    Homemade Bread Pudding French Toast
    Cynthia E.

Loved my experience at black bear diner! Ended up getting eggs Benedict as well as the bread pudding French toast with bananas. Overall everything was delicious! The only thing I would say is that the food came out on the lukewarm side. Also, would have liked Canadian bacon for the eggs Benedict but the ham was good too. Server was nice and very friendly, family atmosphere. Will most likely be back to try the chocolate chip pancakes!!

Stopped in for a quick sweet tooth fix and we were not disappointed. The counter display has excellent pies ready for purchase. We settled on a mini apple pie and a mini chocolate crème pie. These pies are perfect for an afternoon treat or even after dinner dessert and they are priced right.

Many choices of breakfast combinations. Ok service but unfortunately my medium rare steak was well done.

Two eggs, bacon, and I had two pancakes, but I gave my friend a pancake, and I got one of her biscuits. It was delicious.

I went here for my free birthday breakfast meal. It was excellent as always. My friend came with me and she got the two biscuits with gravy and bacon, and I had two pancakes with eggs and bacon, so I gave her one of my pancakes, and I got one of her biscuits. It's so much food you can barely eat it, and we ended up taking some home. I absolutely love their pancakes, and I'm not a breakfast person. The service was pretty good. I will definitely return, and I do recommend it. I have never had a bad meal here.

The banana pudding French toast was delicious and my mini volcano was gigantic lol I only ate one pancake so I have to remember their pancakes are huge lol The staff is amazing and always made sure my coffee cup was filled and provided me hazelnut creamer. I love those details where they make sure you're happy. I will say be prepared to wait for a table if you go right at lunchtime. It's worth it.

Not going to lie, breakfast is not my favorite meal, but this place is always a great option, today was veggie scramble with fruit. We always have great service and the fresh oj is stellar

We normally eat breakfast here but mom wanted the all you can eat fish. They advertised it on their menu. We got there and the place was crowded with a bus full of kids in front of us. We were seated and immediately placed our order for 3 AYCE fish plates and one breakfast plate. The waitress was new but she said you get two sides. I ordered Mac and cheese with my fish diner and it was more expensive. We waited for our food and she came and said they were out of fish. Offered something else like the fish and chips. We also ordered onion rings, which were extra. We got ready to order a different dish and she said oh we do have fish. She only brought two plates along with the breakfast plate. My husband had to wait ok his fish and chips. We eventually cancelled his order because we were done eating. The fish was good and crispy. Not really seasoned but the texture was good and so were the sides. We were ready to go so didn't even order any more fish. Since this item is on the menu, they should ensure they have the volume.

Great morning visit I must say. The place is located on corner of 290 and 1960. Upon entrance the staff was very welcoming and helpful. It feels a lot like a roadtrip spot from a 90s roadtrip movie and I enjoyed the ambiance. I ordered an omelet and big ass biscuit. The food was quick and tasty. This is a must return.

If you want to hear people arguing and leaving you to deal with your hunger and thirst, then you'll be in good company here. I've usually frequented the Sugar Land BBD. I didnt think there would be a big difference in experience. FAFO-I was wrong! First off, it was not very busy, but the waitress we had was very slowful in returning back to the table. She was having a whole conversation with another table. I finally flagged her down to order but when the order came out, it was incorrect. They gave my Mom the regular size entree she ordered versus the smaller version. We brought it to another crew member's attention because our waitress was no where to be found. In fact the other crew member provided us refills on drinks as well. Still the restaurant was not packed at all, so where was the waistress? Refereeing two other employees that had gotten into it. I mean it was LOUD. Just really unpleasant. When we were pretty much finishes eating, the waitstress did come by to offer to go trays but the real waitress was cleaning tables. I did tip my original waitress, but I gave a much larger one to the person who checked on us and made sure we lacked nothing like refills and utensils. She also made sure I wasn't charged for the mistake on the order. If it wasn't for that crew member, I probably would have asked for my money back and left due to the ruckess and noise from the arguing. I will say this: Food was spectacular, especially the cinnamon roll french toast!!! You have to try the next time you to BBD, but maybe a different one.

