Ok so Yelp suggests that a good review touch on three main topics! Which is quite fitting for this situation tbh. Food - so let me start off by saying that sadly I have been here a few times and each time it's been a fail. However, this particular time we ordered a few tacos, menudo and guisó en salsa verde. Now the menudo was a bit bland and tasted like it had been reheated which was ok I suppose. But the real kicker is that the guiso had no flavor and looked a bit suspicious so I decided to take a loss and eat my beans which by the way I DO NOT generally like but as I went to make a bean taco there was a ROACH in it... yup a ROACH! When I brought it to the waitress's attention she took the dish and brought me another one! What in the world! No ma'am I do not care to eat more roach beans! Then she told what I think was the owner's daughter about what happened that girl looked at our table and made a face. The worst part is that the owner was there and you would think he would have come over to personally apologize but NOPE! That didn't happen he actually didn't even come near our table! IMO I would steer clear unless you ok with some dead roaches in your food. Service: I'm going to have to give them a 0 for service as today was a Sunday morning and I expect to be greeted with a smile if anything on a Sunday and that was not the case with the exception of what appeared to be a new employee. You mentioned why would I return if I didn't like it, well my spouse frequently dines at your establishment, and that is the reason we came here today and the only reason why I had been there those few times in the past. Despite me being willing to overlook the initial issue with my food and continue with my meal, the discovery of a roach made that impossible. Furthermore, the insect was embedded in the refried beans, yet your workers had the audacity to have another plate of beans brought to us. I ordered the caldo de Pollo (chicken soup) to go, to bring back to my toddler son who had just had a medical procedure done. The soup order itself comes with side of rice and tortillas as well. I was staying at a hotel about 5 minutes away but when I got back and opened the bag, we realized the plastic cover melted into the soup. I called the restaurant and told them what happened and they apologized and would make a new one for me. My husband drove back to the restaurant and picked another one up. In the new bag, they gave us another full order of soup (including the side of rice and tortilla even tho those items were fine initially) as well as a free empanada with an "I'm sorry" note. This is amazing customer service. The soup was amazing and tasty as well. My toddler son loved it. The soup is loaded with lots of carrots, potatoes and chicken. The owners are very friendly, warm and welcoming along with the great staff. We stumbled upon this restaurant one day and try to go at least once a week. The service is great! Rey the owner is super kind and makes the absolute best margaritas. The food is also so delicious! Flautas, quesadillas, tortas, spicy chicken, and the tacos are all a great choice. Always super clean and they typically have games on.
