Best tacos in all of Dallas...bar none. A family favorite that is in Oak Cliff. Discovered it a couple of year ago and now it's my spot.

This restaurant has a fun wrestling mask theme and serves Jalisco style food. There is a good selection of items, which are all made from scratch with quality ingredients. It was our first time visiting, so the owner kindly walked us through the menu. The veggie taco was rich, with lots of cheese, veggies and secret sauce. I loved the sauce with the cheese and wish it were more well distributed so I could enjoy the combo more. The cheese is too rich without it. The quesabirria was amazing - there is an option for shrimp, so we got one with shrimp and two with beef. I'm not usually a fan of shrimp but this one was cooked really well - highly recommend for shrimp fans. I really loved the beef - they use ny strip steak. It's well seasoned, very tender. And the perfect cheese to meat ratio. The consommé had a very light beef flavor compared to birria I've made at home and eaten at other places, so if you like to add lime it will overwhelm the flavor profile and mask the beef. Overall we were really happy with the location, selection and service. Can't wait to be back!! read more

Stopped by here on our way south from Dallas. This place is mainly known for two things, their authentic birria tacos as well as their ahogados tacos. We ended up ordering two quesabirria and one quesabirria taco with shrimp instead. All three were lovely. The consome was very light beef focused compared to other versions with blended chillies. I think I'd prefer some other places for the consome but the beef was perfectly cooked and of very high quality. The inside is filled with Luchador merch and has a lot on the history of the Luchador's. You can even buy an authentic mask if interested. The owner is very kind and happy to explain the menu and both English and Spanish as well as check-in with you throughout the meal making it a very easy place to come back again and again. read more

Fresh, diced tomatoes-we would've been happy with 2 servings! The chips were light, not heavily salted-great flavor! The taco platter was outstanding!! 6 different tacos-barbacoa, avocado, served on corn street tortillas. Loved each bite!! Margaritas, beer, soft drinks. The soup looked good but is very spicy. Where do I begin with Maskaras Mexican grill? The themed decor of traditional Mexican luchadores is so much fun, there is so much memorabilia and so much art all over the walls, figurines in different places and such a super cool vibe overall. The restaurant itself is pretty large and the Saturday afternoon we visited, there were a few groups of guys that look like they played for a baseball team and had gathered after a game so definitely a fun place to hang out with friends for sure. This is a place where you certainly go for the draw of the nostalgia of the decor but the food is nothing to take lightly at all. I got the San Juan style tacos which are four rolled flautas filled with deliciously seasoned shredded chicken and creamy mashed potatoes and let me just say that the contrast of the crunchy exterior with that creamy savory deliciousness was certainly mind-blowing. They come fully dressed, topped with guac or avocado, your choice, shredded cabbage for extra crunch and Mexican crema for some additional creaminess. My husband opted for the street tacos and they look delicious but I didn't try any of his because I was too busy devouring my food!! I tried all three of their salsas, none were too hot or overpowering at all but they all had really great flavor and just added even more to whatever dish you get. I can't wait to go back again and just eat my way through the menu, there are so many options and all of them sound absolutely delicious. The resturant is extremely clean, the food was delicious and was ready in no time. The woman at the front counter was extremely helpful, not pushy, and made me feel welcome. The woman who cleared the table of dirty dishes was also extremely nice and I was very much satisfied eating their traditional Mexican dishes. I will certainly be coming back. read more

Service is extremely slow it took45 minutes from the time we ordered to get chips and guacamole . After waiting 1 hour, the owner came out to advise us that they ran out of dish that we had ordered and we were asked to substitute for another dish. Food experience is average unfortunately the wait and running out of items mid day ruins the experience. Never returning to this place, poorly managed, extremely slow. I'm going to be honest nothing that we bought here was really any good. First of all they use store bought tortillas, they don't make their own tortillas. The carne asada tacos just lacked flavor and they were not memorable at all. The carnitas adobo were the same, just lacked. The rice and beans were lame as heck, again lacking flavor. I discovered this wonderful resturant, in 2020 . I enjoyed birria tacos with consommé. beef flour tacos and the chicken tacos . crunchy and made fresh. The French fries and very tasty too. I highly recommend this place as a very friendly family establishment. I will come back . read more

If you love Lucha Libre and Tacos, this is the perfect place for you. The décor is a refreshing departure from other Mexican restaurants and is excellently curated and entertaining. But the food is authentic and legitimately some of the best tacos in town, especially the birria. Keep in mind this is Guadalajaran, NOT tex-mex. Apparently they were featured in Tacos Chronicles on Netflix so there's a little hype but it's worth it! read more

