    a variety of ice creams

This is one of our recently discovered favorite places to get mangonadas. There aren't any theatrical displays of gummy worms spilling over the cup. Before we used to go to Paleteria y Neveria which was closer to us but it was expensive for what it was, at around $8 for a small cup. Here at La Monarca Michoacana, you can get a mangonada especial for $5!! They also add a unique touch by adding some sort of candy, it reminds me of Vietnamese salted plum candy but much smaller. There's also plenty of parking outside which is a plus!

Mix fruit mangodada $3.50; it tastes spicy and sour, not the best taste..it was OK!

Why is that Houston is known for its Hispanics treating non-Hispanics differently? It's that some type of memo I wasn't notified of before moving back here? I mean, why do a paying customer gotta be treated less than the next paying customer based on their race and ethnicity?! I'm still trying to understand this. I just can't wrap my head around that. Why is that everything is premade here, plus they got about a hundred people working and they still slow as quick sand?! Man, seriously what's the hold up?! You say the mangonadas are the best and are delicious? Maybe that was an understatement..or your opinion was subjective because they were just OK with all that spicy mess and limey nonsense..with frozen fruit at the bottom. Nothing exciting or WOWing about that. I can't see how anything is ever fresh here. Everything is being pulled out of refrigerators already made and they working unsanitary here that means WITHOUT gloves and hairnets. The entrance door will make you feel as if you are entering a land of no return as it slams on your butt! The line is wrapped around the ice cream, so all that Staphylococcus is surrounded by body fumes and coughs..food absorbs it..good luck eating my poot. ;) Prejudice service, cheap prices, lots of stares, I will not be back. It's not worth feeling less than yourself.

Tamarindo Mangonada.. not good! Too sour too much chili

I heard lots of positive feedback from this place. Even had positive hopes for it too. So, I stopped by today. My co-worker told me the mangonada was amazing, but she was referring to Neveria y Taqueria el Quijote. I probably should've went by there instead. When my sister and I approach the building it was packed. It was a long line from the front of the line to the end near the 'loud, racket sound' door. (I do hope they get that fix). The products are NOT freshly prepared. The mangonadas are kept in a freezer already premade. (Who knows how many days ago). One of the fifty million staffs just takes one from the fridge and crushes it up with a fork to get it soften. Then they will add chili or lime to it. This place is PURE junk! Even the employees have a difficult time treating everyone equal. When my mangonadas was ready, instead of giving it to me in my hand like they did for others in front & behind me. The person who prepared it carried it to the register and demanded I pay now. Wtf??! Please do not waste you time & money on this poor quality mess. I ordered the mixed fruta & tamarindo mangonada. Both was loaded down with too much chili & lime. I couldn't taste the tamarindo at all. It was like I eating a $3.50 nightmare. Will I be back.. heck no! Will I recommend this place to other people.. hehe.. yeah when pigs fly. Go to Neveria y Taqueria el Quijote instead.

I absolutely love this place and their very cool staff! The variety of goodies at this place will most definitely have you coming back for more since it's pretty much impossible to try them all in one visit. The ice cream selection alone is impressive. I would highly recommend trying their Pinon flavor which has pine nuts. Their agua naturales are also super refreshing and instantly transport me to the streets of Nuevo Laredo. I mean, these people carefully line their nacho chips in such a uniformed way that ensures each one will be covered in cheese. If that's not love, I don't know what is. But seriously, do yourself a favor & check them out. While you're at it, go ahead and sign up for their rewards program, you won't regret it.

This is the cheese ice cream. Its surprisingly delicious!

I absolutely love this place. They have a wide variety of flavors and items to choose from and each very delicious. Even the cheese ice cream, which you would expect to have a strange taste is very good. Honestly you can pick anything from the menu and be satisfied with what you got. Also service was great.

Best paletas, elotes and fruta around. Me and my son stay coming over here to buy our cravings

Small banana split and cookies n' cream Paleta.

Popsicles (Paletas) are all homemade! The ice cream is homemade! They have just about every Hispanic-ized junk food you can think of! Corn in a cup, Hot Cheetoes with cheese, Aguas Frecas, Mangonadas, Esquimales, etc.! This place is super clean! The workers are so nice! And the prices range from $1.50 to $6.50, depending on what you what. ($6.50 for a large banana split). They do charge an extra .50 for using your credit card. But for me, personally, that's not a big deal. Definitely, you should check it out, if you're in the area!

Why isnt this place packed with people? Maybe like me, they dont know about it. I Just happened to stop in based off of a reccomendation regarding their fruit cups. First visit I tried a ice cream bar and elote. I was impressed! The ice cream bars are delicious, real ingredients (fruit, nuts, rice etc) mixed in. I loved the Rice pudding and pistachio. After sharing my newest discovery with co-workers, visit #2, they all agreed the ice cream bars, mangonadas and tamarindo agua were worth repeat visits. We all tried the elote (corn in a cup) and it was ok, but im spoiled with having roasted corn, not canned. It just had a little too much water mixing in with the mayo and cheese. Happy i found this place i will be coming back to try more ice cream, different flavors and try some of their other items.

    Strawberry & Banana ice cream

I love everything about this place. So good and close to home. They also offer other snacks like Chicharrones and Banana splits

    Nasty elotes

Came here to get elotes. Paid $14.50 for 4 cups. It was a waste of money. Not good at all. Wont come back.. I'd rather catch a food truck for some thats waaaaay better. Everything is very pricey for the little small sizes that you receive. They also charge you to use your credit/debit card. Don't bother, go somewhere else. Too bad I cant get a refund. Believe me, I asked.

Mangonadas were excellent but the elotes had a bit too much mayonnaise. Service somewhat slow but it is a small business.

Love the creativity and highly suggest sampling all of them They will typically have at least 1 non dairy options, but for all my lactose intolerant people out there, I found it super interesting that they also SELL LACTASE at the front checkout !! Never seen this before in my entire life and I feel that this is so helpful and also kind of funny

We were craving a late night dessert after leaving East River 9 so we stopped at milk + sugar…read more Overall, great service but not much to be impressed about. Side note you'll need a code to use their restroom. I ordered the split cup of Strawberry Almond Cheesecake and Dulce de Horchata. I felt that the portion could've been slightly more generous than below the rim of the cup, but I suppose the price is reasonable. I guess it's hit or miss like at Marble Slab. The cheesecake flavor was okay not overpowering, which I would've preferred more than the almond and strawberry. I think I wasn't impressed with it because the server scooped more of the graham crust than ice cream. I'm pretty sure that's another reason I didn't particularly care for their cheesecake. The horchata was nice with hints of cinnamon and with the split cup made it taste even better.
