Recently, hubs and I have been splitting our time between the Catskills and now Westchester to enjoy better pastures. So when it was time to kick back, my friend figured coming here to La Maison in chic Bronxville, NY for the perfect meetup spot to crack jokes and spend another great day catching up. FYI- my friend told us La Maison and La Casa right next door are sister restaurants. The only connection I can make is their name- because I haven't visited La Casa yet. We were greeted right away and we kind of tossed between where to sit. La Maison has a cozy, dimly lit dining room tucked in the back and has a sizable bar with these cute green high chairs. But honestly, don't pass on grabbing a bite at the bar. With the weather being gorgeous, we couldn't pass up a window seat. We started things off with escargots and all I can say is- this is the truth. Rich, buttery and definitely worth ordering. My two friends each got the lentil soup but it wasn't what they expected. The bread basket had fresh, toasted and warm sourdough(?) with butter on the side. Between my friend's mussels & chorizo, my other friend's scallops on parsnip purée and my Niçoise salad, there was more than enough food to go around. The only letdown my friend had was the chorizo in the mussels which wasn't what he expected. Desserts totally made up for it though. The apple tarte tatin, petit vanilla sundae and my chocolate mousse slice were ALL banging. Let me not forgot about the cocktails because the bartender wasn't playing around. I'd be back in a heartbeat because everything was seriously tasty. read more

I didn't realize that I actually missed French cuisine. In the past, I've had the opportunity to dine at classic NYC restaurants that are sadly no longer there. Such as Lespinasse, Lutéce, and Aureole (French technique). Each brought that European feel while offering fine dining in the middle of New York. Now on to our present day French restaurant exploration, La Maison in Bronxville. Suggested by our friend Jason, this restaurant did their best to transport us to France. To aid in transporting us, there was a nice level of French music playing throughout the restaurant. In addition, the employees were conversing amongst themselves in French. And then we have Benoit, our attentive server with his thick French accent. The décor, the enveloping ambience, the food, and the timing of our service were perfect. All of this allowed us to enjoy our well portioned, flavorful meals, while dining, laughing and chatting at this charming restaurant. What more could we ask for? La Maison was a great choice, I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. read more

La Maison had been on my radar for a while. I periodically skim the LoHud food Instagram page and they highlighted this restaurant a while back. French restaurants are not too common in Westchester, so I made it my intention to check it out. That opportunity came the other day when some of my friends were looking to catch up - the vibes seemed on here, so we set a date to catch an early dinner. La Maison is located within the main commercial area of Bronxville, right next door to their sister restaurant La Casa. Both restaurants actually share a kitchen, but that's where the commonalities end. Besides the obvious difference in cuisines, La Maison is smaller and more intimate. The interior is separated into a main dining room which contains a bar, and a small side room with a few more tables. They are channeling Europe here with the bright colors, tile floors, and soft music playing. Some of the staff is also French which I did not expect - the overall aesthetic was great. The menu is a decent size and has a good selection of dishes. We decided to start with a few apps to share - the cheese plate, escargot, and I decided to get a lentil soup. But before that, drinks - the weather called for a Hugo Spritz which was delicious; sweet and a great start to the meal. The apps were fine; the cheese plate was a good shareable portion and contained four different types - plus some accents like fig jam, apples, and some crackers. The lentil soup had a very mild taste - not what I'm used to honestly; I usually like it with a little more flavor. The escargot was the strongest app - the snails were engulfed in butter and herbs and contained a good amount of bread for dipping; excellent flavor and preparation. For my main I had the moules frites; I had a choice of white wine sauce or saffron chorizo and I chose the latter. The mussels themselves were good, but the consistency of the chorizo was foreign to me; it actually didn't taste like chorizo, more a dried/cured meat. The meat was tasty, but I'm used to chorizo being more along the consistency of regular sausage. There was also a lot of tasty sauce in the bowl, and I would like to have had more crostini to sop it all up mmm. The frites were frites - pretty standard. We opted for dessert - I had the petite sundae which was a great finisher - the portion was perfect for one, and the ice cream was soft and creamy. Service was awesome - everyone was super friendly, and our waiter Benoit took excellent care of us. Overall, I had a good experience at La Maison. While I do not think this is the best French restaurant in the county, they fill a void in the lower Westchester dining scene. I wouldn't hesitate to return, and look forward to seeing how they evolve over time. read more

Unpleasant experience..made reservation a week before to enjoy an early quiet dinner..asked for our usual quiet table in back where two tables for 2 were empty..was told those tables were for bigger parties who were not there and he would move them eventually....we could sit about a foot from the only two occupied tables.,The waiter was unpleasant and obsequious..with a piercing...as an older person I find piercings off putting to say the least...the food has been good in past but the nice waiters then were charming We left and had a very nice dinner at cafe Nello. no piercings and friendly..and fit us in at last moment When a restaurant becomes popular the staff often acts as though it is a privilege to eat there....at a high price I expect friendly service not someone out to garner tips from big parties.. read more

We had our 2nd visit there last week. The not hot issue was corrected and the onion soup and chicken entree were both very good. The staff here tries hard to please so that is half of the battle. They exhibit good teamwork which is nice to see. Desserts are also top shelf. Keep up the positive mojo. read more