I went on a Sunday Morning with my family. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. Waiter was cool and food was good with large portions. When it was time to pay the waiter stated the total of the bill but never brought out the bill. She added the tip into the bill without giving me the opportunity to tip. I tipped her an additional 10% because I was in a good mood but I could be a customer who maybe didn't have what she thought I should tip. I didn't make a fuss about it. I just gave her an additional tip but waitresses should not do this to customers.

The case of what happened to my eggs, and oh there's my sausages.

I placed an order through Uber Eats which the courier did a great job communicating with me. The restaurant did not have any Blackberry Bear Claws, I assume because the driver sent me a message for substituting the item, their options was apple pie, which is not a substitute. So I declined that, and I was still billed for this item that I didn't receive. Next, the restaurant did not provide any syrup for the orders (3) besides the one order we never received. Finally, our food looked like it was fixed in a UFC match, one order of the pancakes jumped off the ropes and landed on top of the sausage and Sunnyside Eggs. The next order the eggs looked like they were placed in a choke hold and the sausage could only be found by using a treasure map which was not provided. Lastly, my youngest child said what happened toothed Eggs, they lost the match, and the sausage links were Mia until I had to remove the pancakes to retrieve them. This is not how anyone should receive a food order, of course only if you are a UFC Fighter or fan.

The one in California doesn't have the mascot walking around, but that's okay. It was nice to see, and the children just loved it. Well, I ordered the Grizz, which is about everything anyone would want for breakfast. It's the eggs, pancakes, bacon, ham, and sausage. Of course, I threw in a side of grits, adding jelly on top! It was really crowded this Sunday, but the service was quick. I sat at the counter since it was only me. Plus, the tables are better suited for larger groups. The breakfast, as always, is delicious here, which is why I keep coming back no matter what state I'm in. The grits are always buttery and not lumpy. The bacon the same is always cooked at the right temperature to have those crisp edges. If you are looking for a deep southern breakfast, great hospitality, and friendly customers, this is the place.

    This is what I got.

My personal go-to is the pandan matcha latte, which usually hits the spot every time. It was my first time back at Cuppo in a long time, and unfortunately, my pandan matcha latte just tasted like milk with a splash of pandan extract. For nostalgia's sake, I still downed the whole drink. Honorable mention: if you like a subtle ube flavor, I would highly recommend the ube latte. The coffee is a good amount of strong! I've yet to try the pastries and food they serve, but their selection always looks yummy. In my opinion, Cuppo is more of a nostalgic study spot with plenty of seating, outlets, and available parking rather than a go-to for coffee/matcha. Service is fast and nice, the bathroom is clean, and the atmosphere is perfect for studying and catching up.

