I already had a big meal but i wanted to come in to try the empanadas combo chicken/beef and they were delicious. The staff here is friendly and smiling! The lady at the counter recommended to try the passion fruit drink which i'm glad she did. They have nice art work and plenty of seating inside. This is located not in the food court but inside on the side in the back, weird location. I will definitely be back here to try the hot dogs which i saw a lot of people ordering. Very unique food! Shop is very clean and service is nice. Came here one day for lunch because we started getting hungry while shopping. This restaurant just opened and I've never seen it before so it decided to give it a try. I've traveled all through South America before and I absolutely love South American food. The nice staffer at the front gave us recommendations so we order one of the combos and another side item to share. The food was delicious, the only thing was a portion size was not very big, especially for the price. Service was fast and efficient, the restaurants very clean. Also, it's separate from the food court so you can get some peace and quiet while dining. Overall, very nice experience. read more

I stumbled upon this restaurant while in the mall and decided to pick some of their food to try. The gentleman at the cashier was very helpful. I ordered the ajiaco and pan de yuca, and both were absolutely delicious. There was a bit of a wait for what I ordered, but I was forewarned. I've followed them via social media and targeted a visit. Unfortunately, it was the worst meal Ive had since I ate in a Medford, Oregon diner back in 2019. Let me be clear, even Colombia's renowned chef Juan Manuel Barrientos could not run a successful Colombian restaurant at this location since I'm sure rent is Uber expensive inside the Brea Mall and it'll be impossible to obtain a liquor license. I went on a Saturday afternoon and they were out of the first three items I attempted to order. I ordered 6 different items on the menu including small sides and desserts. It was inedible. Thumbs down given by all family members on the taste. A few things to consider: My parents are Colombian and I've lived in SoCal for 3 decades. We used to eat at La Fonda Antioqueña monthly in the late 80's-90's. We have supported all Colombian restaurants in SoCal over the years but most fall short. Located in the Brea mall to the right of Macys! I definitely recommend this little restaurant. My Colombian boyfriend said that this is a piece of home. The Perro Callejero is absolutely delicious. A loaded hotdog paired with excellent sauces and crispy chips. Each bite is filled with flavors. They also have many types of Colombian sodas and natural juices. Our favorites are the Pony Malta! We drove out from Downey because we LOVE Colombian hot dogs. There are other Colombian restaurants around, but it's more rare to find the street food they sell here. My husband and I both got perros and shared the arepa bites. 10/10 recommend! The staff was very friendly and were happy to answer people's questions that weren't sure about menu items. The inside of the place is really well-designed. It is next to the food court, but it it's own little restaurant with its own seating. I was in San Diego and quite literally had the best Colombian food and thought I'd try this spot here in Brea. I was sadly disappointed- the arepa was hard as a hockey puck and when I told them he said they are made in the morning - um that's unacceptable! My plantains were not properly fried, the chicharron lacked flavor. This was not worth $20 - the food was incredibly underwhelming and the service was subpar. I guess I shouldn't expect too much from mall food but then again I shouldn't expect to pay almost $90 for three plates and a tip for no service. read more

I went to the Brea Mall with my wife and found this Colombia restaurant near the food court. Since my wife is Colombian we wanted to try it. First, the restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated with contemporary wall art. The restaurant was not crowded despite being a little small, perhaps 6 tables. You walk to the counter to order your food and the counter person was extremely helpful and friendly in explaining the menu. I ordered the Arepa loca with a side order of beans. The dish was an arepa cut in half and inside was a mixture of corn, lettuce, cheese, shredded chicken and chorizo. The beans were kidney beans. My dish was served in a takeout container and overall well seasoned. My wife's dish was a boquiabierta, a sort of taco served with an arepa and filled with shredded beef, lettuce, and cheese. Both plates were fresh and well seasoned and came with a half dozen salsa...very uniquely different. I enjoyed the overall experience but I definitely would like to try different menu items. read more

K stopped by this place yesterday and I was surprised to see it was pretty packed. But then again, it was a Saturday, and there are only so many tables...but let's start by saying that the service was really nice. The owner (I believe he was the owner?) was a very nice gentleman who explained every dish I asked for (and even the one I didn't pretty well. The food is a different story though... So I'm not Colombian. Not even close. I did however, lived MANY years of my life in New York and have been a few times to Colombia to know a bit about Colombian gastronomy, and I am almost positive that nowhere that I remember eating a Bandeja Paisa, did anybody substitute the steak for ground beef. Some might claim this is a 'street food' version of it, and I get it, but then, write a disclaimer type blurb of your menu: 'this is OUR TAKE ON...'. Again, I am not Colombian but I have gone and eaten more times that I can count that my Dr would blow a gasket if he knew I attempted to eat Chicharron the way Colombians make it in their Bandejas Paisas....and trust me when I say, I've eaten this in Medellin, and it did not taste the same. And lf course, you can't expect something to taste so authentic in California, again, I get it, but then there is the other problem: what they called 'arepa' was in no way shape or even FORM an arepa made with the right masa. This was a basic tortilla, flat as a tortilla can be somehow dipped in oil. Masarepa is grainy, and that is the one MAJOR difference between a regular tortilla and an arepa: the texture. This was NOT. The fríjoles, which I don't remember them being made with DARK RED KIDNEY BEANS, did taste ok, but again, not close to any other ones I had tasted, but the rice they served was UNDERCOOKED. Like, not cooked at all. It's like the cup needed 20 minutes to soften and they only gave them 10. I threw the entire thing cause by the time we were done, the gentleman was nowhere to be seen (last my boyfriend saw him he was outside talking to a lady, then, we didnt see him again). My bf's experience was different, he actually loved his hot dog, which I wished I would've asked for instead of wasting $20 of my hard earned money on that bandeja cause I simply didn't like it. Ordered 2 different Arepas and they were very hard, too hard to even cut. The Chicharron was a SIN* it was old and rock hard, I told the cook that it should have never made it out of the kitchen. Wouldn't think much about a restaurant located in a mall but this Colombian restaurant is the exception. Great customer service and the food was made to order. I was so excited to try the Colombian restaurant in La Brea mall but it was a sad experience. We order meat empanadas and they have more potatoes than meat. Also, we ordered a bandeja paisa and the food was awful. the flavor was like food hit in the microwave. The meat was salty, the plantains tasted like plastic, You can imagine the flavor of the chicharron hit in a micro way. The only real flavor was the fried egg on top of the rice.
