I think we're all kind of used to Austin over-priced food... despite the food being average... so, Cheesecake Factory fits the bill. I would say overall an average experience! A disappointing change, maybe along with "shrinkflation," seems to be to increase the price while decreasing the amount they provide. I have not come in quite awhile, the salads used to come in a large bowl (like what you toss the salad in, literally) and was actually quite a large salad. It looks like they have now reduced (changed) the bowl size and added a flat/hard tortilla under the salad to further reduce the amount you get . Can they try to say this is in theme with a "Mexican" salad? Sure. Can we see through the ploy? Obviously. They were very good and presented beautifully, standing up with lettuce garnishes flowing out of the top and on the sides. They were crunchy with a soft chicken filling. Delicious! It had been almost 10 years since I last visited. After shopping, I decided to stop by around 2 PM and it wasn't very crowded. I wasn't very hungry, so I wanted something light. We've been to Cheesecake Factory more times than we can count, and we're finally leaving a review! 95% of the time, we're here for one thing: cheesecake. Either to go, or shared with a diet soda. And honestly? They never miss! The second time was this past weekend and we decided to checkout the French Dip Cheeseburger. Flavor-wise, it was great, but the cooking was a bit uneven--some pink parts, but mostly well-done. Have not been in a hot minute but still huge menu with so many items to choose from. The fresh bread, both the sourdough and brown are so delightful and the butter is perfect! We started out with the calamari which was fried in a tempura manner. Very light and airy. The cocktail sauce could use a tad more horseradish. We enjoyed 2 Cajun based meals. I did the shrimp and chicken pasta. Spicy. I was delighted to see different colored noodles, that was something new. They did not cut back on portion sizes nor the amount of chicken or shrimp. Ahhhhh....Cheesecake Factory is definitely one of those places that you don't want to rush spending time at. When my family and I went after a day of shopping and exploring at a new mall experience for us, we were seated in a reasonable amount of time after asking for a table, and the experience began. Our server, Mike, came and introduced himself, and started offering us time to explore the menu and decide on drinks and apps to get the party started, if we wanted them. I wanted to try something different, as I tend to lean on certain things as go-to items, so I tried the meatloaf; a decision that I will never regret and may easily become another "go-to item" again when we come back, and we will come back. Mike was extremely attentive and friendly. He checked on us frequently and made friends with our grandson, who typically doesn't take to people at first-glance. There was a small problem with one meal, and once resolved, everything was fine. I tend to be a decent tipper, especially if you seemingly go above and beyond without trying to. Every Sunday I would go to Cheesecake Factory and try a different slice of cheesecake a week! After checking out the current selections, I think there are only 4 cheesecakes that I have not tried. Sadly, the food has declined and although it was not terrible, it just lacked seasoning. However, the cheesecake NEVER lets me down.
