    Hot chocolate heaven
    Annie H.

You know, I always had a theory that no matter what is going on in your life, chocolate is the way to lift your mood up if you are down and celebrate if you are up. But by that, I mean with good chocolate, and the quality of the chocolate makes a world of difference, as exemplified by the heaven, that summer ice cream season at Maison du chocolate. I can't even remember when I discovered ice cream here (many moons ago), but as a rule of thumb, I don't think you can pass by the shop in summer without coming in for ice cream, just like you can't pass by the shop in winter and not come in for dark hot chocolates. Like... you really just can't. We normally go to the midtown location, so this is our first time at the upper Eastside spot, but the service was fantastic (of the number of times I've had ice cream here, it's the first time the ice cream came in a beautiful bowl rather than the usual paper cup lol), having both hot chocolate and ice cream in season together was incredible, in the space was just perfect to take a break at on a hot summer day. I think I've concluded that this location is even better than the midtown location, and definitely look forward to coming back! (And along with your walking break, for those who are touring the city and coming/going to the Met, yes, there's a restroom here at this location)

Stopped by to try the hot chocolate which was highly recommended to me. Around $10. I was pretty excited to see what it was about especially since this place makes really great chocolate. However, as far as hot chocolates, go, this kind of hit a midpoint between an American and European hot chocolate in that it wasn't necessarily just a water down chocolatey or mixture like the American version is, it was definitely better than that, but it wasn't giving that really nice thick, luxurious chocolatey velvety feel that you got from a European hot chocolate, which I was kind of expecting I suppose. while enjoyable, there are a lot of great spots nearby and throughout the city that offer a better hot chocolate experience so if that's what you're seeking this winter, perhaps come to this place just for their chocolate treats, and not necessarily hot chocolate. I received a chocolate macaron as a treat and it was good with a very delicate, airy shell, and a smooth, moist, richly sweet ganache like moment in the middle.

4.5 / 5.0 - I'd had chocolate and macarons from La Maison Du Chocolat in Paris and Tokyo and have loved this chocolatier ever since. I went to the UES location for the first time on Valentine's Day and because it was so delicious, I went back again today. This store is on Madison Ave and because it is quite small, they limit the number of customers who can go in at one time. It can be cold waiting outside in wintertime, but the wait generally isn't long and I do appreciate how they give customers the comfort and space to look around at all of their products. Their staff is professional and they are available to assist as needed. This is a high-end chocolatier, with a 2-piece chocolate box for $9+ and 16-piece starting at $38+. Their largest box is a 144-piece for $270+. So it may not be your everyday chocolate store, but they have melt-in-your-mouth delicious chocolates and make perfect gifts for Valentine's Day or a special treat for a chocolate-lover. I just tried their dark truffles, which were perfection. In addition to the chocolates, their macarons are as delicious if not more than the chocolates. Macaron shells can become hard pretty quickly, but these were perfect even after a day or two. They offer 11 flavors, each filled with a different ganache. So far, I've tried these 4 ganache macarons: - Quito: Dark chocolate ganache - Sylvia: Milk chocolate ganache - Venezuela: Dark chocolate ganache with woody notes - Abyssinie: Dark chocolate ganache flavored with ground coffee The ganache macarons are rich and elegant, each with a distinct flavor, without being overly strong or sweet. Each is so unique and delicious that I'm not sure I can choose a favorite--I actually enjoyed having a selection and being able to taste and compare the different flavors. One thing I haven't tried yet is their chocolate pastries, like the chocolate mousse cake, which is on my list for next time :)

I love chocolate. On a recent Saturday afternoon, I walked from The Met to the Frick Madison. On my way, I happened to pass by La Maison Du Chocolat and of course had to stop. I resisted buying everything and opted for two macarons, the 6-piece gift box, and the Amuse Barres Milk Chocolate which is a biscuit sable and almond hazelnut praline with slivers of roasted hazelnuts, puffed rice and slivers of crispy crepes enrobed in milk chocolate. Because the shop is small, the number of customers allowed inside is limited. However, once you get in the staff is very helpful with lots of recommendations. Of course, when I got home I went online and ordered a few boxes of chocolates for Xmas gifts and the Praline Choco Sticks because why not? You really can't eat just one choco stick. The online ordering experience was easy and they came via FedEx 2nd day since I ordered over $95 worth of chocolates. I had to order a box for myself and I'm having a few chocolates as I write this review. The chocolates are made in France and definitely worth stopping by for a sweet treat.

La Maison Du Chocolat This is a beautiful expensive chocolate shop on Madison Avenue. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. They didn't mind my photo taking, my questions were politely answered, and it was definitely a pleasant experience. The chocolate comes from France and is fresh. Naturally I fell in love with the chocolate covered coconut. That piece will set you back $6.75. I think I'll stick with a Mounds Bar from the newsstand. That's not to say this isn't a great place for chocolate delights if you can afford the luxury. I'm recommending you at least try a piece once!

