Jerk chicken

My go to place when I'm in the Stamford area. Comfortable but upscale ambiance and the food is always amazing. I can't seem to order anything else but the jerk chicken plate and cheesecake because they're just that good!

I so wanted to love this place. After looking at the menu, I knew my girlfriend would really like this place, especially because they have oxtail which is an item I have been searching for quite some time. I checked the rest of the menu to see if there was something I might like, finding something I decided to give them a try. As soon as you walk in the restaurant is beautiful, you literally feel like you are walking into a high end hotel lobby. The bar area and lounge are really nice with a gas fire place as well. The dining area is very nicely lit and with plenty of space between you and the next table. I did not get a chance to visit but the se one floor looked like private dining rooms for groups to use-it looked really nice. The staff was quick to take care of you and did their best to give you a good experience. The unfortunate part of the experience was the food did not meet the expectations of everything else we experienced. We first ordered the sweet plantains wrapped in bacon, they unfortunately were not too memorable. They say bacon makes everything better but I just didn't get it. The bacon did not do anything for the appetizer. For our entrees my girlfriend had the oxtail which was served over rice. My girlfriend absolutely loved it, she send it was tender and flavorful, I am glad she loved it because essentially this was the reason why we were there. My order was the mango flavored bbq ribs. It was served with a slaw and French fries. The highlight of the dish was the slaw. It was crisp, fresh and had a bit of a bite which made all the tastebuds tingle. Unfortunately, my ribs were covered in the mango barbecue sauce which was way too heavy handed. On top of the sauce was the fact the ribs were overcooked hence making them very dry. They were flavorful but not tender and fall of the bone. The portions were quite generous which is a plus. Overall the rating is average because although the restaurant is really nice (decor and service) the meal was average.

Chicken & Waffle

First time trying their food, and it wasn't good. Specifically, I had the chicken and waffles. Pretty straightforward but the taste was simply not there. Furthermore, the waffles were tampered with as it wasn't plain buttermilk batter. It tasted as though there were cinnamon and sugar specs and was not fully cooked. Super overpriced menu as well....wouldn't recommend.

This place was amazing! I would definitely recommend. The atmosphere is nice but also casual. The waitress was so nice and the service was top notch. 20% gratuity was included but we added in a little extra on top of that. The food was so good! The coconut shrimp dip was delicious. The coconut flavor wasn't super strong, but my wife isn't a huge fan of coconut so it was perfect! We weren't expecting it to be so cheesy but that was a pleasant surprise! The drinks are strong and delicious. I got the Pearle Runner and one drink was good enough for me. I slept well that night lol. The oxtail pasta was delicious! Very rich in flavor and the oxtail was super tender and without an ounce of fat. Let it cool a bit to really enjoy the full flavor. The vegetarian stew with shrimp was delicious too! It came with tostones, and a side of rice and beans. It was delicious! We got the bread pudding for dessert. It was the perfect choice because we were so full but it was light enough for us both to share. Overall, great choice and we hope to come back.

This review is based on my personal experience and is not in partnership with La Perle. Atmosphere: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Food: 5 stars As a fellow Haitian, I believe the cultural atmosphere was embodied to the FULLEST! The food was impeccable as well as the service in which it was received. I highly recommend attending this restaurant because of the authenticity they have placed in everything "La Pearle" stands for. The portions of the food are also HUGE so make sure to bring your appetite. *Forgot to take a picture of the marinade(fritters), Accra, and the Mac and cheese, but all were amazing!

