Stopped by at around 10am on a Sunday morning and experienced terrible customer service. I had ordered a caramel macchiato but forgot to tell them at the register I wanted it iced. Once I realized, I apologized and let one of the workers know. She immediately started shaking her head and scolding me for not saying it at the beginning. Then, she gave me a watered down, milky drink with hardly any coffee or caramel taste in it. When I told her it's watered down, she just said "well yeah, cause it's iced". She did not offer to remake it. In addition to that, while I was waiting for my take out order, she began complaining about other customers. I was right there, about 10 feet away. Read the sign before entering!! Unsatisfactory!! Should have known when we weren't greeted, only ordered to 'place order here not there,' not once but twice and with a rude manner. Once we ordered and sat down, it took forty minutes to get our food. We hadn't notice because we were there for a birthday dinner and in a celebratory mood--so nonstop conversations and laughs. When the food finally arrived, it wasn't all at the same time. The last plate to arrive was mine. While the careless worker served my food, she hits my baby's head pretty hard, with what seemed to be both her hand and plate, and of course the baby cried. Luckily, I remained composed and immediately calmed the baby down, as to not ruin other people's experience, but was boiling inside. She apologized but she had served the other plates just as careless and was the rude "greeter." The food wasn't good nor did it look appealing. Very disappointed with our experience and how far downhill this place has gone. The cleanliness is bad but thanks to the lighting you can't tell until you really look. Service is so slow. The cashier is also the only person taking orders, whereas they used to take orders and hand you your food cafeteria style. Now you walk past the food and order with the person at the end. So inefficient. You then go sit forever to wait for the food that is already ready. No more bread and jams. After standing in a super long line, they have the nerve to ask for a tip. Read more only if you are interested in management issues: The problem here is consistency. There are several long term staff managers and staff that are highly efficient and pleasant. But, many servers and bussers seem to have no idea how to provide good service to the customer. The older, stayed staff greet you at the door, with " Bon hour" with sincere welcoming. The new- bees, shall we call them, may or may not even come to help you. The register varies each time I go in there. So you have to ask, , " Which register do I go to to place my order?" Also, if you are lucky enough to find a washed, and clean table, you are expected to get your own silverware or coffee, drinks from the coffee bar. This would be fine, if the staff explain that to you when you first order your meal. But if bussing is taking place, the bussers are extremely loud, with dishes crashing into tubs creating a huge din. If you ask them to quiet down, they argue with you, sulk, and disappear into the never- world. Also, it says the hours are 8:30 AM but if you are unfortunate enough to try to get breakfast early as 8:30 there seems to be no one ready for you. The cooks try to accommodate you, but have no idea how to make a latte. And when you ask for eggs well done, they come out brown, and rubberized to the point of inedible pile of junk piled on your plate. So time your visit no earlier than 9:15 or 9:30 AM. And be prepared to be patient with the untrained new staff, untrained, and down right rude and incompetent. Hope for one of the three well trained, lovely stand - by people who keep the place going somehow. Bless them, because without them, this place would be a total loss. Also, the dining room is divided up into three sections, and has an out door patio. This was especially welcome during the COVID crisis. The place is so lovely, it's fun to go there and pretend you are in Paris, almost. We have seen a lot of improvement in some areas, but they need to hire someone to train them in the business of serving others. They need to realize that we, the customers, are the most important people in their world. The customer is always right! ( But you should tip well, and be courteous and respectful, as well). These days tips should never be below 20 %, and if good service if found, an encouraging 30% is called for! Rather than giving street beggars money, I like to reward the workers at the restaurants with a hefty tip! There's still some very talented workers here, and they deserve applause and if possible a raise and bonus) And the busser is much improved. I was surprised to see the 3 stars rating.. The plan was to go to Tia B's but the line