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be a common theme: staff often don't know what's going on and things aren't always as advertised. There was a set Ecuadorian menu with three appetizers, three or four chicken dishes, and three seafood options. That was it. As for the "vendors," there was only one table selling Ecuadorian goods and it was very limited--a bowl of bracelets, a few license plates that said "Ecuadorian," a couple ponchos, and maybe five or six Ecuador World Cup soccer shirts. Super underwhelming. There was also supposed to be live entertainment, but that never happened either. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would, I've been coming here for the past 2 years to celebrate my birthday and have never had an issue, idk what has changed but literally am so disappointed today!! We took it upon ourselves to come early to get a good spot for the fireworks show and got a good spot next to the window (between Brown sheep taqueria and Mother of pearl on the patio) We were having a good time, buying food, drinks etc. mind you it's 3 of us and 3 drinks is coming out to almost $80pp, which is fine we're paying for the drinks and atmosphere. We each bought 2 of those rounds some paying more because it included food, at one point I get up to buy another round & as I'm waiting for my drinks I see the manager come and tell them to clear our table (he didn't know I was sitting at said table ) the guy making my drinks says they're still eating and having drinks, the manager (Louis) says it looks like they're done to me, he walks away and even they say like why does he always come over here acting like we don't do our job it's crazy. I drop off my drinks and run to the restroom, not even 5mins, I come back and I don't see my party, I look around and now they're sitting at another area not near the window where we had originally came earlier to secure. I was a little upset but it was fine we could still see fireworks, it was fine, NOT EVEN 15mins LATER they come again and tell us to move because they have an event starting at 10pm, it is barely 9pm. I express my frustration to the guy that just moved us here, like why would you sit us here to tell us to move 15mins later?! I said is there anything u can do for us, nothing, I asked for the manager, did he come? no! A security comes telling us to move, yes a little nicer but it was more of a let me be more nice so yall can move, asked him for the manager, said he would get him, we stepped out and to the side and waited, saw him talk to the manger they laughed, the manager then went on to record the fireworks and left, we went back to the security and asked if he was going to call the manager again and he seemed annoyed at this point like we were the inconvenience. The manager finally comes and we tell him everything the happened and how we felt after spending well over $300 and he basically looked at us like we were stupid and basically said oh we're having an event so yeah and I said we spent our time, my bday, our money to be here and that's it? And he said well if u wanna sit in the oyster bar(a restaurant that was closed BEHIND WHERE EVERYONE ELSE WAS, BEHIND THEIR SECURITY STANTONS, AWAY FROM EVERYONE NO BAR, NO NOTHING LOL We asked him what his name was he said LOUIS, and left. I understand you're running a business and want to get all the money you can for the next event coming in but that is no way to treat already paying customers that took the time to come to your establishment to spend a holiday and hard earned money when there is literally 1000s of places in Los Angeles and that's upsetting. I know my little review may not make a big difference but I hope it shapes your decision in the next place you spend your money at because there are certainly way better places with way better prices and 100% way better CUSTOMER SERVICE! I'm not sure how to describe a place like this. Batman meets Las Vegas, meets Greek rush week during an indoor Coachella. It's all the things, too many things, and not enough of some things. Wait... what was that Best Movie award for 2 years ago? "Anything, Everywhere, All at Once". There. That's Level 8. That means you'll either love it, hate it, respect it, or simply don't get it. From what I understand, Level 8 is essentially eight different themed bars and restaurants stacked together like a Vegas casino that couldn't decide on one concept. It's ambitious, chaotic, and definitely not for the faint of heart. But if you're the type who loves sensory overload, party energy, and a little bit of everything all at once, this place is basically your Disneyland. We ate at Maison Kasai, their teppanyaki restaurant, and I have to admit, it's one of the better teppanyaki experiences I've had, and I've traveled quite a bit for this style of dining. Teppanyaki itself is simple, so the magic is always in the details: service, timing, and the unexpected touches. For example, we were treated to a magic show before dinner (probably buying the kitchen some prep time). It was clever, fun, and actually set the tone nicely. The rest of the evening followed suit: fire flair, great service, and well-executed food. The pumpkin miso soup appetizer in particular felt like something with a Michelin-level touch. Really impressive. After dinner, things go... full Level 8. There was a wrestling match, an outdoor pool area, a speakeasy that was anything but quiet, and so many people moving around it felt like intermission at a Billie Eilish concert. If you enjoy high-energy chaos and a party atmosphere, this place is absolutely for you. I'll probably come back at least once more--if nothing else, just to show my kids the spectacle. After that, I'll happily step aside and let the next wave of party people take over. read more