If you want to be fancy and decadent than come here to indulge your secret chocolate fantasies. The chocolates are delicious. The macarons are scrumptious. Their hot chocolate is pretty darn amazing. Yet, at these prices it makes me remember that I don't live in the richy rich enclaves of Madison or Park Avenue. You're definitely paying for the quality here, but as a special gift it's a nice investment for any chocolate lover in your life. It's just too pricey for my wallet to make it a regular thing. Staff here is top notch and will offer a free sample. They take pride in their shop.

Beauty trumps flavor here for sure. I tried multiple chocolates ($3.50 a piece) and a box of macarons (6 for 25$) and they were just fine. There are so many options in NYC that I just can't imagine going back and spending that much on subpar bites. Maybe if you're looking to buy a really nice box as a gift, these would do

I came here on Monday, Memorial Day for some macaron treats. They're delicious. These are specifically, ganache macarons. The inside tastes the same for all of the flavors, but seems like they're not. Some say dark chocolate ganache, some say milk chocolate ganache, some say caramel ganache. I haven't tried all the flavors yet, so maybe I'll notice a different once I try them all. It's really good, but I do miss more variation in the flavored fillings, like in most other macarons I've tried. I got a few Venezuela which are a dark chocolate ganache with a chocolate shell. The Pistachio, the Figaro which is a dark chocolate ganache with hazelnut almond praline and hazelnut paste, and the Rigoletto - a caramel ganache and shell. They are delicious and taste very fresh. Not stale. Crisp outside shell, super soft creamy ganache and chewy inside shell. I would definitely be back when a macaron craving hits.

Maison du Chocolat deserves six stars: five for it's product and an extra for service. The employees here are *professionals* and really make the trip a pleasant experience.

The Neapolitan White Chocolate (NWC) variety is part of their limited time spring collection and was first introduced in 2020 (to the best of my knowledge). I'm going to begin with a brief tangent for those of you unfamiliar with Neapolitan Ice Cream. Supposedly it has its origins in the cuisine of the Italian city Naples and the Neapolitan immigrants who brought spumoni to the U.S. Spumoni is an Italian dessert that uses three different flavored (vanilla, cherry, and pistachio) layers of ice cream that resemble the Italian flag. Americans would put their own spin on it by replacing the cherry with strawberry and the pistachio with chocolate. Moving back to the NWC truffles, the outer shell is comprised of a smooth and creamy white chocolate infused with strawberry, while the equally smooth core is a melty milk chocolate and white chocolate truffle. Although Neapolitan is not a favorite ice cream of mine (fruity ice cream is not my thing), Lindt absolutely nails it with all three flavors clearly coming through. Like all the other truffles I've tried from Lindt, the texture is phenomenal. I was a bit skeptical going into this one and only picked these up out of curiosity when I spotted them on clearance. If they could win me over, then you have to give these a try if you're a fan of the ice cream flavor. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews My Favorite Lindt Truffles: 1. Birthday Cake 2. The great reviews and overall rating along with the fact they had an emphasis on sour beers (my wife's favorite style of beer) made it a no brainer. Also as you have likely seen they are a women-owned operation so another positive. We did mistakingly walk by it at first but quickly found it. It's a beautifully designed space and more unique than your typical brewery space. Also speaking of they have lots of drinks other than beers, including wines, ciders, cocktails, coffee and a couple NA beers. Due to the impending storm they were closing early but my wife and I each got a beer. I got their New England IPA called Sun Up which was citrusy and juicy with a touch of bitterness/hoppy notes. Then my wife got their fruited sour Peach Berry Punch that definitely had a punch of pink guava and peach but the berry was more subtle. Two great beers with plenty of other styles available too. Service was friendly with a smile and took no time to get our beers. Such a positive experience we plan on returning to give their cocktails a try! An absolute must visit for beer lovers who find themselves near Bryant Park! (Also non-beer lovers since they offer so much more too.)

I am a devotee of dark chocolate, and have tried every dark offering it has. That said, my personal favorite is the Anastasia, a hazelnut and dark praline enrobed in dark chocolate. It is exquisite. Service is always excellent. I've ordered in person and over the phone, and have always been so pleased with the staff. The website is helpful when ordering a variety, but if you'd like an entire box of Anastasia, for example, you have to call the Rockefeller Center store and place the order by phone. They ship once a week, and I always have my box fairly quickly. Boxes make terrific gifts ... including for yourself. If you're walking in, I recommend sitting down to enjoy a few pieces of chocolate, then taking the rest in a box with you. There is a cozy but comfortable seating area in the back just for this. This area is also an ideal place to enjoy some of their drinking chocolate. Highly, highly recommend.
