I love this La Madeline. My favorite dish is the croque monsieur sandwich. So good! It's like a grilled cheese on steroids (plus ham and garlic). Need I say more! I always pair it with the French onion soup and a side of fruit (so I can feel a little better about myself). The French onion soup isn't as good as my favorites (Panera Bread), but it's still tasty and includes real chunks of bread and cheese. Always a healthy crowd and never a long wait for food. I think this is such a cute date spot. I come here every few months and always get the same combo-- the Duet Magnifique! For around $10 you get a full or half sandwich and 2 sides! The last time I came I also ended up getting a mimosa which was only $5 and was enough for 2 drinks. And don't forget the bread bar! As much bread and jelly you can eat.. which for me is a lot! Food is great but the price, not so much. I've been to another La Madeleine before but for their breakfast menu. This time i tried their dinner menu. I got the Pesto Pasta and it was actually really delicious! It comes with your choice of protein and they use the bow-tie pasta! My friend that I went with got a Chicken Caesar Salad and both our dishes were actually about the same price. Their portions are pretty big but I still think the prices are a little too high. The employees were very kind and when we went, it was very slow. Their bread is amazing! Its free and complimentary. Tip: spread butter on the bread and jam on top. Taste so goooood! The restaurant is very clean and interior design is super cute! Its a french cafe and they really focus on the details! When you go to the bathroom, they have a French language tutorial playing for you. So you can learn french while you're taking a poop. ^^ I don't know if I would come back. Ok, this is the third screw-up they delivered to me via UberEats. First chicken quinoa salad barely had any chicken. Second one didn't have any dressing. Third, and final straw, was the same salad I ordered today. The quinoa salad came... without any quinoa. Completely left out. Also did not come with dressing. So I got a dry greens, walnut bits, and chicken salad. That's like ordering an old fashioned and forgetting the whiskey. I cannot deal with this continued incompetence and will be ordering and visiting other places instead. -- update. Terrible. Went in for lunch/brunch on Saturday. Ordered a scrambled egg, bacon, and avocado toast. Pretty hard to screw up, eh? Eggs looked like they'd been sitting in a warming bin for a couple hours. Cold. Bacon, dead cold. Avocado toast, toast not freshly toasted, cold, avocado look like it been applied by a stonemason. Coffee, not fresh, a 'French Roast', it tasted like weak instant coffee. I sort of ate what I could, my lunch partner's food was about the same. I've known about La Madeleine for 15 years and I just recently tried their food. I usually order the Chicken La Madeleine, but that's not the point of this review. Last time I went, I ordered a Crème brûlée and I swear when I took the first bite, I blacked out, then I came back to my senses, then I blacked out again, then I woke up, and I saw glitter all around me while classical music blasted in my ears. That Crème brûlée was the best thing that I have ever tasted. I want to go back and order five of them but I can't because that would be unhealthy and you have to eat things in moderation. read more

All I need to say is...BREAD BAR! Came here on a Tuesday night and there were a few others sitting down but for the most part it was nice and quiet. They have your typical Americanized French cafe menu but where they shine is the Sandwich and 2 side meal. For only $10ish, you get a full size sandwich and 2 sides. We had the chicken pesto sandwich with a bowl of tomatoes basil soup and Cesar salad. A ton of food that was easily split between two of us. The soup came out nice and hot and the salad filled the entire plate. The sandwich was served cold and had plenty of chicken with it. Last but not least, they have a walk up bread bar that you can choose from a variety of bread and jelly's. A nice easy restaurant with great food and extremely affordable. read more

Almost everything I have gotten here has been great. This is the first thing I have ordered that was disappointing, very disappointing. The small container had what was supposed to be their brandy sour cream. The cup was only half full of strawberries. The strawberries had multiple rotten parts. The atmosphere is really cozy and cute and my sandwich was delicious! I will definitely come here again.

It's a cute little place but to be honest portions are kind of small and not that flavorful. The highlight though is the pastries, they have a good variety and even crème brûlée which is not that easy to find, so while I can't really recommend the place for a lunch you should totally stop by for some dessert even if it's just to go. read more

Awful! Came in a couple hours before closing and while ordering computer system went down. Ok understandable, waited until they were back up. 10-15 min later instead, of taking my order first, they took everyone's order that was in line and came in after me. This place is a chain but, is still able to maintain the feel of a French Bistro and it smells amazing when you walk in. The line was a bit long but, that gave us time to familiarize ourselves with the menu. I chose to have the sandwich plate that comes with your choice of two sides and at a great price for the portion size and quality of food. I chose the chicken parisien sandwich with the cream of mushroom soup and a ceaser side salad. You have a choice of a half or full sandwich with the combo plate. You order at the counter and then they deliver the food to your table and it came out pretty quickly. I thought the sandwich was well put together with flavor and quality and that the bread had the perfect crunch on the outside and soft center on the inside. The toppings were all fresh and the chicken was not over done. The mushroom soup was amazing and I was so happy that I ordered it even though it was hot outside. The salad was pretty lack luster and hardly had any dressing on it. We had some great conversation with the gentleman that checked on us. He was well traveled and he gave us some tips for an upcoming overseas trip we were going on. I will definitely come here again for lunch to avoid the fast food options. read more

