I have visited this restaurant many times. I always get my Purple Haze and Morning Meditation juice WITHOUT ice. I decided to order a pickup. I asked for NO ICE and was told that there's only a ONE SIZE cup. I was brought a small (coffee cup size) drink to go. When asked why I did not receive the regular drink size that I paid for ($5.79/each), I was told it's because I did not get any ice. Are you kidding me? So, I had to pay the regular price for the smaller amount because I didn't get any ice. First Watch is a great Mexican/American breakfast hybrid restaurant that I'll recommend to anyone on their way to work (or just looking for something on the weekend). I had the Tacos al Pastor and the Avocado Toast, and I'll routinely come back for the Tacos al Pastor. I love the homemade masa tortillas and potato hash topped with sliced avocados, shredded Cotija cheese, and pickled onions. They also have a juice bar, and while the Morning Meditation left me disappointed (all I tasted was orange juice, nothing else), the mix of lemon and lavender in their Purple Haze is enough for me to keep ordering more. I'm only keeping this review a 4/5, because upon my first visit, it was really cold inside the restaurant. I wanted to warm up with some hot coffee, but the coffee was served after I received my meal (in hindsight, I probably could ask for it to be served first). So I had to endure a while before I could warm up. In future visits, I'd rather just use the outdoor seating they have or just order takeout. Speaking of takeout, I'd prefer if I had the option to place my order over the phone instead of just using the website every time. It takes less time to order over the phone since it takes a while for me to enter in my credit card information at that time. But when I called their number on Yelp, the automated message system just told me to use their website. Favorite Breakfast Spot in Cypress! First Watch is my absolute favorite breakfast spot in Cypress! I've been here many times, and I keep coming back because the food is fantastic. I almost always get the Farmhouse Skillet--it's just that good--but we haven't had anything we didn't love. The staff is always wonderful, especially Trinady. She's amazing--always going out of her way to make spot-on recommendations for the whole table. Her kindness and thoughtfulness really stand out, making the whole experience even better. It wasn't really loud and there were a lot of families that were eating here which, to me is great. While I looked around I realized that a ton of people were eating waffles and did not order a waffle. Darn.... I ordered the chickichanga. While the meat had great flavor, it was a chicken/chorizo blend, it was lukewarm at best. The potatoes were very very good. Started coming here when it was The Egg and I. I'm not sure if ownership is different- there's a lot of similarities so maybe just a new name? I thought the food overall improved though! My options were limited as I can't eat red meat, so I went with the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. It was sooo good! The egg was perfectly poached, and the salmon wasn't too fishy. The salad that it comes with is light and lemony. I loved that I was full but not heavy afterwards. My husband got the Trifecta, also a great choice. He said the bacon was cooked perfectly and the Belgian waffle we shared was both soft and crunchy- just perfect! My only complaint were the potatoes. They were definitely undercooked to the point they were raw, but I didn't deduct as we didn't say anything to the staff, who were pleasant and helpful. Million dollar bacon was not at all crispy-it tasted like it could have been undercooked actually, but it may been because there was too much fat. Million dollar potatoes tasted bland. Food and waiter were great. The problem is that when paying w 2 credit cards (even split), the suggested tip, 20% in our case was 20% of the entire bill rather than half. Essentially our waiter got a 40% tip! This same thing happened a couple of months ago at the restaurant in the heights and the manager acted dumbfounded and "never experienced" this bug in the system. I had breakfast this morning. I walked in the restaurant at about 8 am. The hostess station was empty. It took about 5 minutes for someone to seat me. After another 5 or so minutes, I had to ask for coffee since I hadn't seen a server. After my food was delivered, I didn't see a server again until I got my check. This isn't my first experience in this location. I quit going because the service was so bad. Stayed away for a year but decided to try again.
