Came here this morning for small breakfast and coffee. Wasn't too hungry so I just ordered a cup of coffee, a potato galette and ONE egg scrambled. I was with my daughter so we were talking as we sat down. When my food arrived I realized they had brought and charged me for an egg breakfast. It wasn't what I ordered so I brought it to the manager to be fixed. Simple right? The male manager began to interrogate me saying "So let me get this correct: you only wanted ONE egg?? So you came here for ONE egg? Wait you only wanted to order ONE egg?" And so on. Obviously, you can't just order ONE egg even though it's on the menu or else you get ridiculed. Plus I'd also ordered coffee and a potato galette. This is not the first time I've had an issue with service here but this time it was from the General Manager. This restaurant has the kindest, most helpful staff I have ever encountered! I came in because by teething infant would not stop screaming in the car and I pulled off the freeway and pulled in here to hold him. They went above and beyond to help me so I could sit and calm my baby and not carry anything. They even offered to hold my baby. I love this place and I always eat the Ckn Parisian and it's A M A Z I N G. They have sometimes customer service , meaning it's not a smile when I walk in it's sort of a dry face and it looks like they don't want to be there. But I do appreciate that the food is made when I order is and it's sooooo good. I would recommend that you eat here. read more

La Madeleine at 290 is great! I usually stop in to pick up a dessert, the Satcher torte, chocolate croissants,Lemon Madeleine, and anything with chocolate mousse is great! When I stop in to pick up I usually get the Chicken Salade Croissant with their pesto pasta salad...wish I had one now...YUM! Really REALLY disappointed in this location. They are supposed to be open till 10pm, yet, at 9:39pm when i got here, the door was already locked. I called, hit one to place a to go order, got a person right away, and guess what? That person is in a call center, and he didn't understand why this location closed earlier either. They really need to think about their customers. I'm a recovering cancer patient who just worked a 13 hour day, and now have no dinner options because i wasted my time going out of my way to come here. Ordered to go. Among other things, I ordered two cups of potato soup, and a Caesar salad. The soups came with only one serving of cheese and no bacon for either. I got a box of lettuce with no dressing on the side. I really missed the soup and salad I was supposed to get. I also got the strawberries Romanoff, and the strawberries were soggy like they've been sitting cut all day. I don't recommend that to go either. read more

Bonjour! Today, I had a late lunch at La Madeleine. Since this is my first time there, I decided to play it safe and order the Duet Magnifique. This is their half-sandwich with cup of soup. I chose the wonderfully delicious tomato basil pesto pasta salad, chicken salad on croissant, and the french onion soup. I liked the way the flavors of the tomato basil and pesto married up -- very nice pasta salad. The croissant was nice and flaky and the chicken salad was nice and firm -- not too much mayo and it held up nicely on the croissant. The biggest disappoint was the soup -- way too salty for me, and I crave salty things. Other than that, this place is nicely decorated, has an indoor fireplace, with nice wooden tables, real plates, real glasses and real flatware. Its a sit yourself place and the decor is very nice. The only thing that felt out of place was the cafeteria style trays -- just didn't fit in. So, if you're looking for some lighter French dishes and maybe a nice relaxing place to sit for lunch or dinner, this is the place. C'est Magnifigue! read more

Last night was the second time I have visited this place. I can say I enjoy myself. The place have a lovely atmosphere. I ate the cordon bleu sandwich, which was really good. But, I hate the fact that I forgot that I was not a fan of the chips. I should have substituted with something else. This is a great place to go as a group cause the have a lot of seating. read more

Let me start by saying that I've been eating at La Madeleine for over 20 years. This location is closest to home, otherwise I doubt I'd ever step foot in here again. They are consistently inconsistent. Tonight I ordered via the app for the 1st time. My order was supposed to be ready for pick up at 6:20. I arrived at 6:20 & had to wait 15 mins. I had ordered extra chicken on the side, but they had mixed that chicken with the other chicken from my salad, so then I had to wait for them to remake it. The girl at the to-go counter moves at a snail's pace. As I stood there waiting I noticed that the floor was filthy. After finally getting my food, I went to get sourdough bread. There was none out, so I asked the guy behind the counter for some. He filled my container with bread, but I picked up the top pieces & saw that there were several pieces of wheat bread mixed in. I told him that I only wanted sourdough, so he took the container back, PICKED OUT THE WHEAT BREAD THAT I HAD TOUCHED & PUT THEM BACK ON THE TRAY WITH THE FRESH BREAD! There was a manager standing behind the line doing absolutely nothing the entire 20 mins I was there, as is usually the case. I've been here many times over the years and love the food here and have always gotten good service but when i went yesterday i had to wait 50 minutes to get my order. I ordered the chicken friand and was told it would take a while (10 minutes) and i said that was ok. Well, 30 minutes later my food and the sandwich my bf ordered still wasnt out so i went to ask about it. The guy told me he would get it together right now. Came here for brunch after yoga. Got the chicken salad croissant which was good. Chips were good but could use a bit of crunch. Shrimp crepe was very tasty and the sauce was very good. Also shared the spinach quiche - the egg was light and fluffy, the crust was nice with a crunch. read more

