This is a relatively new location. I've tried the one in HP and I've liked it, so when I saw this one I decided to stop by. They have great customer service!!! The lady helping us (I didn't catch her name) was so helpful and she pretty much let us try all the cakes before making a decision. We decided in cheesecakes and they were good, not the best but they were ok. Everyone was super nice and service was fairly fast. Very yummy. I love this place so much! However, for Mother's Day I ordered their chocolate covered strawberries and strawberry shortcake cake, both the strawberries and the cake were rotten and had an awful smell. The coffee was great during my visit (I always drink cafe de olla). Prices are a bit higher for the tortas and pastries. Despite the pastries not being so great the coffee is A+ for me. If you are a coffee person you will like this place. read more

My mom sent me to get her a pastry and a cafe de olla. I would give this place a 5 star review cause the cafe de olla is so good, but the service sucked! I think customer service is very important! I walked in it was dead, just 2 people sitting and 2 female workers. One of the workers just kept staring at me from the moment I walked through the door till I left. She made me feel very uncomfortable being there. She needs to be trained on customer service. Also I was not greeted at all when I walked in. The worker that helped me was very dull, semi nice but dull not happy to work. Where I work that is completely unacceptable, customer service is everything. I don't care if you hate your job or don't like a customer or whatever the case is, you are always supposed to have a positive attitude. I won't be returning here because of my experience. read more

This place is the bootleg version of Porto's/Northgate/Tierra Mia. I dont reccomend this place at all, its overpriced. A small dry slice of cake is 4.50. Look I dont mind high priced food plus most of my money goes to food and i dont let the cost influence how i feel about the food but damn 4.50. I've had slices of cake for 6 or 7 bucks but the slices are huge with 3 or 4 layers and are worth every cent. They need to review their cake recipe because they're; dry, flat, thin, plain, short, and simple. The frosting wasn't too sweet but its underflavored, if it's strawberry it should taste like strawberry not fckn cream with little pieces of strawberries in it. In that case call it strawberries and cream or vanilla with strawberries. If its mocha the whole cake should taste like mocha, the frosting shouldnt taste like chocolate. In that case just name it chocolate but looks mocha. I bought a slice of Dulce de Leche, Mexican Mocha, Strawberry, and Horchata. I think out of all the ones i tried the Horchata was better than the others because it wasn't dry like the others and the flavor was all right. I asked how they came up with the names like Mexican Mocha because like a dumbass i was thinking it probably had a kick ass ingredient and she shrugged and said that it was just a name, nothing special. No lie i felt disappointed. Not that i was asking for the recipe, just curious on the chosen name . Nothing original nor creative, very simple and plain. They need to put more effort into their food and the presentation. The design on the cups are very simple and boring, not that im going to eat the cups but there goes the pride, joy , and that shows how much thought you put into every aspesct of your business. Basically the cups look like something i would get at a gas station. The decoration of the cakes are very simple too, nothing that would make them stand out . They dont decorate them any other way unless, as the cashier said, want them all white. Idk who and why anyone wants a fckn dry white cake but ok. Customer service needs to improve not a hello, goodbye, thank you, nothing. I rather recommend people to go to Superior for a cake instead of this place and that already says alot. read more

The cafe de holla is the best. I normally have to add creamer and sugar to my regular coffee, but the cafe de holla is delicious without adding anything to it. If you want a small lunch, try the torts de mole, it's also delicious. read more

This is a wonderful bakery. Not only are the baked good delicious they are extremely generous with the community. La Monarca donated mini bolios to an event that raised money for a local teacher with cancer. If you have a choice, choose La Monarca. read more

I have been to several different Monarca locations. This is the first time I am eating food. Don't get me wrong the food was good, especially the salsa verde torta. This is probably one of my favorite bakeries ever. Their bread is really good and has great quality. I love their mini conchas and the custard filled pastry (not too sure of the name). The coffee are also pretty good, the horchata latte is one of my faves. The place is clean and the environment is so welcoming. I went today because I wanted to place an order on a cake and they have the best service. One of the employees (Anna Laura) was the sweetest! She didn't rush us or make us feel pressured when tasting the cakes. She made recommendations and was the absolute sweetest! Her authenticity and kindness was what really sold me on this place. BTW, the cakes are amazing! I wish I could order them all, but my favorite was the vanilla with fruit. Not too milky but also not too dry. Just right.