was out the door and parking a long walk and my friend and I were getting hangry. So we ended up at La Madeleine's. This was my first time coming and the set up was not what I was expecting. You order they give you a wooden spoon, then you find your own seat. However, everyone working was very friendly and pleasant. We both ordered the same thing, we got the Crape Romanoff and the Potato Galette! The cinnamon crapes topped with strawberries were really good not too sweet and just right. The potato Galette was also delicious and just the right addition to the meal. While we love the food, service is almost always a disaster here. I think a lot of their staff struggle with basic time management, and some aren't able to successfully complete more than one task at a time. For example, some will allow a dawdling customer to hold up the line for five or ten minutes to decide what they want. In the meantime, it would make more sense to ask if anyone in line is here for order pickup. A trip to this La Madeleine is usually a half hour long endeavor for me, regardless if I order during off hours ahead of time. It's a bummer since I love the chicken salad here and would come through much more frequently if the service was more efficient. read more

Honestly couldn't figure out why it only has 3 stars!! To me that's crazy because my experience was great! The atmosphere is like a level up to Panera it's like walking into a cute "French" cottage bakery. Everything looked very clean and put together. The vibe... Simple... that's what it felt like relaxed and simple. We sat down looked at the menu and I was surprised by the variety of options it's like the level up to Panera below Olive Garden. Prices were around the same range if only slightly more but for a bigger portion. I ordered the lentil and kale soup it was delicious, tangy, and hot! Perfect for a day of rain. My sisters dish was a Cesar salad market fresh sandwich and tomato basil soup. All of which was just amazing. We also got our food within 10mins of ordering and our café mochas within minutes! This is a definitely three star restaurant. Let me explain more below. My friend and I met here for a late lunch. It was my first time here but I read online of how this place operated. As I walked in, a few people were working behind the counter. I wasn't greeted by anyone which I was not annoyed by it. I read from somewhere that I had to place my order at the counter. There was no sign in the restaurant indicating that which I think they should have. When my friend arrived, we proceeded to order our foods. I ordered my lunch and also a dessert, which came in a to-do box for no reason -- I didn't say that the dessert was for to-go. We then walked to get our silverware. I noticed a bread stand which I believed it's for patrons to help with bread which waiting for the food. The person who took my order didn't tell me that. The foods came pretty quickly -- I think I had waited less than 10 minutes. My crepe was rubbery - hmmm why was it rubbery? I wondered. The meat sauce was good! My friend's chicken was tasty but the broccoli florets was overcooked. They were soft and mushy. Our dessert, napoleon strawberry, was bland. The pastry was under baked. I am not sure whether they know that they are baking at a high altitude. The custard was bland as well. I actually put jam on my dessert and it helped! I am in no rush to visit this place. read more

I have now been here 4 times, and I must say, it really tickles my fancy for this "quick" type of cuisine. There's definitely a place for it in our market, and the location is prime to include a day of shopping. The bakery counter items are beautiful, I really love their fruit tart. The cappuccino is perfectly frothy, and it just makes me giggle every time the staff greets me with a "Bonjour!" or "Bon Apetit!" The tomato basil soup is creamy and delicious. I also favor their puff pastry stuffed with chicken and some sort of mushroom gravy, as well as the quiche & potato galettes. There are still many more menu items I'd like to try in the lunch department, but I will say that what I have had, I've enjoyed. read more