It was my birthday but I had a funeral to attend that afternoon. On this particular day, it also was raining, HORRIBLY, so I was really doubting that I would get a chance to do something later, but I decided to see how far Quotes was from the service. Depending on what time we got out, if there wasn't a repase, AND the weather giving me some grace, I would stop by for an early birthday dinner. Thankfully, Mother Nature gave me a break and let me and my Mom enjoy a nice late lunch at Quotes, which not only had delicious food but exceptional customer service. Soon as we came to the front door, it was opened for us to step inside. We were greeted and shown where we could keep our umbrellas if we felt comfortable leaving at the front door. The hostess lead us to a table and asked if the location was okay. Once more, when our servers, Diamond and Ty, came to our table for our drink orders, I was asked if we were celebrating anything. I mentioned my birthday and was later on surprised by a slice of cheesecake. I didn't have the space to even eat it because I was fat full from the food and drinks I had before dessert arrived! First off, we came at a great time because we were able to try their entrees at a discounted price. Even the drinks are discounted during the lunch hour except their signature and customer fav, the lemon drop, with good reason! The flair that it is presented to you is phenomonal, but the taste is exquisite. It was so smooth I had to slow down from drinking it. I'm usually not too big into drinking more than one drink, but it was my birthday and the drink was GOOD, so another round had to be had! I even tasted my Mom's drink to see if there was something else I should try. I ended up sticking with my Lemon drop and the second one did not disappoint. As far as the food, I did ask for suggestions on a few entrees. I ended up getting the fried catfish and grits while Mom ordered the shrimp tacos with a side of asparagus. Although Mom raved about her tacos and even stated she wish she could make them at home, the asparagus was salty to us. We did send it back and in response, Chef Trini came out personally to ensure the second make was to our liking, indicating that the blackened seasoning would be available on the side. Please tell Chef Trini that this was the best asparagus I EVER tasted. It was cooked to perfection and no seasoning what so ever needs to camofluage the fineese that Chef cooked it with. My entree was also delectable and delicious with the marriage of fried catfish and grits smoothered with creole crawfish sauce (say that three times)! I love my catfish fried hard and not salted to death. Quotes presented both and it intermingled with the grits graciously. I couldn't eat the entire entree because 1. It was a big portion and 2. We had enjoyed an appetizer, the spinach dip and cauliflower garlic bread. It is a MUST to have! We are spinach dip fans and Quotes not only has one of the best Spinach Dips I tasted in a long time, but the creativity of making cauiflower garlic bread is chef's kiss. You would not even think you were eating cauliflower. It minds me more of pita bread versus tradional thick garlic bread but the flavor is there and compliments nicely with the spinach dip. Both the appetizer and my entree not only made great evening and next day breakfast meals but tasted even better later and the next day. That's when you KNOW you've eaten some good food- it taste even better later. Even the bday cheesecake was insanely epic the next day. I can't say enough about Quotes. Great service and food as well as beautifully decorated space that truly leaves you inspired. Thank you Quotes- I will be back!

Plus I don't know who on grist duty in the back, but they need to be replaced because you really can't mess up grist but they did. Cajun fish was alright, but the smother in crawfish saue was more like crawfish pasta. Last but not least Cajun doesn't mean to throw a lot of season all or kanye pepper on the dish, So Please Stop. We had tortilla chip with a crawlfish cheese dip. The chips has so much season all on it that it was ridiculous.

"Celebrating Mama Bear" 04-18-26…read more My family and I visited Cutten Kitchen together for the first time, and we absolutely loved it. My eldest sister was the one who searched for places to celebrate our mother's birthday, and she definitely picked a winner. She felt like this would have been a restaurant our mom would have truly enjoyed if she were still here on this earth, and she got it right. Let me count the reasons why Mama would have loved this restaurant: the aesthetics, the well-seasoned food, the lively vibe, the soulful energy of the atmosphere, and the wonderful customer service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess, Victoria, whose professionalism and mannerisms were spot on. She was so friendly and welcoming. She held the door open for us when we entered, and she even held it open again when we left. Our server, Daniella, matched that same level of professionalism. She was not intimidated or nervous by our group at all. She greeted us warmly, introduced herself, and took our drink and appetizer orders with ease and confidence, which let me know she knew exactly what she was doing. She also offered great drink suggestions that we really enjoyed. I do not want to bore you with a long, drawn-out review, so I'll keep this part simple. The atmosphere is welcoming, with music playing at a nice medium volume through the overhead speakers. The dining room is extremely spacious and clean. Food Ratings: Fried Catfish/Shrimp Platter - 4/5 Both were fried to perfection, with nice crunchy edges and a soft, succulent, meaty texture inside. However, it was a bit too salty for my health. Fried Fish and Grits Platter - 5/5 My younger sister said she could taste the authenticity of Black culture in the well-seasoned grits and she enjoyed them. The CK Burger - 5/5 My son said this burger was delicious, and he tore it up too! The CK Patty Melt - 5/5 My eldest sister said it was delicious and felt like it melted in her mouth with every bite. Salmon Bites Appetizer - 5/5 Fried to perfection and surprisingly not too salty. Fried Plain Wings/Lemon Pepper Wings/French Fries - 5/5 Everything was served piping hot and extra crispy. Deviled Eggs Appetizer - 5/5 Everyone around the table loved these babies. My eldest sister said she did not care too much for the fried chicken tender on top, but overall, they were still a hit. Dirty Rice - 1/5 Too salty and too greasy for my liking. It also lacked the authenticity I was hoping for. Mac and Cheese - 5/5 According to my daughter, the mac and cheese was a 5/5. However, it did have a spicy kick, so my son gave it a 4/5. If you like spicy mac and cheese, then you will probably love theirs. Collard Greens - 5/5 This item stole the show for me. The collard greens were delicious, not too salty, and seasoned just right. Here's the shocker: instead of using pork in their collards, they used turkey neck. I was genuinely impressed because a lot of people believe pork is the only way to get that deep, flavorful taste in greens, but Cutten Kitchen proved otherwise. Blueberry Lemon Drop - 5/5 This drink may seem girlie, but it hit like a man. Sitting Sideways Cocktail - 5/5 This one hits just right and gives you a nice little buzz. Pineapple Upside Down Crown - 4/5 It was a little too sweet and did not have enough liquor for me, but it was still delicious after I poured an extra shot of Crown in it. Overall, Cutten Kitchen is an upbeat, lively, and soulful establishment that offers some of the best Southern cuisine in the area. I highly recommend this place if you love authentic soul food, great customer service, and a vibrant atmosphere. FYI: Parking is plentiful, but it would probably be best to make a reservation beforehand. I have heard this place can get packed.

