My new favorite restaurant, they are amazing. I got the red rapper dish, you get so much food for your money. Totally worth it!!!!!

I've been here several times and I've tried several of the dishes. Ive tried the red snapper, and the jerk half chicken. I've also tried the lobster Mac and cheese appetizer. They all were really tasty. The chef knows how to cook. One suggestion for La Perle would be to print the menus on nicer paper and place inside of a booklet. Presentation is everything. I also think they should consider lowering their prices. One of the Peruvian restaurants up the street on West Park sells a half chicken for 13 bucks. La Perle sells a half chicken for double the price. These are the restaurants in the general vicinity that La Perle is competing with. With all this said, La Perle is a much needed addition to the Stamford area. read more

Great atmosphere, service, food and drinks. I've gone a few times and every time is spectacular. The food is authentic and seasoned to perfection. Almost didn't go in because the place looked empty from the window. So glad we decided to go in. Turned out there were half a dozen tables filled -just couldn't see them from the street. The service was outstanding and the food just as good. The Jerk chicken (1/2 chicken!) was moist and very flavorful. It came with generous portion of rice and beans, plantain and veggies. I took half home. My husband had ribs. He ate every bite. We had chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert. Cake was very rich and had a mousse like filling. Loved every bite! Went for lunch with 2 coworkers earlier today. There was a couple waiting to be seated as we approached the restaurant, but no other customers present. There was an employee at the bar who told us where to sit and shortly after he provided the menus and took our orders about 5 minutes later. He came back with 3 cups of water but didn't bother to ask if we wanted additional beverages. We waited patiently for our meals. AN HOUR WENT BY... I couldn't find the employee and we considered walking out but figured we'd wait for him. He came out and told us the food would be right out. Another 15 minutes passed until he came out, without apologizing for the wait. I ordered the Griyo and it had ZERO flavor, just overly salty. The service was subpar, there literally looked to be 2 employees in the entire restaurant and the food was bland. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Food was decent. Server was very friendly but the order took forever when the place was totally empty. Doesn't seem as nice in person as the pictures online suggest imo. Went a little after the posted opening time on a Saturday, was told the lunch menu is different than what's online, so they didn't make what I even came for. Place was open for about an hour and the chef just showed up 10 minutes after we ordered. Probably why it took forever. Seemed closed. read more

I recently dined at at La Perle over the weekend with a couple of friends. This was our first time dining at this restaurant and having Haitian food and I have to say, we were absolutely blown away by this food and the service. It was a wonderful experience being able to enjoy a night out trying new things with friends again and La Perle knocked it out the park. read more

Growing pains I suppose. I went for a lunch on a Tuesday. They have a hard we don't open before 12 pm rule, forcing me to stand outside. The server/hostess felt a bit uninterested in us. The water mark on the paper menu blocked a number of the items. The food was ok. I recommend the ox tail, as the fried goat was a bit dry. Hoping they can get it together. read more

Went in last night (friday night) with a reservation that was made for 8pm for a friends graduation dinner. First red flag was that not a single person was inside the restaurant except for the people working of course. We waited to be seated a few minutes as they didnt even have a table ready for us and we got to the restaurant late, you would think they would have had this set up since there was a reservation already made and as stated there was not a single person inside. Once seated we received our drink menus and food menus and the waitress did not come back to even take a drink order for about 15 to 20 minutes. We placed our drink orders and food orders in at the same time and didnt even receive our drinks for 30 minutes of us sitting down and received our appetizers with the drinks so we were already unpleased. To top it off the drinks also did not taste like they had any alcohol in them but were just juice. Someone in our party also asked for a red stripe and received budlight instead. One of the people in our party ordered wings and asked specifically for only flats but only received one flat the rest were all drums. Two people in our party also asked for henny coladas and what they received was not what they expected. The customer service here and food was just not worth it. The manager/ owner said he would take 20% off of our bill and it was an automatic 20% gratuity when the server did not do her job and was highly unpleasant. No one was satisfied with anything we received that we even cancelled our main dishes and ended up leaving to eat elsewhere. My husband and I visited La Perle last month for the FIRST time. We were thoroughly impressed with the ambiance, the service and most importantly the savory Caribbean cuisine. The kompa in the background was delightful; a sweet touch that we never get at restaurants in Long Island, NY. From jerk chicken and griot flat breads, lobster Mac and cheese and my grilled shrimp avocado salad was amazing - it was large enough for two. We were so delighted we told the GM Suzanne and she brought out the Chef who was humbled by our compliments and the owners! We promised we would be back...Fast forward to yesterday! We made a reservation for 10! Had to share our new favorite Haitian restaurant with our family!!! Fried Lambi/Conch was a hit!!! Fried red snapper too! Best ginger beer ever! And our server was the sweetest! She knew every single Haitian dish by name (she was not Haitian)and offered us suggestions. Kind, sweet, funny and very knowledgeable of Caribbean cuisine. We all left with our bellies full and satisfied...and yes Chef Smith came out to greet us and our entire family before we ate and after; and it was a busy night! Private parties were taking place, and the main dining area was packed! He thanked us for keeping our promise and coming back. We are hoping to return again soon. So proud and happy to support a Haitian owned establishment. We will continue to spread the word! La Perle is #1 in our eyes and we look forward to our next visit. read more

I am from Boston and was visiting the Stamford, CT area for the weekend. I noticed that there was a Haitian restaurant named La Perle right downtown which I immediately got excited. The restaurant is very beautiful and the ambiance equally amazing. The staff were very kind, friendly, attentive and pleasant . La Perle is very over-priced and the portion sizes are small. If you are hungry and looking to get full on a meal please think twice before going to this restaurant. I had dinner with a friend and the bill was over $75 which included a cocktail & beer. The food and drink menu's are very limited too. The price for 2 meals at a similar restaurant in Boston would cost less than $40 which includes an abundance of rice, fried plantains as well as a side salad. La Perle does offer warm rolls but that is not enough for the price you are paying for your meals. I would definitely visit the establishment again if they make a few changes otherwise there are so many other restaurants in that area that you will find reasonably priced meals and be satisfied. read more
