I've always loved this bakery's cakes, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I wanted to order a tres leches cake for my daughter's first birthday, so I called six days in advance to place the order. I was told to call back a day or two before because they tend to lose tickets and sometimes orders don't go through. That alone felt odd, but I trusted them. When I called back today, exactly as instructed, I was told they didn't think they could make the cake. I explained that I had tried to order almost a week ago and followed their directions, but it didn't matter--the order still couldn't be accommodated. This bakery has been around since I was a kid, and I genuinely wanted to continue supporting a local business, but the lack of organization and accountability is unacceptable--especially for an important milestone like a first birthday. It's nice to see a Mexican bakery in Oakley. We've been wanting to check them out and we finally have a chance to buy some of their pastries and bread. It's a small place but they offer a variety of Mexican pastries. We were greeted warmly and they are very helpful. We bought a few of their pastries and they have their best selling breads. It's on a big pan located right next to the cashier. We can't resist but buy them. They're very good. It's soft but not that sweet. It's huge in size compared to your usual dinner roll. Ever since I moved, I been in search for a really good panaderia. I finally came here after hearing really great things about this place. Upon arriving, the owners were really sweet and welcoming. Everything is made on site, as I was looking to pick bread of choice, the fresh bread was coming out from the oven, and being put out on the racks. The bread is so soft, and delicious. Well, nothing to break a piñata over. They are ok for the Pan they have on site. Variety seems to be marginal compared to other locations, but they are close and satisfying my pan craving. Location is a bit small. I will come back again if I'm in the area and have a craving. read more

No frills, small & quaint--this spot is equal parts charming and convenient. My pan dulce purchases were tasty, and their options were not bad for a late Sunday afternoon (but I can't wait to come back during "off-hours" to get my pick of the racks). This bakery is so cute! It has a "small/local business" feel to it, which I love! The staff are polite and attentive. We heard a lot about their tres leches cakes, so we ordered one for a birthday in the family. The smallest one they make can feed 20 people! But the price was very reasonable! The pickup went off without a hitch, and the cake looked very nice. It has some heft to it! This is a weighty and tasty cake! I really like the flavor of the cake. The frosting was very nice as well! The strawberry marmalade was good. We would eat this cake again! The only thing we wanted more of was the marmalade and the frosting. I hired them to do custom breads (pan dulce) for my husbands surprise party this past weekend, they did the colors I asked for, made half size pastries per my request, and they were made just an hour or two before the event- can't get any fresher! What can I say? I'm a huge fan. They have tasty baked goods for a very fair price, and the folks are always kind. I have 2 favorites. One is a thick slice of bread covered with butter, sugar and dried coconut. The other is like a bread pudding cake. OMG, it's SO good. I've always ordered a tres leches cake for birthdays here and they are always the best (brought one to work and was a hit with EVERYONE.) The bread is delicious and fresh. Let's just say I got up at 6 am on a weekend just to go back. Sure I could have gone later but I would have risked them being sold out of my favorites and more importantly the warmth that comes with fresh baked good when they are fresh out the oven. This place at first glance may not beg you to stop and come in but once you finally do you will wish you had been stopping in all along. While the donuts, churros, and turn overs are fantastic my favorite is the bread that is filled with Jalapeños and cream cheese. So if you go in and only want to try one thing I would highly recommend trying it first. Beyond all the deliciousness that is over flowing from the shelves the prices are extremely reasonable. Your money will go a long ways. So don't be lazy, wake up and treat yourself to some early morning goodness. read more

This is a little Mexican bakery. The Mexican bread is authentic. Bolillos and concha's and puerquitos and many other sweet breads. you can special order tres leches cakes so yummy. There is a refrigerator with flans and jellos and sometimes slices of tres leches cake. It's a hidden treasure. When you walk in you see a big container filled with fresh bolillos (Mexican bread sandwich rolls). Yumm. read more

Let me start off by saying, this Panaderia is super affordable. They have the best Tres Leches cake ever! I had them make my daughter's Dora birthday cake last year and it was perfectly delicious. I plan on using them again, this year. I'd like to make a point about Martin's comment, Mi Pueblo does have a large selection, but it doesn't taste as good as La Michoacana. They come in generous portions, topped with cheerful sprinkles, and only cost a dollar apiece. The establishment is probably no bigger than your kitchen. The ambiance is not the best--dim lighting, drab decor. But the colorful pastries are super cheap and really catch your eye behind the glass. They also sell a few drinks, like Kern's, and popsicles. This place is located just up the street from Pasale's Mexican Restaruant y Tacqueria (now closed) and next to the El Sombero Liquor & Bait Store on Main St Oakley. I'm no expert on pan dulce, but this store offers a small selection of very tasty Mexican sweet breads, cookies and donuts for very reasonable prices. They certainly don't have a selection of pan dulce you can find at Mi Pueblo in Pittsburg, but that's over 10 miles away. I got a bag of 7 different items including a concha, a great sugar cookie, a very tasty coconut cream filled bread and some other things for only $2.80. So, it's cheap and you'll definitely get your money's worth. They are open 7 days a week from 5am (at least that's what they're business card says) until 9pm on weekdays and 8pm on weekends. So, if you're in the mood for some pan dulce, you can get some at almost any hour here. read more