We go this restaurant almost every Saturday. But I always have cleanliness issues with their utensils. EVERY TIME I can see cup, forks, knives or spoons are not clean. First visit here. Was not sure how to order. There was a young lady very informative BUT I did not get her. I was stuck with some guy who rushed me thru the line and when I asked about their rewards program he pointed to something in front of me. There was a little scan machine sitting there. Great food. Easy environment. I like to come here to eat by myself. Parisian eggs Benedict is my favorite, I always order it. I've never had a complaint about the food before and I don't have one at all. However, sometimes the staff makes me feel uncomfortable when I get some looks from them. We called in an order. They did not get the order we called in. We asked for some dressing on the salad. I was told that's why she gave me dressing on the side. We asked for a chocolate and vanilla parfait, we got a chocolate torte (sp?) instead. Then, we said we didn't want the cake but the chocolate parfait and they wanted to charge for the parfait and cake. Went to La Madeleine for lunch today. Had the worst experience with every person "working" there. Not a crack of a smile on anyone's faces and the place was practically empty. So it's not like they were busy. The guy who took our order could not comprehend anything and when we got to the end to pay, he forgot to put in 2 orders which I then added. When the food came out one by one with 5 minutes interval in between, they forgot 2 orders again. After I told them, they brought the wrong soup and could not understand why it was wrong. The receipt said tomato basil and they brought potato. When I went to order at the bakery section, the person could not understand what I wanted and I had to ask for the coffee 2X bc the amount seemed less than it should. Rude and untrained... Wow. A lot of eye rolling, sighing, and confusion from everyone. This was kind of a special lunch for a day off with my 3 well behaved kiddos. It was one of those occasions where our manager graciously granted the staff an extended lunch for meeting our office goal. So, a coworker and I decided to take advantage of the extra time by going to La Madeleine. I've never been to this particular location though I have passed by there many times. Upon arrival I thought that the extended lunch may not be enough time to eat and make it back to the office because this place was BUSY! I soon realized that all my worries were unfounded. The line moved rather fast, there were plenty of tables available so that my coworker and I were seating enjoying our meals within no more than ten minutes after arrival. My coworker suggested I try the Duet Magnifique; Half sandwich and your choice of chips or Tomato Basil Pesto Pasta Salad and a cup of soup or petite Caesar Salad. I had the pasta Salad and the vegetable soup. I must say the pasta salad was one of the best I've had in a long time. I didn't like the vegetable soup too much, it didn't taste fresh. Every time i go here during my lunch break, the staff is so rude and seems so annoyed. Today, we were waiting in line and instead of asking us what we wanted, this lady (who appeared to be the manager) just stood there and stared at us expecting us to say something. I had said I wanted the pesto pasta and the soup. She looked at the cold pasta salad that they have for sides and said, 'cold right?'. When i told her i wanted the hot pasta she wiped her dirty hands all over her clothes (not even wearing an apron) sighed heavily and annoyingly went to grab the little register that rings up peoples kitchen made orders. My friend and I looked at each other shocked at how cold she was. We paid, we ate, we wanted dessert. We stood in the bakery line for about 20 minutes while only ONE worker was doing to go orders. The manager lady appeared again, looked at the long line of to-go customers and told her employee, "girl, im goin for a smoke break. ill be back later." We ended up waiting almost 30 minutes before we left without buying anything. When we walked out the manager was smoking a cigarette right in front of the restaurant on her phone. It's just weird for me to see this kind of customer service, especially at a restaurant and especially from a manager. This place is too expensive to not be treated with respect. read more
