Finally got around to trying this place and I'm disappointed it took so long. Everything was so FLAVORFUL. You can tell everything is seasoned by hand and not from a pre made can. Their sauces are definitely on the spicier side- which I enjoy, but just a warning for someone who is more sensitive. We had the wet burrito, and enchiladas with red sauce. This place is amazing!!!! Los mariscos(tostada de ceviche Mixto, chile relleno de camarones and the tower w all the seafood). After being on the road for about 4hrs, we were real hungry. The place was kind of empty on a Sunday 2pm. Not sure but most of town looked empty. The chips were freshly fried and served w frijolitos. My oldest got a super burrito w adobada, his plate was cleaned up with no trace of any food. :) my other son got another super burrito w asada. It was tasty. But again if you looking for some real authentic seafood (Mexican style), this is your place. The menu is extensive. I came here once in the summer and I wanted to save my review until I came back but it doesn't seem like I ever have the urge to go back. I came in with my family and the server is really nice, but the prices don't match the food. One dish we got was some seafood that was packed in foil with butter and it lacked any kind of seasoning. We had another dish that was supposed to be a seafood dish but was also lacking any kind of seasonings. It was bland and tasteless. I really thought maybe it was an off day, but I never seem to see it busy when I pass by and I don't know anyone who recommends it. 80 dollars for three people seems awfully steep, especially for food that doesn't taste like anything. I like the concept of Mexican seafood, I just found the presentation and skill to be completely missing the mark. read more

Came here for my coworkers bday. I wish I could say I started with a margarita but we had to go back to work. The chips we got at first were kinda cold but were much better once we got the fresh batch. The salsa was good. We requested a spicier one that tasted smoky so we didn't really like that. THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD in town!!! You can tell they're understaffed because of Covid and since it's a little hole in the wall. But above everything, the food, flavors, service... AMAZING!!! I came with my sister for lunch. Didn't think we would like it. It's pretty empty but people do come in and order. The place is VERY clean, which is a plus. We order margaritas to start. Those were pretty good. Had a strawberry Margi in the rocks, could have used a little less syrup, but over all it did the trick. We asked for chips and salsa, the chips came out FRESH, which is rare for a Mexican restaurant. Usually they've been sitting around at least a day or two. The salsa was on point. Next we ordered the fish ceviche tostada and my sister a Adobado taco. BOTH were fresh and DELISH!!! We could have made a meal from just those two alone. Next we ordered Chile relleno with shrimp and cream sauce... HEAVEN ON A PLATE. This was SO GOOD!!! My sister ordered the Mexican meat plate, it was also very very good. The rice was homemade style, bomb!! I can't rave enough. I've been to a few spots here and to be honest, some weren't this good at all. They were OK, this place is worth the wait. Small little lilac house with the most amazing Mexican food to be found. First time I have been there. I moved from Central CA and was wanting some great Mexican food. I definitely found it I had the searood cerviche and my nephew had a wonderful shrimp dish. Even the refried beans were amazing. We have lived here for 18 months, and have been unable to find a really good Mexican restaurant (the ones we've tried are ok, but sort of American/Mexican style food). La Mansion was definitely more authentic, earning 5 stars! My dinner companion had chicken enchiladas with salsa verde. I had three street-type chicken tacos, with a side of salsa verde. Both were great! The emphasis was on SIMPLICITY and FLAVOR, not food drowning in guacamole and sour cream. Unlike other Yelp reviewers we did not have to wait a long time for the food to come. So this afternoon I had to revisit La Mansion its been on my mind since we happened across it 2 weeks ago, i was so excited and decided to order the sameeee exact thing i got last visit. It was after all scrumptious and had earned a well deserved encore. I must say i was underwhelmed and left hungry and frustrated. We were seated at 7:09 and got our food at 8:39 pm it was underseasoned, thrown together and it made me sad. I had 3 bites and took the rest home. Soooo what happened Mansion?!! Where was your staff? Why was there only one waitress for the whole restaurant , why was the food so inconsistent with such a great 1st visit? I believe imo la mansion's owners should work on better customer service and add staff. Your quality suffers if there us noone to cook or serve. I am sad to say I will not return. I've been hesitant to go to this new restaurant simply because they took over the old Ricardo's location and I knew the ambience would be drastically different. Well, I was right: walls painted in garish colors, chipped paint, flooring that needs repaired, and generally giving the appearance of an old, out of the way family run Mexican restaurant that has been around for 50 years. The bathrooms, however, were sparkling clean, which makes me more comfortable with the hygiene policy of any place I visit. If you go, do NOT expect to see the cozy, warm Tuscany style that was Ricardo's. Expect instead to see several flat screen TVs with futball and Spanish network tv, with several competing radio stations playing different music in the back and front of the house. Having described the scene, just so you are fully informed, I must now go on to say how DELICIOUS, FRESH, and FLAVORFUL our entrees were. The meat in my mixed fajita grill was cooked just right - not over cooked. The salsa tasted homemade and the rice and beans tasted homemade. I would definitely recommend this place for flavor and friendly wait staff in lieu of some of the bigger, chain Mexican restaurants around town. read more

