We've been waiting for this place to open and so glad it finally did! Went for dinner and tried a few fried empanadas (that came with chimichurri and were super tasty) along with the provoleta (which was delish and a far larger portion of cheese than two people can take down!). For the mains we had the chicken milanesa napolitana and steak milanesa a caballo. Both were very generous portions accompanied by hand cut fries. All so good and walked out with leftovers. My sister ordered a Clásico panini and one beef empanada. I ordered a Veggie skillet, one chicken empanada, and alfajor. We paid almost $30. It's such an unsuspecting location. It makes sense though that it's right in the middle of a neighborhood as if you just were walking on over to someone's house. We met up for brunch, and it felt like the perfect spot. It was cozy and we got to get started on our BYOB bubblies. We each tried an empanada that was delicious. I had the shrimp one and it was very flavorful. I had the special sandwich and it was also very filling and good. We all split the tiramisu which was incredible. Other highlights: - the coffee! nice and strong - the pastafrolas are a delicious little jam pastry to enjoy with their coffee - the chimichurri sauce that comes with the empanadas and on some of the potatoes - the surprising amount of vegetarian options! I am very surprised I did not know of this place sooner! The inside is beautifully decorated with wood and hanging lights. I ordered a black bean burger with sweet potato fries which was super good, I just wasn't a fan of the paper getting suck to my sandwich and the small tray it was served on, my food kept falling off. I went during lunchtime in the week and there was barely anyone there. I can't accurately attest to how authentically Argentine their food is because I haven't try their steak, but I was surprised they were serving burgers. Absolutely love this hidden gem! I spent a great part of the summer going there at least once a week for lunch and I must say my absolute favorite dish is the "Choripan sandwich". This was just my favorite however the other dishes I've had have also been great.... I had the chicken sandwich, pizzas, their empanadas. The Choripan is just succulent... from the bread to the sausage and the chimichurri sauce are perfect. During the pandemic, everyone working there has a mask and seems like they are taking their precautions to keep everyone safe. I don't like writing bad reviews because I know that sometimes restaurants just have off days. But after our experience here, I just cannot recommend La Nonna. I went for dinner with a group of family members here because it had great ratings and sounded like a cool combination of flavors. We came towards the end of the dinner rush, so we got lucky and grabbed a small table in the front. We then proceeded to wait about 20-25 min for a waiter to come to us. I know they were busy, but we didn't even get water until I had to go up and grab one of the servers to get them to come to our table. We finally put our order in for empanadas and main courses. We then had to wait almost an hour for the empanadas, followed by ANOTHER 30-35 min for food. So we wound up spending about 3 hours at dinner, of which over 2 hours was just waiting. I get that restaurants are busy and sometimes mistakes happen. But I just don't expect to go to dinner at 7 and be there almost until closing. The food itself was good, but I would warn future eaters that the kitchen can get overwhelmed, even when there are only a few diners.