La Madeleine has come to Mueller! I remember when the former central Austin location shut down many years ago and we all cried. Now that it's here, I've noticed a significant change in this location's serving model that I'm not sure I love: They have gotten rid of the 'cafeteria style' line where their most popular dishes (salads, cold pastas, soups, etc.) are on display. That was my FAVORITE part about La Madeleine. Yes, yes, I can still order my Chicken Friand from the menu...but it's not the same as pointing at the pastry puff and then watching the cream of mushroom soup get ladled generously on top. It's still my favorite one-stop shop to eat a relaxed "French" brunch in the 'burbs and I'll be back to give this location another try. read more

Welcome to the neighborhood, La Madeleine! I don't always frequent big chain restaurants, but when I do, La Madeleine is definitely in the top tier. Great coffee, delicious breakfast, amazing soups and salads, and impeccable service. It's ever-so-slightly cheesy with the French theme, but guess what, it's fun. It's all just a part of the great customer service you'll get when you're there. Be prepared to be greeted with a smiling "Bonjour"! It's adorable. This location has all of the great things you would expect from La Mad. The building its in is very modern, and you are surrounded by big box stores. It's not my favorite location based only on those things, but that can't be helped. There just aren't cute little cottage-looking buildings at Mueller. That's Mueller's fault for completely ignoring the unique, vintage neighborhood next door to it! I'm probably being defensive because that's the side I happen to live on and love haha. Be aware that although La Mad looks a little swanky, it's actually not a full service restaurant. Make sure to pick up your own flatware and napkins before you take a seat. read more

La Madeleine used to be one of my favorite places to eat, and I was super excited to stop in for lunch (5/2/16). Not too long ago I stopped eating meat; however, I figured I could still grab a delicious lunch with some modifications. My order used to be the chicken caesar salad or sandwich, so today I ordered the caesar sandwich with no chicken. I know it's a weird order, but since I'm the one changing it up I never ask any place to discount me for not getting meat. So, I ended up paying $9.30 (fine with me if the food is good!) Most places are also smart/accommodating enough to make the sandwich the same quantity. I got two slices of bread with two pieces of lettuce and a slice of cheese. Not to mention, the place is impossible to contact by email online. I doubt I'll encourage anyone to go here. read more

I have not been to a La Madeleine since the early 90s. Now one is located near where I live! Whoo hoo! I loved it! Yes! The tomato basil soup is so rich and cremy. Oh la la! And the croque monsiuer, first I have had in years anywhere was prepared perfectly. Not dripping or soggy. Just absolulely perfect! The bread and jam was fresh. The place was clean. Can't wait to go for something even more sinfully delicious! And what was cool as we got pages when placing our orders. Been looking for a good go-to breakfast spot when we spend the night in Austin. We usually go to the Counter Cafe, but it can get a line out the door pretty quick if you sleep a little late. Other places have problematical parking, so when this place opened, we gave it a try, as other La Madeleine locations we've tried have worked out well for us. Big coffee cups, French Roast with endless refills - and they have the free bread/jelly station on the other side of the wall where the coffee carafes are - good spot to get ready for the rest of the day. Tasty cooked breakfasts and big selection of pastries. New location, with some very new employees learning the ropes. That said, all were friendly and attentive, and really working hard for the customers. read more

This is the WORST and actually only bad La Madeleine I have ever been to. They do not serve La Madeleine food. The quiche is wide and flat and barely edible. The potato soup is full of onion powder and garlic powder and is watered down. The butter is a big 3 lb block you take from *shudder* COLLECTIVELY. IN MY QUICHE was a piece of WOOD. I showed the manager, who said, "Oh, we'll make you a fresh one, give us 10 minutes." I said no, how about a gift card and I'll come back another day. Gave me a card after 15 minutes of repeated reminders. No amount shown on card. Called in on the card right away and told it was not activated. Husband went back in and ripped the guy a new one. Got a $10 bill and we left. I called corporate and told them they should strip these bozos of their franchise. They were very nice and the woman I spoke to insisted on sending me a gift card for my trouble. Guess what? Right. Been a month and it never came. read more
