This place is such a treat! They have delicious food and warm service. They didn't get 5 stars only because our food took maybe 30 minutes to get to our table. BUT... It was soooo worth the wait! Excellent food and very good customer service. This place is family owned and apparently two sisters manage it. One manages the kitchen and the other walks the floor. They both do an awesome job. The ingredients in the omelette were truly garden fresh, and black beans were as tasty as a Latina mom would make them at home. The oatmeal pancakes were awesome, and the coffee (my personal obsession) was surprisingly good. I got a kick out of the coffee mugs too. We were coming from up north and just passing through, but if we ever go that way again, we will surely visit them again. read more

What made this experience one to remember? The customer service! I went to the coffee shop then the restaurant. When arriving to the coffee shop I was greeted with an amazing aroma of coffee beans and pastries that were placed out front. the place was filled with people yet not too crowded, they got everyones orders out quite fast. The coffee shop and restaurant both seem to have some hispanic influence which is amazing! I love to see businesses take influence from other places and bringing them here. I got a hot latte, macarons, and a beautifully presented personal banana bread! All were good. It took me about 4 minutes to realize that the restaurant was just further down past the cafe. I believe I ran into the owner herself and she was very welcoming as it was our first time! She made sure we were seated within 15 minutes as the restaurant tends to get pretty busy for lunch time. One thing I noticed is that all the employees seemed very happy to be there and everyone was very kind and welcoming. I would definitely be a regular if I wasn't so far away! Although there was a delay with the order the first time there, they meet my standards for outstanding food. I had the chilaquilles breakfast which was flavorful, the salsa was amazing, and the second time I had the sourdough French toast breakfast with fresh fruit and Lavender Honey Latte. I returned for lunch and tried their shrimp quesadilla which did not disappoint. Overall, the food is delicious, the place is cute, and the service was attentive so I do recommend this place. read more

One of my favorite coffee shops in the Central Valley. Always friendly staff and an overall great experience every time I have gone. I usually order a chai tea, hot or iced, and it's not too spicy or sweet. Has wonderful inside and outside seating. A must go coffee shop to visit! read more

This hidden gem in Turlock is definitely a must try. Been here 3 different times and each meal was absolutely delightful. This is not the place to come if you are looking for the "standard fare" of rice & refried beans. La Mo Café offeres patrons much more rich and indulgent flavors which are reminiscent of the Caribbean. The first time I had a bowl of the homemade chicken tortilla soup and grilled chicken sandwich. The soup was definitely a treat and is the best chicken tortilla soup I've had so far. The sandwich was also very tasty and I love the black beans that come as a side. The second time we came here and had the 3 mini sope appetizer with carne asada, Black beans, cotiza cheese and nopales. (I don't like the taste nor texture of nopales, but I have to say that they nailed this dish because I haven't had nopales since I left home for college. And that my friends has been quite some time now.) Our entré was an amazing lamb in red mole. Holy smokes was that good! The flavors of the homemade mole were all there and the tenderness of the lamb was on point. It was one of those moments when you both have a mouth full, look at each other and go..."MMMM". Toady I tried the daily special charred corn, cauliflower & goat cheese quesadilla. It's made with local cilantro goat cheese from Nicolau farms and grilled red onion in a whole wheat tortilla. (I added chicken to it.) Man was my server on point with her suggestion to try it. It was absolutely fantastic! But with other daily specials such as the roasted red pepper soup, super kale salad tamales and grilled snapper tacos, you can't go wrong. Almost speechless! Their wedding sauce is to-die-for. They should sell it in jars. Any dish that comes with this sauce is an automatic WOW! Mimosa is also priced at $6, which is very fair. Will come back to try other dishes. (Seriously La Mo, sell that sauce in jars!) read more

I enjoyed brunch at this very lovely establishment with a friend last Saturday. While waiting for a table, we enjoyed the extended Farmer's Market (larger than usual). The wait time was about the time the hostess had anticipated. Our sever was very friendly. Our stemmed glasses needed to be switched out, as one had lipstick residue, and the other had what appeared to be dried orange pulp. One of the glasses that was brought out was wet inside and out. It took a while to receive our new glasses at which time we enjoyed our champagne. The food was nicley presented. My friend asked for the owner because the waitress had placed a 2' x 2' floor fan about two feet from our table and it was blowing up all the dust from the ground which could easily be seen from the sunlit patio and our vantage point. The owner was kind enough to shut it off for "almost" our entire stay. Surely the intention is to keep the guests cool during the summer heat, but it is not okay to blow up dust in a food establishment, least yet--during COVID. I would recommend purchasing misters in place of the ground fans. All-in-all, it was a lovely brunch with beautiful ambience, and obviously, a favorite spot in Turlock. Have been here twice. The first time I was so exited to try this new place, we waited patiently a long time until someone noticed that our waitress forgot to add our order in before she left for break. Good cafe but they almost always make my drink wrong (particularly iced instead of hot). I've told them before and they remake it but they do make you feel a bit like it's your fault so after I while I've just stopped saying anything because sometimes it's just too early to be made to feel like you're the reason they made it wrong. I have checked my receipts on my phone to assure that I did in fact order my drinks hot. I guess if it's summer time this is the perfect place lol. I'll always have a special place in my heart for la mo but I am ready for another coffee shop to open up in Turlock some day just so the I have the option to venture elsewhere once in while. I've gone a few times.. Here is a honest review. First "atmosphere" is nice in the evening ( summertime). If you go at night for a coffee and dessert, the patio is strung with lights and is nice. During the day the same patio is nice too but you have to battle the flies. Tables are cute but some iron chairs are hard and may not be ok if you have back problems. Next the "food"... even though they are a Latin inspired place, they do not give complementary chips & salsa, we ordered it and the chips were so hard and dry that one scratched my throat going down. They plate the food nicely! The portions are not big so if you have a big appetite order enough food. I ordered a single chili relleno plate and should have ordered two, the pepper was not a full sized Pasilla chili but the size of a Jalapeño. Wedding Chicken was delicious and they make a lovely salad with fresh peaches in the summer time. It's not only beautiful but tastes awesome.. FAILED!!!!! Consistency of food! NAILEDIT!!!! Atmosphere. Although this place has an amazing quaint atmosphere, it doesn't make up for the fact that the food is NEVER consistent! It was my first time here so I was excited to try it as I've always had friends a say it was good. There was a wait so we grabbed coffee in the cafe portion while our table was ready. Coffee was delicious. The Valencia is my new favorite if ever in the area. When we got seated service was pleasant however our meal was disappointing. I ordered the benedict and he the burrito. Both our meals where cold and lacked flavor. I'm not one to send food back so I ate what I could.