An amazing dinner for four on a Thursday night. The Chili Relleno is stuffed with shrimp and mushrooms and topped with a delicious, creamy chipotle sauce. The Camarones Apretalados had about a dozen shrimp wrapped in bacon. The Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo and the Mar Y Tiarra rounded out the entrees. Server was exceptionally nice and gave great service. By far the absolute best Mexican restaurant my boyfriend and I have ever been to. It is owned by a family, and you can tell their passionate about this place. I ordered the burrito and it was so delicious with garlic and lime sauce drizzled below it. Honestly the food was good. Maybe we didn't go at a good time but the ambiance was weird, no music playing. Our waitress was nice enough but asked many times if we wanted to add anything and asked if she could close out our check a couple minutes after getting our lunch. At the end of our meal we gave the check and tip and the waitress came back to ask if we wanted the 48 cents back from our check, fiancé and I were very confused as we left her a tip larger than 48 cents. Very awkward experience. Beer is canned which I prefer bottled and didn't even come with a glass to pour in. That being said the burrito and tacos were good. Chips were fresh and bean dip flavorful. I would love to come back and try some of the entrees on the menu and hope for a better experience. Will absolutely take the advice on here and look up the menu items next time as it was hard to understand which could really be a down side to new customers. read more

I was there less than a week after it opened. 1) I'm diabetic and I asked for a Diet Coke. They don't have it. I think all they carry is Mexican products with cane sugar. The waitress said there have been a number of requests. 2) The menu is basically all in Spanish. It's a Mexican restaurant, but I assume a lot of customers will not read Spanish. I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants so I've got some idea about menus, but it would be nice to have English, that is if they want more English speaking customers. The menu is very limited. No burritos or other items I've seen in every other Mexican restaurant. Perhaps it's more authentic, but it was a surprise. 3) I ordered Camaron a la Crema. I've had it at other restaurants and I know that it's shrimp in a cream sauce. What I got was shrimp drowned in nacho sauce. Nacho sauce is fine on chips, but not so good on shrimp. I didn't complain so I don't know if that was supposed to be a creme sauce or that was the way it was supposed to be. And the cheese sauce had almost no flavor. 4) The service was OK, no real complaints. And I suppose I should have spoken up about the nacho sauce. But I don't think I'll be back to find out if they know the difference between cream sauce and nacho sauce. 5) No chips and salsa. Maybe that's the way in Mexico, but it's really expected in the Olympia area. I'm really sorry to have had a fairly bad experience, I was hoping to have another place to eat in Lacey, where there aren't really very many good restaurants. read more

If you expect an Americanized Mexican restaurant DONT GO THERE. Go to Taco Bell instead. The service was great. The ambience was nice and cozy. The best micheladas for $6, for those that don't know what micheladas are, Google it. If you can't read the menu because its mostly in Spanish.... Google it!!! The pescado enpanizado is to die for. The oysters are everything. And the aguaschiles are probably the best I've had in a long time.. Highly Recommended. Oh. And they have live music on the weekends. Just Olympia needed, a truly authentic Mexican experience!!! If you don't know what Mexican experience is...go to Mexico OR Google it. Ps. I'm not a Google employee lol read more

They gave me more than I could handle food wise and more than I expected flavor wise. The beans here are amazing.as well as the rice and I am a hard Mexican rice critic. The menu is small but quite varied, with a number of interesting seafood selections and also other choices. The wait person was very helpful and patient with our questions. Some items on the menu are translated to English, but not all. After ordering, a basket of fresh tortilla chips and a dip of refried beans and cheese was brought to the table. My husband ordered the shrimp with cream sauce and I ordered the bacon-wrapped shrimp. The cream sauce was made with cheese, and included mushrooms and onions. It was much appreciated. My bacon-wrapped shrimp were served with guacamole. The Spanish rice, which was part of both meals, was nice and light. I look forward next time to trying the seviche, a Peruvian dish. I really had high hopes after reading all the reviews. I read an article in Thurston Talks that also gave great reviews and mentioned a Taco Tuesday special. I decided to take my son out and give it a try with great expectations on finding a new Mexican restaurant to enjoy. Tuesday evening, at about 7:00pm, upon entering the place young children in and around the "hostess" area screamed 'another customer'. Perhaps they could teach them to say "hi we'll be right with you" rather than screaming. Soon the waitress came from the seating area and asked how many. Not even hello. The place looks like your typical run down obnoxiously colored paint peeling Mexican dive with fake ivy hanging here and there amongst the blaring TVs playing futbol. Our waitress was rude. I had to ask three times about the special. We finally placed our order. Fresh chips came out about 15 minutes later just before our food. The tacos were full of meat but rather flavorless. After eating one taco we were brought sauce. That helped with the flavor a bit. My son had to go up front and ask for his soda. There was one other table, that's it. The children continued to run around screaming, I'm assuming they are the owners kids. That mixed with TVs blasting in Spanish didn't make for a very peaceful time. When all was said and done finally we walked out the door and both said thank you have a nice night with absolutely zero response from our waitress that was leaning on the counter watching TV. We definitely won't waste our time here again. We'll stick with our favorite family run Mexican restaurant on Martin way. Thank God we didn't come with a large group like we usually do. read more

We love Mexican food and been waiting to try the food here for a while.today we had a chance to visit and we were very disappointed on the service and food. We order an appetizer and two entries.We waited for a long time for our food close to 20 minutes my wife got her 7 mares soup and we got our appetizers at the same time less the 1 minute later I got my shrimp dinner. I try to explain to the waitresses that usually you seve the appetizer before the main corse. The food was a big disappointment also the soup was very spicy and hardly any sea food in it, my garlic shrimp plate had only 6 very small shrimps and tasted very plain. We had tried several local Mexican restaurants in the area and this one we will never go back to. If you are looking for a great meal and value go somewhere else. read more