Saw a YouTube short and it looked fantastic. Drove 45 minutes into the hood of Dallas expecting awesome tacos. First warning sign? Pepsi.... What kind of Mexican place serves Pepsi and not Coca Cola? I've never seen this before and I should have just left lol. Now the fajita tacos were really okay. Tortillas were not made in house and it was just fine. The queso was really good! I'd get that here. Maybe the quesadilla or the crispy birria tacos would be better? But they need to get the basics right. The service is excellent! Super friendly and helpful. This place may appear uninviting with its iron bars on the outside, but the owner is so sweet and welcoming. This grill is around the corner from my son's home, so we stopped by and had the fried fish. The fish was delicious and cooked beautifully. And when I used the restroom to wash my hands after the fish, I noticed how spic and span clean the bathroom was. Definitely deserves five stars!!! read more

The food at hole-in-the-wall restaurants is usually good, but this place has everything. The rice and beans at most places is an afterthought. The rice and beans here were wonderful. The doors and tacos were incredible. The burritos are enormous and flavorful. To top all of that off, the decor of the restaurant is SO FRIGGIN COOL!!! The luchador theme could have been ridiculous or terribly done, but I was in awe. The design of the restaurant makes you want to learn more and look at everything. The owner of the restaurant could not have been nicer. Not only did they explain the history of the food, but we're very patient and accommodating. We had such an amazing time. Just not great. We came here bc we've been looking for a good, nearby spot for Birria or Quesabirria tacos. This was on a few lists and nearby! The vibe inside is interesting. A little overboard and little sterile feeling, but you can tell they're putting in effort so maybe it's just not my vibe. I get that they're trying to stay on theme but the color scheme just isn't appetizing. As far as food - my wife actually really liked the Birria Tacos. They weren't my fav but the consomé was pretty good. Everything else was really disappointing. I got the carne asada tacos and they were just really unappetizing. I'm left two on the plate. They tasted kind of like cardboard. Maybe a little old? Tortillas too. Just tasted very plasticky - Idk how else to describe it - and the rice and beans tasted kind of like canned/packaged food. Asked for birrera no cheese and got cheese. They put the smallest sprinkle of cilantro and onion for 3 large tacos. Like Come on that wasn't enough for one taco... The burrito with Fajita was mid. I was craving birria tacos, so naturally I look on yelp for the best rated birria tacos in Dallas. I've already been to a few places that I really enjoyed, but I haven't found one that absolutely sticks. Upon walking in the restaurant, I felt I was transported into Mexico. It was so bright & colorful, and featured posters, memorabilia & different types of Masks (hence the name of the restaurant). The owner was handling the register and he was such a delight to talk to. He is originally from Guadalajara, MX therefore most of the menu is inspired by that. My fiancé had the fried fish (tilapia) & I tried the birria (one with white cheese & the other with cheddar cheese , as well as the shrimp taco with white cheese. Neither of us were disappointed! The food tasted authentic & very flavorful, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the tilapia. The cazuela drink is also a staple in Guadalajara & I highly recommend ordering that if you visit. Be warned it is served in a huge bowl, but it's honestly so good you will more than likely finish it. My only con was the consome was a bit on the salty side and I would have liked it to be a bit thicker (my preference). Other than that I will certainly be back! Service is a 10/10. read more

We ended up here yesterday before going to the costume store. It's Luche Libre themed. Mask decorations throughout the place. I got the birria tacos. My husband and son got quesadillas and daughter got a bean and cheese burrito. I'm like...why.. I can make y'all quesadillas at home!!! but okay. Critter control walked in and husband thought they were eating. So I think once he seen them coming in with a big stick and a ladder, he just ordered anything in a quick panic. My birria tacos were good. Full of flavor. I liked the consomme that went with it. My husband was too worried about the critter that they was trying to retrieve from the ceiling. All I could picture was a rat jumping from the hole and running into the dining room and my husband wigging out..lmao. I'm not sure what it was. We didn't stick around to find out. First of all, this is the coolest place, especially if you are a fan of Lucha Libre. It is filled with luchador masks. It's a really bright and fun place. The employees are patient and nice. They are totally social distancing, cleaning between guest, wearing masks. Now to what you really care about: the food! I had a classic street taco(carnitas). Extremely flavorful and juicy. I also had a beef birria taco. I don't know how they stay crispy, but they do. Yum! I got to taste the drunken taco, and I have no words. They have this margarita that comes ina bowl. It's so light that you will suck it down before you know it, and you will be light on your feet LOL. We also had the queso. It was good, but reminded me of Velvetta cheese. I mean it was good to me. My husband got the taco platter that had lime 7 street tacos. He thoroughly enjoyed it. The beans and rice are decent. I highly recommend this authentic Mexican restaurant. read more

Hidden gym of Oak Cliff! If you are looking for delicious Mexican (NOT Tex-Mex!) food in the area, look no further! My husband and I stumbled across Maskaras on our second night living in the area and have come back countless times. The staff are always friendly, the service is quick, and the food is delicious! We usually get the quesabirria tacos with birria broth and chips and guacamole. So incredibly good! This is the spot we always bring out of town guests. Already looking forward to our next visit!