Very nice venue. Beautiful pools, cabanas, views. Needs help keeping food orders rolling. I was invited to a social event at this location with "LA Girl Code." It was advertised that in exchange for sharing feedback on the venue, we'd get to take photos on the roof and also get food. After waiting several hours, the "food" came in the form of ONE guacamole dip dish and a handful of tacos for over 30 women. It was laughable. It put a bad taste in my mouth for sure, however there may have been a disconnect with the venue and the group promoter. Not sure which one, but most of the girls left hungry and cranky. You just can't have that many people out getting drinks and dancing and then not deliver on the food. Because we had planned to eat, nobody ate beforehand. It may have been enhanced by the fact that there was another event going on, but either way, they should've been able to handle the orders at that capacity, otherwise don't allow that many people into a space. Again, it's a gorgeous venue. Hopefully you'll have a different experience under different circumstances. read more

Went to a Lunar New Year celebration hosted at Level 8 and it was such a cool experience. It was set up as an all-you-can-eat night market hosted by Jasper, and my buddy Sushi Mike was in the dedicated sushi room crafting fresh rolls all night. Watching him work added such a special touch to the evening. The food lineup was stacked with different cuisines to try, so you could bounce from room to room tasting something new each time. Everything felt festive and well curated. Service and overall flow were smooth, especially considering how many people were there. The staff kept things organized and the energy high. The ambience is what really makes it. Each room has its own vibe with performers, DJs, artists, and immersive decor. It felt like walking through different worlds all under one roof. Definitely one of the more memorable Lunar New Year events I've been to. read more

We attended the Chinese New Year event on Feb 26 that was advertised as "all you can eat and all you can drink." Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've ever had. Our group had 10 people and spent about $1,600, expecting a festive event with good food and drinks. Instead, the entire night was basically spent standing in lines and waiting for food that barely came out. The restaurant clearly oversold the event without having the capacity to serve the crowd. Examples from the night: * The lobster station was cooking only about 8 lobsters at a time, while 20+ people were waiting. * The sushi station had around 50 people in line, with a single sushi chef making less than one roll per minute. * Food trays were constantly empty and took a long time to refill. After hours of waiting, each person in our group ended up with only about two drinks, three very small sushi rolls, and a small scoop of fried rice. That was essentially the entire "all you can eat" experience. For $160 per person, this felt extremely misleading. When a restaurant promotes an unlimited food and drink event, customers reasonably expect that the restaurant has the staffing, food preparation, and logistics to actually deliver it. Instead, it felt like the event was massively oversold with insufficient food and staff, leaving many guests waiting in long lines most of the night. Paying $160 and leaving still hungry and barely having had anything to drink is unacceptable. This event was poorly planned and very disappointing. I would strongly recommend thinking twice before attending similar events here. read more

After ordering some food and a drink, I went to get a pair of pants for my friend and when exiting received a few inappropriate comments from the guys at the door. When I got back (about 5 min later) the one kid left at the door told me I could not go back inside as they were no longer letting people in. Everyone was nice, but it was a bit weird to see so many people in their 30s, 40s and 50s dressed up to go clubbing. I think it's worth a trip to see all the different rooms, from burlesque, to Hookah lounge, to rooftop patio with winter vibes, to Taco Truck overlooking the LA skyline. For me the bartenders and food truck service was okay, quick , and a lot of waiting at the food truck ... but it was worth it. I got LAVA COLADA AND MAI TAI. I Think for $22 the lava colada was worth it , because of the vibe and view. I've paid more for less of a view and a drink that's not as yummy . The fries was $8 by the food truck, and I got the corn in cup there too which I really enjoyed !:) THE MR WANDERLUST ROOM, with live piano was so good! They have drinks that light on fire, RICO SUAVE $23 Tres Generaciones Reposado Tequila, Ancho Reyes, Pineapple, Cinnamon, Ginger, Citrus... The Parker house rolls, shrimp, crab fried rice. King salmon, wagyu steak, rib eye is good too. The service is on point and a little busy, but if you're patient, the folks are attentive. Level up to Level 8 for an absolutely mesmerizing time! I had no idea this place existed till my friends suggested we check out Winter Hour, a holiday-themed set up of snow-globe tables, snow bubbles, festive cocktails and s'mores-making at the fire pits. GA tickets were pricey at $40, but it came with a cranberry margarita that was pretty good. Fortunately, there was plenty of seating when we were there around 8pm on a Saturday night. The mystique carousel bar is hypnotizing. Nice city views and I loved walking around to check out the other restaurants and bars. I definitely want to return to Mr. Wanderlust, the jazz bar with Lyra dancer, Lucky Mizu for some hot pot and Que Bárbaro for some Latin fusion. The decor and themes of these places are breathtaking! Hope the food is just as remarkable. Parking in the building is $25 with validation. There is street parking and parking lots for a little cheaper in the area as well. read more

Sorry for the long narrative: 1) I planned out a special night for my wife throughout all of Level 8 2) Had reservations set at Lucky Mizu for Dinner to Mr. Wanderlust for Cocktails and Entertainment and then to Sinners and Santos for Drinking and Dancing for Latin Night 3) Showed up for our 6:45 PM reservation at Lucky Mizu but was turned away 3 times stating they didn't have seats available. After being seated 40 minutes later, service took 20 minutes to take our order, and another 30 minutes to be served. Food was 'okay', there was no entertainment, and multiple customers were unhappy with similar slow service... but some of them were comped parts of their meals.. we didn't even get a sorry until we spoke to the manager on our way out, expressing the reason was they had no idea it would be this busy on a Thursday (they take reservations, so...), and also blamed an 'all you can eat promotion' they promoted earlier, and they only had two serves on staff that night. 4) We were late to Mr. Wanderlust, but were luck to get two seats at the bar after another couple left. We order two cocktails and a coffee... and were charged just over $140. Then, we were asked to move because they wanted to take our seats. We asked about the bill to the bartendar, and she expressed that since she didn't take our original order, she couldn't help us. She simply just had us stand there. We were not going to pay since it seemed way off... until finally we spoke to a guy walking by. We showed him our ticket/receipt and said out loud, "this isn't right". He came back quickly with a revised bill of almost $120. This was still far too high, but no one else seemed interested in helping us find resolve, so we ate it since we didn't want to be late for part 3 of the night. 5) Hoping to salvage the night with drinks and dancing... we tried to find the entrance to Sinners and Santos for their advertised Latin night. We had made reservations here too, and had full confirmation of the reservation... BUT, after finally being directed to the entrance (outside on the patio), they were closed. No sign of why and no one who worked at the other locations had a reason, but they were just simply closed. 6) So, after paying $35 for parking, about $140 in cocktails and food while waiting for our initial reservation at Golden Hour and Que Barbaro, $150+ for dinner at Lucky Mizu, and $120 at Mr. Wanderlust... approximately $500 total... we didn't even get to dance. Maybe this place had a bad night, but based on what the workers said, and how they treated us... it sure seems like the norm. Don't get me wrong, the place is cool... some really great experiential elements and nice photo ops... but I would have had a much better time somewhere else. Had a great time until about 1AM. The bouncer at the exit of Sinners Y Santos was rude and creepy. His name started with an K. My friend didn't show him interest and he started coming up to us telling us what a high value man he was and he started to threaten us. We were so upset because we had such a good night and the band was so good. We felt so threatened and we left. Our group thought it was so much fun but the fact that a worker was making us feel uncomfortable for not flirting with him is making us rethink returning. We also reported this to 3 bouncers at the front and they just said they would talk him. So sad that this is such a cute place but the workers wouldn't stand up for us. read more

