Beets carpaccio
Kristen G.

While I thought the food here was good, the service and ambiance was just ok. The beets carpaccio was very tasty and fresh and the calamari, shrimp and zucchini were light and crispy. While the restaurant wasn't very busy it seemed that our appetizers took forever and we weren't checked on or given water refills. The wine selection wasn't the best either which was disappointing. I think the most disappointing thing was that as we were getting the check they were taking all the table clothes off and that showed such a lack of hospitality!

Went on Christmas Eve. Place was packed and a little louder than usually would be. Loved that you could order from the regular menu and bit a special holiday one. We both had a soup to start. I had the stracciatella and my wife had the pasta e fagioli. Both were in big bowls and were wonderful. My main course meal was the tagliatelle nere all a pescatore and wife had a special, the Flounder Amalfi. Both were big servings and wonderful. Both were a meal the next night. For a packed house, the service could not have been better. Experienced waitstaff met all of our needs and we never felt rushed. Just a wonderful experience. Our 6th time here and will be back

Wow! Authentic, delicious and beautiful food! The food and the vibe are second to none for an authentic Italian experience! Only a couple waiters who were stretched thin and making the best of it

Nutella lava cake

Tireless hospitality, fresh pasta, and outstanding desserts made my experience at La Perla an objective five stars. The Old World ambiance and attentive, gracious service set the tone. While I do wish their wines by the glass were fruitier and less acidic, the fresh caprese starter was the first hit of the night. Liquid burrata, and with a perfect ratio of greens to tomato to cheese. For my main, I went with the pappardelle with porcini mushroom cream sauce. I do wish the noodles had been firmer. I sampled my friend's gnocchi bolognese and its consistency was better: firmer and with more bite. When they rolled out the dessert cart it was already obvious that we had to try it. I could have eaten that fluffy, moist, creamy tiramisu in 90 seconds. The Nutella lava cake, served with ice cream, raspberry, and a gorgeous dusting of powdered sugar, coated my tongue with chocolate and Nutella spread. It was so balanced.

Amazing Wine Selection. Cab Franc, Luisa.

Cozy italian place! Loved our waiter and waitress, the food was so fresh and their wine selection was great!

This place is super worthy of the five star reviews! It's definitely a hidden gem in the area. Parking was tricky to find, you park behind the building, turn on the street before the building. Our server was amazing and took care of us all night long. We ordered a variety of items, including a seafood appetizer with red sauce, gnocchi burrata, and the flounder. The highlight was the gnocchi burrata, I wish I would've gotten two. The flounder was the only item that wasn't that great which was a little disappointing because it was the special. Everything was priced at a good price point. This would definitely be a restaurant for a special occasion especially because this wait staff takes great care of you.

Lobster ravioli

I rarely leave reviews anymore but felt compelled to after dining here. Yelp did not disappoint. Maybe the best lobster ravioli I've ever had. The pepper cream sauce had saffron and was clearly cooked with a lobster stock. Amazing. The pasta also tasted homemade like they claim. The filling was a healthy amount of ricotta and lobster. I will definitely return here when I visit again in the future. Service was also great too.

Best Italian food in all of south Florida! Quality food and ingredients with tons of homemade pastas and entrees. Service is always outstanding and the ambiance is like being in grandmas house. Truly an awesome experience and very time!

Octopus appetizer

This place has it all-- great homemade pasta, service, and ambiance. We came here to celebrate a person in our family and, La Perla Di Pompano did not disappoint! Having read all the wonderful Yelp reviews, I knew to make a reservation in advance. We parked in the back, and when we entered, we were warmly greeted and taken to our table. The restaurant is small with artwork of pretty flowers on the walls. The tables have individual lights and white linens. La Perla was busy and a tad loud, but the service was phenomenal. Our waitress told us about all the specials and was very attentive. Our waitress brought over a lovely bread basket filled with deliciously, seasoned breadsticks and slices of fresh cut bread. They bake their own bread, and it was absolutely fantastic. We cleared out the basket and they offered more, but we didn't want to be too full for when our entrées came. They had a special octopus appetizer. It came in a small cast-iron pan and had chunks of deliciously grilled octopus, along with potatoes, capers, and tomatoes. We devoured it right away, it was so good. My daughter opted for the Pollo Alla Tuscano, and my husband had their homemade pasta with clams. They were very pleased with their meals. I find it rare to see black squid ink pasta on menus these days., so when my husband pointed it out on the menu, I knew what I had to have. It came with a delicious red sauce and was chock full of mussels, clams, calamari, and large shrimp. It was fantastic, and I had more than enough to take home for a second meal the next day. While we did not order dessert, I did see samples of their desserts on a cart. They looked quite enticing! Our waitress knew we were celebrating a dessert, and she brought to our table a lovely custard-filled pastry drizzled with chocolate sauce. It was so good. Next time we go here, we will have to save room to share one of their desserts. La Perla is a small little gem of a restaurant. It's very authentically Italian and so nice to have in the neighborhood. They truly made a birthday celebration even better!

Alfredo with shrimp and broccoli
Dalia H.

Really nice and intimate restaurant. It's seems to be pretty authentic Italian food. We had the calamari, which was really good. I couldn't find anything on the menu to interest me and I was craving Alfredo, so I just asked them to make me an Alfredo pasta with shrimp and broccoli and they didn't disappoint! Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. Service was great too.

If you're looking for a classic Italian Bistro, this is it. Great homemade food, they even bring out every dish as it's ready instead of waiting as it should be. I had the Tagliatelle Pescatore in real squid ink, hard to find that nowadays. Great night out. Good wine as well.