She was pleasant and did her best, but it took a very long time for her to take our order, and the food took an equally long time to arrive. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. The lamb chops were actually very good and were probably the highlight of the meal. However, everything else fell short. The salmon bites were disappointing, and overall the food seemed to be lacking seasoning and flavor. The cornbread was another letdown. The only sweetness came from the glaze on top--the actual cornbread itself tasted more like a plain muffin with no sweetness or flavor of its own. I ordered the breakfast sampler with grits and eggs, but the grits that were served were heavily seasoned, dark Cajun-style grits rather than the traditional white grits most people expect with a breakfast plate. When I asked about it, I was told that's the only type of grits they serve. If that's the case, there should be a disclaimer on the menu because "grits and eggs" typically implies traditional breakfast grits, not the style usually served alongside dishes like shrimp and grits or catfish and grits. My husband ordered the lamb chops and eggs, my son had the chicken and waffles, and we also shared the salmon bites and cornbread. Unfortunately, aside from the lamb chops, nothing really stood out in a positive way. Considering the amount we spent, I left disappointed. While the staff was friendly and doing their best under the circumstances, the long wait times and lack of flavor in most of the food made the experience underwhelming. I would not return.

They had live music on, and from the looks of it if you want to be a part of the show you can as they also have karaoke it looks like. The gentleman that greeted us was so nice and made us feel so welcomed! It wasn't one of those "oh I have to be nice to these guests because I'm getting paid" type people, you could really tell his niceness was genuine. I felt like I was at a fine dining restaurant. Our server was also very nice, and super helpful as I asked for a wine suggestion and she hit the nail with her suggestion. She brought a small sample for me to try before serving it. The food itself was delicious! We got the onion rings appetizer, and you could tell they were made to order. They were super fresh and also crispy. The chicken parmigiana was good, and they were not stingy with their portions at all. The picture I took doesn't do the dish justice. I will definitely go back to this place, as their food, service and overall experience is a great one when you dine in.

OK, so this turned out to be a surprisingly good meal and much better than we had expected. We shared a bowl of the potato soup where we had no expectations and I thought it tasted pretty decent. But the real test was the entrees. Mr. Picky ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp while I opted for Veal Parmigiana, and we each stole a bite from the other's plate. We reached consensus immediately that both dishes were well-seasoned and quite delicious, meaning we would return for more good food in the future. Seriously, we hadn't expected much when walking in and looking around, but were pleasantly surprised at the kitchen's efforts. We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. I wasn't there to judge that competition and have had better, but sincerely appreciated the moistness of the bread pudding. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.