La Maison - Roast chicken - French Near Me - Bronxville, New York

My first time to La Maison was a joy. I was fortunate to work on my French with my server Benoit while I enjoyed a fresh and crisp ginger kombucha that tasted as if it was just brewed. I had the steak frites with the herb entrecôte. It was not what I expected; the sauce had a hint of licorice, maybe anise, and you have a choice of two other sauces. I wish the steak was cooked a little more rare, but was tasty nonetheless. As others have stated, the vibes felt French: the French flags, French decor, and French music playing softly in the background. I had no problem finding street parking in the evening time. Lovely French restaurant located in the heart of Bronxville. Charming atmosphere, like being in Paris. Peter was my server, he was very polite. He provided some recommendations since it was my first time visiting. I was able to sample 2 different red wines, both were great but I really enjoyed the Saint Siffrein Côtes Du Rhône. It was light and smooth. I'm always on the hunt for the best escargots, this is now my new favorite spot in Westchester. Definitely a must have. I also ordered the salade d'Endives and this was very good. For my entree, I had the steak frites, it was cooked to perfection and very juicy. The fries were nice and crispy too. I had the crème brûlée for dessert, very delicious, not too sweet and heavy. Service was flawless. I look forward to coming back soon. I'm a big fan of La Casa and when I heard they were opening a French restaurant, I was very excited! Fun fact, the two spots have a shared kitchen! The staff are very welcoming and accommodating. I started with the escargots which were buttery and very tasty. I ordered the steak frites because why not?! I decided to skip dessert but I will be back to try the chocolate mousse. read more

I'll start with the good: The servers were very nice people. BUT... we got butter on the table right away, but we had to ask for bread 3 times before we got some. There were only 4 not-wonderful beers on the menu. We waited an hour for our main course. All of the mains were cool/cold on delivery. Two of us ordered steak medium, and both arrived nearly raw. We sent those back, and when they came back, some of the piece was charred and some was still raw. What's worse is that a similar situation seemed to be developing at other tables. What a shame. We won't return. Again, I felt badly for the servers having to deal with this situation. read more

We had dinner here last night with friends and unfortunately left disappointed. I arrived before everyone else while my husband looked for parking, and after being seated I immediately noticed how incredibly loud the room was. Once my husband and friends arrived -- about 10 minutes later -- we still waited another 20 minutes before anyone took a drink order. When the drinks finally arrived, we were immediately pushed to place our dinner order, even though we wanted time to actually enjoy our cocktails first. The pacing of the meal felt completely rushed from there. Our salads arrived quickly and before our plates were even cleared, dinner was already being dropped on the table. The food itself was mixed. My scallops were good, but my husband's steak frites were disappointing. The steak was tough and the fries honestly tasted like Ore-Ida frozen fries. What was most frustrating was that there was never any acknowledgment or apology for the rushed and inattentive service. We are always excited to try new restaurants, and this was our first visit here, but unfortunately it will probably also be our last. read more

Where to start? Extremely slow service. The waiter was polite, continually rearranging his hair in a ponytail with his bare hands. When he finally brought out the food, the same unclean hands. As for food, after 15 minutes: appetizer of onion soup and escargot. delicious. He then brought out the bread that we had asked for when he gave us our drinks upon arrival. Then we waited over 45 minutes for the main course. They came out lukewarm, not hot. The steak was okay, but the fries were almost cold. The chicken was good. Will we come again? I doubt it. La Maison Bronxville was an excellent experience from start to finish. We started with the escargot, which was one of the best I've ever had....rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The scallops with puréed parsnips were just as impressive. The scallops were cooked well and the parsnip purée complemented them perfectly. For dessert, we tried the vegan Cashew Cheesecake. It was unique and different in a good way...definitely worth trying. The service was great all around. The servers were knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience even better. La Maison Bronxville was fantastic beginning to end. The space is warm and inviting, the service was knowledgable, personable and attentive. And, most importantly, the food and cocktails excellent. The endive salad was crisp and hearty, the artichoke was cooked to perfection, the steak sauces are delicious and unexpected, the mussels offer a choice of traditional or with a twist (we chose traditional, and they were on point!), and the fries were crisp. We ended our evening with an apple tart tatin that was deliciously apple-forward. Cannot recommend highly enough! read more

A bit of Paris in Bronxville. La Maison feels like Paris wonderful food, great atmosphere perfect cocktails, attentive, ambience, and service. We had dinner at La Maison on a Saturday night. It was crowded and we waited 20 minutes after our reservation time for a table for 2. It took 30 minutes to place our order and then we waited (at first patiently) for our food to arrive. After around 50 minutes, my wife got up and asked our friendly but inexperienced server what was going on. After further inquiry, she was told that there were "two kitchens" and that our food had been sitting in the kitchen of the sister restaurant. Perhaps unsurprisingly, when the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and had to be sent back. The server was apologetic (offering us a glass of wine on the house), but plainly overwhelmed by whatever was plaguing the kitchen(s). La Maison is a rare treat. It's a lovely, cozy French cafe offering selective, quality cuisine and beverage choices at reasonable prices. My meal included a delectably-rich onion soup broth immersed with gruyere and toast points. Simply the best broth of its kind, and I'm extremely relentless on this type of soup. The lamb chops were seared and cooked perfectly in a delicious au-poivre sauce with mashed potatoes. Simply superb. Our friends raved about the escargot, steak frites and roasted chicken. My wife enjoyed the fresh vegetable endive salad with pear, walnuts and blue cheese in a vinaigrette dressing. I enjoyed a glass of the Saint'-Emilion Bordeaux and we all enjoyed a bottle of the Napa Cabernet. The perfect size deserts followed -- petit sundaes, and the Tart Tatin (apple tart). very disappointed, I should have known tried to call for reservation no answer. I ended up making a reservation online which was fine. We got there. The servers were very inexperienced. We waited for our drinks too long. The food was actually fine but after less than two hours, they asked us to leave. We were with friends that we haven't seen. I was mortified. I've never in my life paid $500 and was asked to leave after less than two hours. They should be ashamed. read more
