I am new to the Glenview area and was looking for a good hair salon for a dye and trim. I googled "hair salons in Glenview" and the first name that popped up was "La Mode." I called there last month and booked an appointment for the next day on March 16th. Let me just say that NADIA IS THE BEST!! We hit it off from the start. She is so courteous and friendly. She listed to me and was able to make up my color perfectly. Btw, my color is red and it's not easy to work with but she made it perfect. Also she gave me a layer cut and blowout. Very happy with the outcome! I was so very happy with her work! I have another appointment today for a touch up. Can't wait to see her. If I could give zero or negative, I would. My daughter sat in the chair at 400 pm and I had to rescue her from the salon at 945 and they still weren't done ruining my daughter's beautiful hair. It was long and just needed the roots to be touched up. The lady messed up the foils and then tried to do it again a second time. When that didn't work, she applied "color" at the roots to try to make it appear like there were highlights. When I realized my daughter was gone for almost 6 hours, I went there. And the lady was STILL working on her hair. And she has the NERVE to say I should appreciate her work and pay her. My daughter looks like a dying tiger. There's orange, white, brown, fat chunks, etc. Theres grid marks, blotches, orange clumps, etc. Her hair is ruined. My daughter is in tears and does not want to go to school. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. EDIT: these bastards messaged and harassed my teenaged daughter to pay this bill. When we got home, the entire back of her shirt was bleached! Her skin was irritated and it cost us $500 to fix at Mario Triccoci. The freaking rude lady said we needed to "appreciate work". My daughter is and was in tears. Refused to go to school and it's horrified that this damaged caused after 7 hours. No apology. Just a bill. read more

Picture this. Friday afternoon 11:00 I call the salon and tell them I have not seen them in two years and I cannot wait to get my roots touched up. They said a woman can accommodate me at 5:45. I walk into the Salon floored. The redo is amazing! It so beautiful and letting that sunshine shine bright. I was greeted by Emsy as always he was so kind and warm he was working on a bride! It was sooo sweet. Nadia took my partial highlights and finished with a blowout. Nadia is such a talented stylist and a beautiful woman to be around. I can't begin to tell you what an amazing hair stylist Emsy is! The owner of the salon. After a bad case of balayage from another hair salon. In just in one week, he was able to make my hair from damaged and the ugliest combination of colors in my hair to what I wanted. He took just one look at the picture of what I asked for and let me know, it might not be possible due to my hair recently being colored but he will try his best to get it to the color I want. I came here with high hopes because of Yelp reviews. It is true what they say about reading the one star Yelp reviews first. Not only did the shampoo person have no clue on how to wash someone's hair, the stylist could not have been more apathetic. When I walked in, I was led right to the shampoo area. A good stylist will meet you first, have a look at your hair, and discuss what you want to have done. None of this happened until I requested to see the stylist. She gave my hair and me a desultory glance and disappeared. I was not encouraged. The shampoo woman barely wet my hair enough for the shampoo to be effective. Additionally, she used so little shampoo, one would have thought she was paying for it. I cannot describe how ineffective the wash was. There was very little scrubbing effort and half my head was ignored. Finally, somebody started scrubbing my head like it was supposed to be washed. I later learned it was the stylist, who had stepped in mid-wash. She did a great job but it was creepy to sit up and see a different face... but I was not unhappy. Next issue: The salon made a big deal about carrying and using Moroccan Oil products, which was a large part of why I chose this salon. Further, I had a conversation about wanting them to use both Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner products. They assured me it was no problem. I have no clue what conditioner was put in my hair but it was not Moroccan Oil. I know this because it smelled differently. In fact, the smell was rank and gave me an unbelievably quick headache. Writing this review is giving me another headache just remembering the reeking stink. **I'm making a big deal about the product because it's a fantastic product that works well. Had they not promoted MO, it never would've been an issue. On the other hand, I probably would not have gone into the salon had they not carried it. The stylist feigned surprise when I mentioned the Moroccan Oil and started leading me back to the shampoo area. At this point, every fiber of my being began screaming to get out of the salon ASAP! I told her thanks but no thanks, took off the towel, dropped $10 at the checkout counter and left. I'm not sure why I left anything for an unbelievably awful experience but did. My advice to anyone reading this review is to trust your gut. Always. It is important to have an open mind. However, when things start going awry at the beginning, they rarely get better. read more

I called to book an appointment where they were offering openings on multiple days and times until I informed the lady on the phone that I had a Groupon. She then proceeded to tell me that you can only use Groupon on Wednesday but was willing and ready to book my appointment from the jump before the stated fact. No where in the fine print is there a specified date and time when the Groupon can be used. She was completely rude and incompetent in providing the best customer service to prospective clients. They must not really need the business for them to take out a Groupon ad and not comply with the coupon. They don't know how to market themselves nor know how to conduct a sales pitch. To the next prospective, good luck on trying to book something within your busy schedule. I can easily spend my $100+ at a more customer friendly salon. read more

