If I could review zero stars I would. This place is the worst. The food is only ok and the service is TERRIBLE. I have ordered food to go from their app twice now and both times they've botched the order. I reached out for help and the first time they told me it's "not their problem" (like who else's problem would it be??) and the second time I got no response from them. In total I've lost $10 dollars in items I never received and they never refund or even offer store credit (or even respond about!). I refuse to waste any more time or money on this place. Beautiful French Cafe atmosphere in chic Preston Hollow neighborhood. But La Madeleine is slipping from its previous French authentic glory. Late May 2025 visit- Very disorganized staff, confused cooks that are supposed to take your order in line. Nobody even said I'll be right with you as I stood there for several minutes. The Napoleon pastries used to be stellar in past decades, now they skimp on the sweet layers and it's a dry mess. The famous tomato-basil soup is still the best you'll ever have outside of Paris. We went here on a Saturday afternoon around lunch time. Upon entering, no one greeted us. We were unsure where to order and asked several employees who straight up ignored us. Finally, one responded that you order at the register which was at the opposite side of the room. We then waited at the register for 3-4 minutes without any acknowledgement from a handful of their staff. Eventually, the manager who was a man appeared and said he'd be right with us. We waited another 5 minutes at the register while he had his back turned to us doing other things. It was clear he didn't care about taking our order. The line started building up behind us so we decided to leave. This La Madeline clearly doesn't want or need our business and should treat their customers better. This location has steadily improved over the last few years after taking a steep drop. One thing that saves it is the location. Nestled in NorthPark Mall its always a nice spot. Doesn't matter whether you are here shopping or just taking a break, the atmosphere is pleasant. This trip I sampled 1/2 Croque Monsieur sandwich, baked potato soup and a chocolate eclair! Perfect lunch. The fruit salad was what you would expect out of a continental breakfast, and the bread on the chicken pesto was super dry and bland. The filling on the sandwich was not bad, but that could have been because of how bad everything else seemed to be. The water tasted really weird and kind of metallic, so I had to suck it up with my dry mouth until I got home. The chips were the one good thing, because how do you mess up chips? Service: 3.5/5 Service was good, but there also weren't many people, so it's hard to tell how service will be at a busier time. The employees seemed to be on the quicker side on getting food out to our table as well as bussing the tables of previous patrons. Environment: 4/5 It's in a fairly accessible location, and easily seen from the street, as it's on a street corner. There's a lot of outdoor and indoor seating for whatever suits your fancy. The only thing was that it was pretty empty for a Saturday at noon. I would have expected it to be a little busier. They serve fresh salad, French onion soup, all French food and Pasta. They also serve wine. They have tasty desserts that will blow your mind. It's a self service style restaurant. You place your order in the counter, pay and they will deliver your order in your table. Service staff are courteous and helpful. Nice French style restaurant with full French decor. I wanted to take my mom to brunch where we had options for breakfast and lunch. We chose la Madeleine because I know I can always get a good bite to eat here. Instead of getting my usual, my mom and I stepped out of our comfort zone and ordered some of their seasonal dishes. I got the festive sampler with turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. It tastes like a thanksgiving meal! However, I do feel like my meal was a little luke warm. My mom got salmon on a bed of kale, quinoa, and butternut squash. In past years we were huge fans of their chicken Caesar's. The chicken was slow roasted and served warm in foil when taking the orders to-go. Their bread was delicious and outstanding toasted. The dressing was creamy and house made. Being excited to dig in again we had two chicken Caesar's delivered last night....Maybe 2-3 ounces of wilted romaine came in an expensive looking to-go container with cold chicken, a lousy Caesar dressing, burnt croutons, and no fresh bread for toasting. Although this is not my usual location, I was craving mushroom soup and the chain has some of the best in the area. I ordered a bowl of mushroom soup and a drink. The service was quick on filling my order as the soup was ready and all they had to do was ladle it into the bowl. I requested some cheddar cheese as well. The tea was freshly made and the lemon slices were fresh and large. The free bread slices was running low so they brought more out. Alright, I know it's a classic chain restaurant and no French person would be caught dead in this place, but La Madeleine has consistently good soup and salad and baked goods. It can get very backed up at lunch and sometimes the line employees can get overwhelmed, but they are apologetic and will work to make amends quickly if it's brought to their attention. The restaurant is nice to dine in and the fireplace is warm in the winter. The quiche can be hit or miss, but definitely underseasoned. I went in to order and everything seemed ok. I ordered a French dip sandwich. I had ordered it many many times from here before. It came out with horseradish and no cheese. I questioned it and was told by the cashier it has always come out that way. I asked for it to be remade. The cashier did not immediately go to the kitchen to place it. I then asked for the manager and asked him for a remake it with out horseradish. I had told him the cashier disappeared without placing my remake. He said he could remake it without horseradish and he told me that a French dip has horseradish on it. I informed him I had never had it with horseradish before. When the remake it came out this time it came out with one small piece of roast beef that didn't even cover the bread. I did not say anything because my friend had already ate and I was hungry. Recently, I think the food has gone downhill, and your experience is hit or miss. We tried this location for lunch on a Saturday, not many people there. The quality of the lettuce was ok, just a few spoiled pieces, but the dressing had no flavor. I think someone forgot the anchovies or garlic. I also got a cup of mushroom soup, now $4.29, and it was ok but not much mushroom flavor, too much cream. The wife tried the cranberry pecan salad and it has too much dressing and her tomato basil soup was really sour, as is now the norm these days at La Madeleine. Now, my family owned restaurants so I knew that they perhaps did not anticipate a busy night....yes I waited but it was absolutely fine. The food was delicious I had the Turk Bistro and Tomato soup....delicious. it was worth the wait. Now, the skeleton staff worked very hard. I watched the entire dynamics...taking care of the in-house patrons and the drive thru...with a smile. Good service is a rare commodity and in this case I was definitely proven wrong.
