Incredible hidden restaurant in West Dallas! This place is in my top 5 Mexican restaurants in DFW. Very at home feeling, home cooked meal type place. Tortillas are awesome, pozole rojo is the best I've had. We've been here 5 time now and never have been disappointed. The staff is very friendly, and care about taking care of you. It's a family run business where the mom Is in the back cooking up everything! Absolute hidden gem

Food was amazing! The homemade flour tortillas were a 10/10. They also had a specialty menu, la modernita. I got the strawberry matcha and it was so good. Service was good and fast.

I was excited to see all the cars outside the restaurant and the restaurant was almost full. I wish they offered horchata but only had lemonada, pins or jamaica. The breakfast tacos come with two tortillas, potatoes, beans and the eggs you choose. I had bacon and eggs with homemade corn tortillas. The tortillas were fantastic but nothings else had much flavor. Even the salsa verde had very little flavor. I tried the homemade flour tortillas and they had very little flavor as well. If I go back, may try the pozole

    Chilaquiles!

The food, house salsa, homemade flour tortillas and customer service were all amazing! I went with a friend an hour before close at 3pm and they made us feel at home. I will definitely be returning and can't wait to try more of the menu.

We had a family of 7- three moms and teenagers. Some, picky eaters. We drove past this spot and tried it out. We walked in and it was full of Latinos (good sign). We ordered the breakfast tacos and they were delicious- with fresh flour tortillas. I mean DELICIOUS! The restaurant allowed for custom orders for the breakfast tacos (yay for the picky eaters). We also ordered the carnitas tacos and the kitchen made sure to crisp up the carnitas- which is amazing! Not everyone does that. The family that runs the restaurant is SO NICE. We are debating breakfast this morning. We want to try a new restaurant but yesterday's breakfast was so good- we want it again! Note: We are all foodies. Just came back from two weeks in Vietnam. We love good food... and we love La Moderna! Going back to Philly happy! SECOND Note: one other review said the food was lacking flavor. I think she meant the food wasn't salty- which it isn't. We ordered breakfast tacos- it's eggs, potatoes, and chorizo. No sauce on this dish. Just fresh ingredients folded together with a little pepper and salt. Now, I did agree with another reviewer that said the table sauces weren't hot. I would like to see a spicy version! THIRD Note: I think this restaurant doesn't have a lot of reviews is because many of the patrons are Latinos and don't do the Yelp or Google thing. The ones that are reviewing aren't the main clientele.

This place serves delicious green posole. Very hard to find since almost all restaurants only serve the red posole. They also have homemade fresh flour tortillas. My husband got mending and said it was delicious. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place. The ladies were very nice and attentive to our needs constantly checking in on us if anything was needed. Great place to eat!

I came in mainly to watch the game and have a few beers, but the service was so good you'd think I had ordered the entire menu instead of just casually committing crimes against the free chips and salsa. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made me feel very welcome. Honestly, if they treat a guy this well for drinking beer and demolishing complimentary chips, I can only imagine what happens if you actually order food. Definitely made me want to come back hungry. The restaurant seemed warm and inviting with all the natural light, but as the meal progressed, there were quite a few misses that degraded the overall experience here. First, they didn't really have much in the way of non-alcoholic drinks except for sodas, which I typically don't drink. I wanted a flavored lemonade or an agua fresca. The waiter said they had lemonade and they could add some mango flavoring, but when I go the drink, it was terrible. It was like a Countrytime or something to that effect. I couldn't taste the mango flavoring. The waiter was kind enough to offer to remake the drink when he realized I didn't like it, but it was the same again, so I gave up. It just tasted so artificial and gross. For my entree, I ordered an enchilada plate with scrambled eggs and potatoes. The first time it came out wrong. It was beef enchiladas and not the cheese that was listed on the menu. Then they brought out my plate again and it was now covered in queso. According to the menu, it was a cheese enchilada with chili con carne, but I didn't want to raise the issue. I was really hungry at this point and just accepted it. The food was okay...2 1/2 or 3 star territory. The restaurant itself was pretty cool. I like the location and the abundance of natural light, but the miscommunications with the kitchen and the generic lemonade drink exposed some real opportunities here.

Would return for drinks only and time with the bartender Devonte who was all vibes. We loved all the food we ordered. From the one hitters to the dessert. 5/5 Stars Everything…read moreabout my dinner at El Carlos Elegante was exceptional. Rather than ordering à la carte, I chose the Elegante Experience, a four-course chef-curated tasting menu that concludes with dessert for $99 per person. The menu evolves with the seasons, allowing the kitchen to showcase its freshest ingredients and current specialties, so every visit has the potential to be a little different. For the quality of the ingredients, creativity, and execution, I thought it was an outstanding value. Every course was beautifully prepared and packed with flavor. Not a single dish felt like an afterthought. The house-made masa program and wood-fired cooking really shine throughout the meal, and it's easy to see why this restaurant has earned such a strong reputation. The service was prompt, attentive, and genuinely courteous without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere strikes a rare balance, it feels refined while still being warm, familial, and incredibly inviting. If you're ordering a cocktail, I highly recommend the El Dragón. It paired perfectly with the meal and is worth trying. I've uploaded several photos with this review be sure to flip through them to get an idea of just how beautiful the presentation is. El Carlos Elegante is one of those restaurants that reminds you a tasting menu doesn't have to be intimidating or overpriced. It simply delivers outstanding food, excellent hospitality, and an experience that feels well worth the price. I'll definitely be back.

So thinking we showed up for our reservation, this location says they don't take reservations. They stop at is anyway, which was nice. We were seated on the porch, and here's where things got weird. We ordered our drinks and when the drinks were delivered, we said we were ready to order, and the waitress, hesitated and then said she would be back. Kinda strange, but eventually we had our order taken. I ordered a mango agua fresca which was pretty good. The complementary chips and salsas were also really good. For an entree I had the Tempura Fried Fish Tacos. These were very good and the coleslaw served with them was very good- crunch and bright. Overall the food here is pretty solid. The service was a bit off, but not a deal breaker, just be prepared to wait a while to have your order taken.