I was absolutely delighted to discover this place on Saturday. The owner and other Ladies were very pleasant and skillful in coloring, cutting washing and styling my hair. I did some color correcting, balayage, cutting and styling. I loved Emsy's approach- very artistic and creative. Very grateful for my new Summer look . I admittedly had a Groupon for a haircut here - and got one of the best haircuts I've had in years. I went in with a long bob that was ok, but not spectacular, and the bangs NEVER worked right. I left with a layered, somewhat funky long bob with thicker bangs that work better than any bangs I've had since I started getting them 5 years ago. She took off way more in the back then I thought, but now it's bouncy and way more "styled". I've gotten at least 10 compliments at work - again, a first. The haircut itself didn't take long, which I appreciate, and the blowout was insanely thorough. I haven't had a blowout like that in years. I started going here when I still lived in the north suburbs and despite having moved downtown in the Loop, I still make the hour commute back North - commute time means so little when it comes to trusted quality service. I have long hair that I color about twice a year. The location is very nice and convenient with plenty of parking. It's a very cute salon but I just had an overall unpleasant experience. I bought a Groupon for this location which was Groupon put up by error but the owner was very gracious to let me make the appointment and match the price on the voucher in salon for full color and cut. When I got there, the stylist told me that I am getting a root touch up only which confused me because I called in for full color. Then I was told that because of my long (I never knew shoulder length hair is considered long) it would be extra charge on top of the Groupon, which I was sort of fine with because they were accommodating to take the Groupon that should have never been up. I picked out a color that has a hint of violet/purple in it and when the color was applied it looked awfully red. That's fine I thought. Maybe it will change. The whole experience felt rushed. I felt like the dye was getting thrown on my head. It ended up all over my ears, forehead, cheeks, back of neck and almost got on my pants despite wearing a smock. Finally when it was time to wash it out, a second stylist who was very kind tried very hard to get the red dye out of my forehead and rest if me with minimal luck. I do appreciate the attempt though. I was told a cream should have been put on me. So that's my goal for today, getting the rest of dye off my skin. A third stylist cut my hair, she was very nice and friendly. When she was done it didn't quite look like what I asked for and when I said I think it looks strange and chunky I was assured it's just the way it was blow dried. Alright I thought, it's past their closing time, maybe I'll come back if I don't like it after I wash it myself. And on top on that my hair is burgundy red now with no hint of purple. I didn't mention to the stylist because I love red, just not what I picked out in the book. I've been looking for a salon in my area but I don't think this will be the place. It's possible because I had a later appointment and everyone just wanted to go home or because I had a discount but I don't think I'll be back. Something about coming out of the salon with the wrong hair color and a disappointing haircut doesn't seem like my idea of of a good time. Oh! And there is a $5 charge for using a credit which noone told me about until it was time to pay. read more

His pricing is very reasonable, and knows how to match color perfectly. My hair was very damaged when I first came to Emsy, and he has not only made my hair much healthier with his treatments, but he has also matched a color that fits me best. He does amazing extensions, color, highlights, cut, blow dry, and more. His wife Varna does beautiful makeup and also knows how to do a variety of makeup styles as well. Emsy is a master hairstylist that can restore any hair and make it look fantastic, like a movie star hair that loosk healthy and shiny. They use high quality organic products and their services are better than any salon I've ever visited. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality products and services they offer. Staff is very friendly and professional and they offer variety of services that makes it a one stop shop for me. A while back I had a very bad experience with a hairstylist I used at that time and he burned my hair so bad, no one was able to fix it. Emsy was the only hairstylist that decided to help and came up with a plan and put so much effort into it and was able to restore it and bring it back to life. He used organic products and some extensions, where needed so I looked like my old self again, even better than before. He styled my blonde hair for over 12 years, every three weeks (my hair is originally dark brown) and made it healthy, smooth, shiny and gorgeous. He is great with picking the right color, hairstyle and haircut for the specific skin complexion, color of eyes and shape of the face. He has styled hair for over 15-20 years, has been in many hair show competitions and is always implementing new and better trends. All my friends and family are very happy with him and his services. I decided to go back to my original color (dark brown) and he fully supported me and help me tremendously with that transition. My hair is healthier than ever. I am so grateful to him and his team. Purchased Groupon based on hours advertised on their website - open til 7pm Mon - Thursday, and until 8pm on Friday and Saturday, closed on Sunday. Apparently not for Groupon users - just tried calling a week in advance to schedule my appointment after 6pm on any weekday so I could go after work or on Saturday any time, and was told in not very professional way - only option they had for me 11 am on weekdays. Well, I guess they are trying to fill slow times - good for them, not so good for us working stiffs! I just cancelled my groupon, and taking my business elsewhere, not cool - misleading groupon customers. read more