Bar area

Fantastic food, generous portions, great ambiance, solid customer service (most of the times). I debated between 4 or 5 stars because there's one thing that always grates on my nerves. I've ordered from here at least 3 times. So the thing is, you can only order over the phone for pickup, and the person taking the orders does not even know creole. I, myself, do not, but I know some words and the menu has them. This made ordering awkward as they knew the food only by descriptions, and I struggled trying to get them to understand their own menu and describe food to them. Then, pickup time comes and the food is usually late. I always usually wait quite sometime, too. This would be OK, but then they always seem to mess up one item of mine. That's frustrating as their prices as on the higher end, and so you want the food you ordered. Regardless, the Mac and cheese is to die for, the Caribbean Caesar salad is an absolute winner, and their bacon wrapped plantain are also fantastic. Black rice is always a hit, and I will never complain about their food as it's cooked impeccably, bursting with flavor, and very unique among Stanford's offerings. I'd definitely recommend stopping in! Parking can be difficult as it's in Bank Street, but not impossible.

Red Snapper

I have been here a few times and the chief and the service is A+++. Food is hot and fresh every-time. It's the size of the Red snapper for me.

No longer my go to. The fried snapper was salty and taste like it was a day old. I guess inflation has gotten to them.

I've been here three times. This place for sure shines with the ambiance and the appetizers. I'm all for supporting black owned business, especially Haitian owned businesses and I'm so happy that there's a sit down place to enjoy Haitian food. I've always wanted to have my friends try Haitian food and this place we can enjoy the ambiance, the music, and good food. The food is flavorful and has the spices and spicy was that I like and am used to. There are options that are not necessarily Haitian cuisine but have a Haitian twist on it. If you're looking for good Haitian food and ambiance give this place a visit.

Came here on our lunch break and ended up staying a little longer just chatting with the owner,…read moreScottie. He told us he's been here for 20+ years, and you can really feel the passion he has for what he does. We tried the chicken and it was fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. It honestly tasted like something made with care, not rushed. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving something good and comforting. Way better than the cafe food in the hospital.. worth the short trip.

I recently ordered food for delivery from Scotty's Fish and Chips, and unfortunately, my experience…read morewas far from satisfactory. When the delivery arrived, I was shocked to find that I received a completely different order--yet the bag had my name on it. I called the restaurant to sort things out, hoping for a simple solution. However, the gentleman who answered was not only unhelpful but downright rude. He seemed completely unconcerned about the mix-up and offered no accountability or resolution. It was frustrating to feel dismissed and treated like my concerns didn't matter. I understand that mistakes happen, but the lack of customer service compounded my disappointment. I initially wanted to enjoy the meal I had ordered, so receiving something entirely different was disheartening enough, but the "oh well" attitude from the staff made it even worse. I won't be ordering from here. Good food is important, but customer service is just as crucial. Disappointing experience all around.

I came here after placing my order over the phone because this was the only restaurant in my area…read morethat had mofongo. Once I arrived, I was immediately greeted by the hostess/server. The inside of the restaurant is decently sized, clean, and even has a space where you can host a DJ, which is a nice touch. There was a slight language barrier, but it wasn't a big issue. I waited about 5-10 minutes for my to-go order since the hostess/server was the only one working outside of the kitchen staff. I ordered the MOFONGO MIXTO (Mixed Mofongo), which is crispy green plantains mashed with garlic and olive oil, paired with chicharrón, chicken, or cheese. It was solid--rich, tasty, and especially delicious with the salsa blanco, which was creamy and garlicky. That sauce was a first for me, and I loved it! While I've had mofongo that included rice and beans elsewhere, this version stood on its own nicely. A couple of notes: parking is a bit challenging, and I'd recommend placing your order through an app to help navigate any potential language barriers. Overall, a good experience, and I'd definitely give it another shot!

This is a brand new restaurant and bar that is conveniently located close to the Stamford train…read morestation. It is a family run establishment and having just opened, the place is super clean and super modern. There is a good amount of seating, so they can accommodate a large group easily. They are open late and on certain days, they have a DJ and the place turns into a club. The food was extremely fresh and is home cooked style. The chivo guisado was extremely juicy and the meat was so tender - falling off the bone. The pico pollo was great too and very well seasoned. Portions sizes were generous with very reasonable prices too. The staff are very friendly too. It's a nice place to come and enjoy some authentic Dominican food with some bottles of Presidente or cocktails. I recommend giving them a try. You will not be disappointed.