As I sit here passing time for The Container Store to open (lol), I stopped by to get some breakfast. What prompted me to come in was the app notification telling me that today is some kind of Croissant Day so I could get a free butter or chocolate croissant (yay free!). I stepped into the restaurant and luckily beat the morning rush. Even now though, at almost 9 AM, there isn't much of a line. Ordering my food was a simple process and the cashier was friendly. I took my wooden spoon order letter (forgot to take a pic of that), and found my own seat. You can help yourself to complimentary bread and jams (3 kinds of bread, 2 kinds of jam), grabbed some utensils, and waited for my food. My single caramel macchiato came out soon after, and my food got to me soon after that. Very fast service. My drink was nice and warm and my food was delicious. I enjoyed their custom crepe scramble w/ tomatoes, bacon, & mushrooms. The bakery here is also very tempting, as they offer things like creme brulee, tarts, cakes, and other baked goods. I've visited this location quite a few times last year, and I definitely see myself as a repeat customer this year. You won't be disappointed when you try this place. So, I continued to see amazing reviews and finally caved. It wasn't a hard push, honestly. I'm a fan of crème brulée and madeleines.. and anything potato. Let's face it: I'm half potato. Moving along.. So, here's what we got: Turkey & brie sandwich with a side of tomato basil pesto pasta salade French onion soup Pesto pasta with chicken and a side cranberry pecan wild field salade with house made balsamic vinaigrette Potato galettes Lemon madeleines Crème brulée Fresh fruit tarts Let's start with the sides. The tomato basil pesto pasta salade was deliciously balanced, well-seasoned and fresh. The French onion soup was perfect. We'd have liked a little extra cheese, but it turned out absolutely delicious and the onions were so fresh. The cranberry pecan wild field salade was good by itself, but with the vinaigrette, it was SO flavorful! It was simply delectable. Now, the main dishes.. holy blissful bites, Batman! The turkey & brie sandwich was amazing. For being so straightforward and simple in its ingredients, it was alarmingly flavorful and perfect. The bread was soft but crunchy. The turkey was warm and juicy. The brie was.. well, brie is velvety goodness, so.. yeah. It was perfect. The pesto pasta with chicken was surprising. This is one of my favorite pasta dishes on the planet and I'm extremely picky with it. If it isn't right, I don't eat at the place it's prepared again. La Madeleine.. prepared it absolutely stunningly well. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce was divine and beautifully creamy, the chicken was perfectly tender and flawlessly seasoned and the combination of every ingredient was so spot on that I didn't care that I burned my tongue. Yes, I'm serious. Now, to the desserts. You can't see it, but I'm wearing a face similar to the younger sister's excited face in 'Frozen'. The signature lemon madeleine cookies.. were flawless. They were cakey, spongey, flavorful and buttery goodness. I can't do them justice. The fresh fruit tarts were a dance. The crust was just so slightly sweet and buttery. The filling was creamy, not too sweet, citrus-tinted and carried the fruit beautifully. The fruit was perfectly fresh and well-placed. The crème brulée.. oh, the crème brulée. This is one of my favorite desserts and La Madeleine made it perfectly. They were positively scrumptious! The sugar was perfectly caramelized, the cream itself was chilled and velvety smooth. It felt like my tongue went for a swim in an ocean of sweet, soft, rich creamy delight. All in all, we're perfectly full, could continue to eat if it wouldn't threaten our ability to function and are marking this restaurant down as one of our top three favorite places to eat in town. If you haven't been, do yourself the favor of going or ordering in. Well done, La Madeleine. We'll be attempting to come in soon to try some of that caramel apple cider in person. read more

So excited to see La Madeleine come to town. I went to college (20 plus years ago) at SMU in Dallas, where La Madeleine started up. At the time, they had a small outpost just down the block from the college and I would go down to have a large Caesar salad and two slices of (free) bread and jam. Not enough $$$ to get the chicken on top back then, but it still got me through 4 years. So fast forward twenty years and they finally opened a location in NM. Glory be! We went to the soft open today and the Caesar salad, tomato basil soup, and strawberry Napoleons are all that I remember and more. Delicious and definitely one of a kind. The staff was definitely lacking in multiple areas, but that's to be expected when Albuquerque is severely understaffed and can't find people to work currently. The chocolate cake was a little bit of a surprise because it did have a cherry flavor. To me that was the best surprise ever because I really enjoy cherries! We got the triple salad sampler and that was very enjoyable as well along with the sandwich it seems like it had some fried sweet potato with something on it which was really exquisite, never had that before. I took him some eclairs and a creme brûlée. The eclairs were small and did not have enough custard to my liking. The creme brûlée was tasty, as we warmed it up, but really small in size.