This place was absolute chaos in the best way possible LOL. We were staying right next door at the Moxy and saw a ton of people entering this Level 8 building so decided to check it out and the concept is awesome. Love that it's a ton of different themed bars in one building because there's really something for everyone! We started with Golden Hour that had a gorgeous carousel bar and pool. Very Instagram worthy but was a little chill for us so we checked out the other bars. Mr Wanderlust had a cute library feel and we snapped some pics there and then discovered our favorite.... Sinners Y Santos! This one looked like a club from outside so I was kind of expecting to have to pay cover but luckily it was free entry! Sinners Y Santos was such a fun mix of 19th central cathedral vibes with the ornate glasswork and chandeliers you'd see in that era but also a bumpin club with people dancing on tables AND in the next room above the bar area was a wrestling ring that had actual live wrestlers doing a show and pyrotechnics?! I mean WHAT?! Apparently it was a nod to El Santo a Mexican luchador and folk hero... what a fun concept!!! If you are staying in the Moxy or just happen to be near the convention center definitely check out Level 8. There is truly something for everyone! Such a cool concept with a variety of vibes. Variety of food, music and ambiance. I wish I would have actually been able to visit all 8, but only made it to Que Barbaro and Mr. Wanderlust. It's a show as soon as you walk in on the street level to the elevators with different graphics on the walls playing as you walk in. At Que Barbaro we claimed our free cocktail at the bar that you received when staying at the Moxy. It was Sunday and pretty slow, but such a beautiful ornate decor it had. Loved the chandelier. Another Wednesday we came for cocktails after dinner at Mr. Wanderlust. The entrance had a lovely dancer from the ceiling spinning around sitting on a hoop. Soon we were surprised by gorgeous singing pianist that came out of the wall. Later there were two live sings in stage and another appearance by the pianist, but this time she had a dancer in her piano. Such a fun time! The mistake wasn't yours but 2 guests tried to run up my bill while I was going to latrine. I paid my bill before I left but I felt uncomfortable doing it and I shouldn't be put in a situation to pay for 2 random people. I'll buy them a drink to bond but hey had no intentions to do that. They made me a white cloud and it is a part of how should I say my drinking repertoire there's several types, but there's a particular one that he made me that I would not disclose that goes impaired as well with my old-fashioned. I have brought a lady with me who is in town visiting from Colorado that ended badly but she'll take that night as a great memory regardless.. indubitably! I made online reservations for Golden hour for my birthday. What everyone should know is that golden hour is the rooftop bar that everyone sees online. To sit, you'll have to pay for a table. If you're like us and plan on spending a bit, a table works! Otherwise know that there are no tables for everyone to generally sit. We had food from the food truck while we were at Golden hour. Tacos were good! The rooftop is elegant and the vibes were there with awesome music. When we tried to enter the club(church theme) we were told it was $200 to get in. We mentioned that we just spent a crazy amount at Golden hour so they let us in. Music could have been better and it was just your typical bar. There are many other things to experience at Level 8. Came to Level 8 for the second time this past Saturday and had dinner at Lucky Mizu. The host was wonderful... super informative about the wait time and very welcoming. The venue itself is beautiful with great vibes. Unfortunately, we had an awkward interaction with a man I believe was one of the managers. He came over to the host stand and appeared to be scolding the hostess in front of guests, which was uncomfortable to witness. She looked visibly flustered afterward. He then tried to seat us but seemed unsure of what he was doing, sat us at the wrong table, didn't offer menus, and the whole interaction just felt a bit off. I highly recommend this place if you're in downtown LA. It's a playground for adults. I love all the twist and turns. It's like you're in one spot and end up in another space full of wonders. The pool area was my favorite. Drinks were well prepared, and the lounging chairs were comfortable as well. I went to almost restaurant and sampled their menu and was well pleased. If you're going to Sinners y Santos and NOT getting a table from Samantha... I genuinely don't know what you're doing. Here's how my night went: Bella sold the table (as she should), set everything up, and made the executive decision to seat us with Samantha -- which, in hindsight, felt less like a choice and more like a life upgrade. From the second we sat down, Samantha took over in the best way possible. Bottles hitting the table at perfect timing, sparklers going off like we were celebrating something important (we weren't), and somehow making us feel like VIPs even when we were just there for "one drink." And then there's Bella -- who not only got us the table but stayed making sure the vibes were actually worth the money. Think: hype woman and the reason the night never got awkward or boring.
