I ordered the Oh My Grits bowl, and it was sooo delicious. I added chicken sausage, cheddar cheese, onions and potatoes. My daughter had the Wake up Burger with a sunny side up egg. She devoured it. I also ordered a Tequila Sunrise, It was a good price. Our waiter was Jaz. She's really sweet, attentive and friendly. I'm honestly a bit surprised by how highly rated this place is, because our experience didn't quite live up to the hype. We visited on Father's Day, so I completely understand if it was busy but it was not and that's always a good sign. However, despite having reservations, we watched two parties who arrived after us get seated first. It wasn't until we spoke up that we were finally accommodated. I also felt terrible for a group of nine ahead of us whose table was apparently given away, forcing them to leave altogether. Once seated, service continued to disappoint. Our server never introduced himself, and although several tables seated after us were promptly served drinks and even meals, we were still waiting just for beverages. When our drinks did arrive, they came out one at a time. The Bloody Mary was meant to come with shrimp, but that didn't appear until halfway through the meal. My coffee tasted burnt and looked more like dark water than coffee. To make matters worse, I had to get up myself to grab napkins for our table and a spoon to stir my coffee which I ultimately sent back because it was simply undrinkable. As for the food, it was underwhelming at best. The eggs were very basic, the chicken sausage lacked flavor, and my son's meal looked overcooked. tried Flying Biscuit Cafe and I'd say it's a solid 7.5/10 for me. I ordered the fried chicken Benedict. I wasn't disappointed, but I definitely wasn't blown away either. The biscuit was very lukewarm when it arrived, and the egg was already broken, which took away from the presentation a bit. I went on a Sunday morning and had about a 20-minute wait, which wasn't bad considering the time. I would definitely be open to trying them again, but I was expecting more from the biscuit itself. First time here and it was amazing! The food came out super quick. My friend and I got the Parmesan truffle fries and avocado boat for appetizers, as well as a bottle of champagne, OJ and mango juice, which were all phenomenal. Second visit in the last 5 months. I need to express my concerns about the staff. There were many staffers seemed to be walking around but no one was completely doing their job! There were several people waiting to be seated and no one was busing the tables. The hostess was actually busing tables that shouldn't be her job. - Staffer's responsibilities should be more concrete to the person who is assigned the job & needs to be done in a manner pleasing to the patrons waiting to be seated. I have to say I love the sunflowers! The place is cute & inviting. Your food is great. But you would have more people eating at your establishment if you bused the tables more efficiently. We watch several parties leave after being told they have a 30 minute wait - when you can see four or five tables that simply needed to be bused. If this was a local establishment that's been open for years the quirky paintings on the walls and the lackadaisical service would be endearing, as in I could tolerate it because it's culture. But this "The Flying Biscuit" is part of a mini chain copied from an original and I expect procedure and routines from my chain restaurants. I know what to expect at an IHOP, Denny's and even Waffle House, they have a routine, one person comes and seats you in a rotating section or in their section if they're not busy. Maybe Flying Biscuit has this routine but the procedure wasn't followed and that's why I had to wait 10 minutes to be seated without a cent being acknowledged. Maybe that's why I had to wait another 5 minutes before a server announced themselves or even said anything, maybe that's why "who I guess is" the manager was just walking back and forth and not actually helping his servers. The point is maybe something fell through and I went on a bad day, the other thing is the food and the fake quirky murals weren't good enough to make me recommend "The Flying Biscuit Cafe" in Cypress over say an IHOP. My wife had the Eggstravaganza with French toast and I had the Steak and Eggs. It was fine but not great, just meh. The "famous" biscuits were really good but the "famous" grits were just okay. OK, so this was a great breakfast experience. Our waitress Trinity was super nice and helpful, a good introduction to the place as she made menu recommendations. Adam brought our plates out from the kitchen and was happy to answer the questions I had and, yes, it's butter (thankfully NOT margarine) that they serve with the biscuits. Not a fancy place, but somebody was not afraid to put a bunch of sunflowers and other colored drawings on the walls, so it's bright and cheerful and sometimes you just need that in the morning. I didn't want any of that prepackaged stuff to put in my coffee and, after making some inquiries, they accommodated my special request and the kitchen kindly sacrificed some of their manufacturing cream and sent it out to the table for my coffee. They get HUGE points for that. Mr. Picky has a sweet tooth and so he was very happy with his French toast stuffed with sweet cream cheese and raspberry sauce with crème anglaise. All he wanted was the sweet stuff and so I ate his chicken patties and his cheese and onion scrambled eggs. I ordered the savory hangover hash and thought it had a lot of flavor. I particularly appreciated the fact that it was a chicken chorizo they were serving on it because I get tired of not having options and restaurants always serving pork chorizo. We've been to another location that felt much better overall, so this one fell a little flat in comparison. The food itself was mid. We had the regular eggs, toast (which they forgot at first), grits, and pancakes but the pancakes weren't quite cooked the way we like them. The chicken sausage was a miss for us altogether. Service-wise, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't engaging. No one really checked in on us much, and the energy just felt kind of... off. It didn't give that "oh yeah, we're coming back" vibe. My second visit, things were a lot slower even though there weren't many people there. We ordered: - Mr. Big (part of the $1 deal for their grand opening) - Stuffed french toast breakfast - Hot dirty bird - Bacon wrapped shrimp tacos Both times I was very underwhelmed by the food. The Mr. Big burger was meh, nothing special. The stuffed french toast was also just ok. It didn't really have that "french toast taste" to it. I did not like the hot dirty bird at all. Waffle was flavorless. The chicken was so thin, and the batter and seasoning did not taste like Nashville hot chicken at all. The only flavor I tasted from the chicken was some pepper.
