I do not normally post negative comments BUT I was very disappointed on the craft of the cake I ordered for the price I paid. The carrot cake itself was delicious but the decorating was not what I expected it to be including the cracking of the frosting all the way to the event. Maybe more research should have been done on my part prior to ordering. I had specifically asked for dark blue and this was more like royal blue. Last picture is what I asked for but the baby blue being dark blue instead vs. what I got. read more

Great bakery. In the heart of Dedham Square, this spot has now had a few bakeries, yet La Luce sets a high standard and is really the only bakery in town. Guarino's in Norwood is the closest comparison, yet I haven't come to a conclusion of which I prefer. The owner here, used to work at White's Bakery over in Brockton, a place I have always wanted to go and drive by at least once a month at WB Mason, but never have gone in (but I will next month!). Anyway, for the manager, who was extremely friendly and kind, and extremely knowledgeable about SO many different cakes and other pastries I asked him about. Basically, he had everything and more (is that possible?), and the multiple treats I bought were all incredible, and incredibly tasty. Would definitely return. Another gem in Dedham Square. Above average pastries but the customer service needs work, they act like you're bothering them when you walk in. Service is not much better even if you call ahead. Move over Crounut...there is something more amazing. This baker has taken merging breakfast pastries to a whole new level. Imagine a cross between a croissant and a cinnamon bun! It is called a Cinnamon roll but it is so much more. Just delicious. Having lived in Paris my expectations for croissant are very high, and they were not only met but exceeded. Many other confections are tasty but the Cinnamon Roll is just marvelous. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My first review was for a product they were trying when they were first opened. It was a cinnamon bun made of croissant dough, more in the shape of a muffin with bits of pistachio sprinkled on top. I went back remembering the delicious treat and wanted to get more. Now the cinnamon rolls are flat, dry and much less tasty. So sad. read more

Absolutely delicious and beautiful cakes and top-notch cooperative service. We've now come here twice for party cakes and will go no place else. LaLuce is a little more expensive than grocery bakeries, but there's absolutely no comparison in taste. This is our new go-to bakery (and we have to travel from Sharon!). The BEST cupcakes! You gotta try the hostess cupcake, I can eat like 6 at a time. Also great that they keep such a wide range of selections. You aren't choosing between chocolate or vanilla, you're choosing between 6-10 types of cupcakes daily. Caramel, Oreo, red velvet, lemon curd, etc. I've also tried the crepes which are excellent. I'm sure you heard that from other places that their food is great but what makes this place different is how immaculate and clean it is and how the owners stops by the tables to bring you anything you need and to ask how is the food. Visiting from Texas I enjoyed a wonderful massage next door before I happened upon this wonderful bakery! The Jamie was amazing and the many options make it difficult to choose. Jamie was very attentive to all the guest that came in while I was there, even remembering their names and favorite things. After pondering a bit with so many wonderful options I ended up with a box of croissants which could be disguised as authentic French pastry. I have an incredible sweet tooth. It was my birthday and we decided to get different slices/cupcakes for each member of the family instead of one cake. Everything looked amazing. It was hard to choose. But we did choose. Unfortunately, nothing we bought tasted good. The mocha cake was extremely dry, and the frosting was so plastic it seemed like it was from a Costco. I actually spit out the one bite I took of it -- and I NEVER turn down a dessert. The chocolate cupcake with sprinkles (kids' choice) was entirely mediocre and my kids didn't even want to finish the frosting. The flourless chocolate torte was far better, but still only middling. The ganache was delicious, but the cake was a bit grainy. I chalk that up to the almond flour that makes it gluten-free. Still, it was tasty. I will say, however, that it seemed like most of their business was from the cookies in the first glass case, and there were samples of something called an "Everything cookie" that were unbelievably delicious. I'd try this place again for the cookies, but not the cakes. read more

I have been craving an Oreo cupcake for a few days now. I was in the downtown Dedham area getting some housekeeping items out of the way when I searched for bakeries in the area and low and behold, I found this cozy bakery tucked right in the heart of downtown. The staff there was very kind and told me to take my time. I took home more than I could bargain for (Oreo cheesecake, Oreo cupcake and some Oreo and assorted cookies-freshly baked). I'm so sorry I do not recall the name of the young lady who assisted me but she was very warm, inviting and helpful. I am definitely going to return and recommend this shop to my friends. read more

The good: Great variety of choices. Clean. The bad: Ordered a mini cannoli, lobster cream puff, and a piece of chocolate cake. All tasted like they were a couple of days old. The cannoli lacked any crunch in the shell (part of it was soggy), and the pastry of the puff was stale. I did not taste the cake; but, was told it "tasted the same" as my description and the taster would not "go there again." Maybe visit "in a pinch" if it is on the way and you are supposed to bring dessert...otherwise skip. read more

Extremely disappointed in my recent experience with this shop. I ordered a rum cake on a Saturday for my mother's 85th birthday that would be the following Wednesday. A voicemail was left on my phone on Wednesday (the day I was supposed to pick up the cake) by the owner saying that they don't make rum cakes. My daughter saw rum cake listed on their online menu. And the young lady that I placed the order with did not inform me that they didn't make rum cakes. So obviously I could not give my mother her favorite flavor of cake on her birthday given the short notice by the owner. He should update the online menu and inform all staff about the selections they do or don't offer. Maybe the owner should check all orders that are placed on the day they are placed rather than waiting to check the orders on the actual day they're set to be made and picked up. Nothing was done on their end to try and rectify my situation. I was just left cake-less. I'm glad I didn't pay for it in advance. Definitely will not be placing anymore cake orders with this shop. read more

Probably the best croissants in a 150 miles radius, no contest. Those croissants can be sold in France and pass the Gallic test with flying colors. I used to go to Clear Flour Bread for my croissant fix, but in this case I must say that I have changed my mind... Now it's La Luce. I know of 3 shops in the US that provides this quality: The NECN Bakery in Montpelier, VT. Parc Restaurant in Philadelphia, PA, and La Luce, Dedham, MA. Now, it's up to you id you want to drive to VT or PA for a "petit dejeuner au croissants" :) but I would highly suggest the shortcut to La Luce. And while you're at it, try their Spinach and Feta Croissants, the Almond Croissants, and for breakfast indulge yourself with a Ham and Cheese Croissant. As for the cakes ... Really disappointed! It was my first time at La Luce and the woman behind the counter wasn't very friendly. I know people have their bad days, but first impressions are the truest.