Sea Mario has been bookmarked on my Yelp for over a year. While trying to make some Valentine's…read moreplans, my husband asked where I wanted to go, and I immediately thought of this restaurant. Even a few weeks in advance, Valentine's Day was already booked, so we made a reservation for Valentine's eve. This is not a restaurant I would come to without a reservation because I saw people get turned away. Located in an unassuming little strip mall, you would never know that there is a sparkling gem of a place tucked in the middle of the shops. Parking can be a little tricky, but we were able to snag a spot in front. Inside, this quaint restaurant has such welcoming decor in black-and-white with some accent colors. There are lots of little knickknacks and decorations from Italy. When we entered, we were greeted by one of the owners, Nadia. We had a short wait before our table was ready. When seated, Nadia went over all the specials and answered our questions regarding her recommendations on the menu. Her husband, Mario, also assists with serving. He also greeted us later during our dinner to check in about our meal. Now let's get to the heart of this review...the food. As someone with Sicilian heritage, I have been fortunate to visit Italy and have had some pretty amazing fresh seafood and pasta dishes there. And of course, I've had wonderful Italian restaurant experiences here as well. But I have to say, Sea Mario tops the list. Before I discuss the food menu, I just want to point out they have an extensive wine list. The menu offers several selections whether one is vegetarian, wants steak/lamb instead of pasta, or has come here for the dishes 'di mare.' We started off with an appetizer. Arancini rice balls with mushrooms and cheese. The Arancini balls flanked a bowl of stracciatella cheese. This was a special appetizer not on the regular menu. It was fantastic and dare I say luxurious? (Please put in on the regular menu!) For our main courses, my husband had the Fettuccini Florida Golden Crab & Scallops. It was Caribbean Italian fusion inspired with a flavorful, but not (hot) spicy, pasta sauce. I opted for the Maine Lobster Catalana. I have had my share of seafood pasta dishes throughout my life, but when this entree was placed in front of me, the aroma was so fragrant that I knew I was in for something special. The pasta sauce was made with high-quality tomatoes and caramelized onions (which I think really aided this sauce and made it different). The dish had clams and, of course, succulent lobster tail and the claw meat. The lovely aroma was not a tease because the dish tasted excellent. If having freshly made pasta with lobster sounds appealing to you, this is the dish to get. (They make their own pasta and the seafood is very fresh.) We ended our meal by sharing a fresh cannoli. The shell was not hard like a typical cannoli, rather it had the consistency of a doughnut. The ricotta filling with pistachio was absolutely out of this world. The plate was beautifully decorated with a berry drizzle in the shape of a seahorse. As you can tell, I'm pretty smitten with Sea Mario. I definitely want to return to this romantic restaurant for our anniversary later this year. Thank you for the incredible service and dishes.

I tried to book online for 6:30, but couldn't, so called, and was told there's on table of two. Now the food: We had a lobster bisque, with a cream and light. Tomato taste, and some real lobster. Excellent. Mussels were large, and a bit gamey, nice light sauce. good. Had a sausage, finely cut up, and made with a pan fried topping and cheese and nice red sauce. Good I wanted pasta and garlic oil and butter. Also wanted veal and eggplant parmigiana . Neither on the menu. And no can have. Had a cannoli to go. Excellent wine menu. Two of us about $100. I'll come back because nice atmosphere

Di Farina - A True Hidden Gem!…read more Visited Di Farina for a company dinner tonight, and I am so glad I did! This is one of those hidden gems you almost don't want to share, just so there's always a table waiting for you. We started with a spread of appetizers: grilled octopus, garlic shrimp, fried burrata with arugula, and perfectly layered potatoes topped with braised short rib and fonduta. Every single dish was incredible--I honestly can't pick a favorite, though the short ribs stole my heart. For mains, I had the osso buco with pappardelle (their pastas are all freshly made in-house, and you can taste the difference). Our table also enjoyed the branzino, which was deboned tableside, the massive squid ink seafood linguini (so loaded with seafood you could barely see the pasta), and a rich, creamy carbonara that was perfectly balanced. Desserts were the perfect finale: tiramisu, cheesecake, and a refreshing lemon sorbetto, each as good as the last. The service was flawless, and the entire staff is Italian, adding to the authentic charm of the experience. Di Farina has officially become my new go-to spot for Italian nights. 10/10 on food, service, and atmosphere--can't wait to return!

It looks great and I thought it looked better and different somehow from what I saw online. We got there early so they were not busy. The bread was served warm with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I liked that combination. Our entrees came out pretty fast. Maybe 12 to 15 minutes after we ordered. This makes me think the food is not freshly made. I would be happier waiting for my food. I ordered the penne alla gigi. The portion was huge!!! The flavor tasted really off. I absolutely love Italian food and am usually pretty forgiving if the food is not "amazing" The sauce was not good on this dish. I have never tasted anything like it.. The pancetta did not have much flavor. I sampled the chicken parmigiana and the spaghetti. The chicken parmesan was pretty good. It was cheesy. The sauce for the spaghetti was mediocre. I forgot to mention both dishes came out really hot which was appreciated. I ordered the limoncello cake and this was phenomenal. I thought it looked too yellow when it was placed in front of me. The taste was so delicious. It was not overly sweet, just perfect. I loved the whipped cream. My friend ordered the Ice Cream Sunday which is vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. I sampled this too and it was ok, nothing special. Without the excellent service, views and just beauty of the restaurant this would have been 2 stars. My visit ended on the right note with the limoncello cake. In reality, I just wanted a delicious meal. I did not receive that and I did leave mostly disappointed. :(
