    Ceviche menu

This is a tough review because some aspects were 4 stars but after 24 hour reflection I just can't give it 4. We started with a special shrimp ceviche that was spicy and in the top 3 ceviches we ever had. The name escapes me but is in my pictures and pictures of the menu. I also ordered a crab empanada and it was good but I waited an awfully long time for it and it was barely warm so I am guessing it sat for a long time. What was supposed to be the star of the meal, fresh lobster, turned out to be a big disappointment and basically a waste of money. We ordered a 2 pound+ lobster that was not cheap, about $135 USD. We waited forever for it to be prepared. Big groups of people who came 30 minutes after us were served first. It was so long that they brought a free small guacamole as an apology. When we finally got the lobster it looked nothing like the pictures on Yelp. Worse, it was tough and rubbery. I needed a steak knife to cut it. So most of the lobster was tough from overcoming while other parts were tough from being undercooked. The waiter offered to have the raw parts cooked but it was put in a deep fryer so it came back a greasy mess. Yuck. It was not good. I had such high hopes and expectations for this place but our experience did not measure up. Maybe there a new cook, I don't know. But I do know that our hefty bill was not worth it.

Food was great, if you are traveling to playa del Carmen you must stop by. The environment was super chill and relaxing as well!

There are two locations. This one near 5th ave has some highs and some lows. Highs: the crab empanadas is delicious. They have a rather large menu which means there is anything for everyone. Mediums: the entrees are OK. Not amazing and not anything to write home about. Lows: be careful as the wait staff will try to rip you off. Sometimes they will add extra wine or drinks. Other times, they will claim they are bringing you a house wine and then charge 150 pesos a glass (house wines should be half that but no more than 100). When I was here, the waiter tried arguing with me until I told him I lived in Playa. Then when he realized he couldn't rip me off, he took the wine and left and didn't come back to take my order. So I waited a little to see if he really wasn't coming back (he went to other tables and walked right by me and the place wasn't busy) and then I left. The only reason this location gets any guests is because of its location and it's on the clubbing street filled with drunk tourists. Go to the location across the highway. This one is full of scam artists targeting drunk tourists.

Our waitress, Giovanna, was a delight and had us laughing. She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The dessert was recommended by her, not sure if it was on the menu, but it is a must if you come to eat here. We had the stuffed shrimp (philly cream cheese bacon wrapped shrimp), shrimp and octopus cocktail and for dessert had the cajeta crepes which is a must have. The cajeta is made table side and it is the best dessert I've had in playa del Carmen. Definitely a must have.

Excellent fresh seafood and customer service by Arthuro. Everything we ordered to eat was amazing! This place NEVER disappoints!

Do walk RUN!! Everything that came out of this kitchen was a "chef's kiss" best food experience I had in playa del Carmen. I would go back thousand times over!!!

The food was so fresh, services was good but the margaritas by far are the best I have had so far in playa!! The server helped us pick out things from the menu, and I glad we did I was so happy with the seafood and how fresh it was we will definitely be coming back here for dinner while we are here in Playa Del Carmen for vacation.

This is our first time visiting Cancun and the food here was absolutely delicious the drinks were on point. They used Really awesome tequila in my margarita and the food was so delicious really really flavorful and they had very well portioned meals. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of a good seafood restaurant in Playas del Carmen

Since this place was right across from the Thompson Hotel, my wife and I had lunch here because they had an open table. We weren't in the mood to battle for a table elsewhere and the menu looked good. They gave us a sample of their shrimp broth soup which was excellent. That's a good way to get people interested in trying it. My wife ended up ordering it. She said the dish itself wasn't as good as the sample and came with too much rice. It also came with bread on the side which was basically toast. They give you basic chips that look like they came from a bag and have bottled salsa on the tables. I ordered the Paella which was fine. Nothing special. It came with shrimp that had not been peeled which is irritating and cheap, some small mussels, a couple of clams and some calamari that was a bit tough and chewy. There was a small crab on top without any meat really in it. The rice was ok. The dish itself just felt cheaply made in my opinion. The lunch was mediocre and I doubt we would return since nothing really stood out and places like this are a dime a dozen in Playa.

We had the fried calamari, shrimp empanadas. Fried squid and shrimp ceviche. It was all amazing! The margaritas were the best we've had so far!

Just a typical tourist seafood restaurant. It came recommended from a bartender at our hotel so I figured why not. Like always I did a little research of my own and did notice they had oysters on the half shell. Went at lunch time and there was plenty of seating available. Like most of the service in the area they were perfect. They offer 2 kinds of oysters on the menu. 1 is just oysters on the half shell for around $1.50US and the other are gulf coast oyster for around $3US. I decided to get a dozen of the cheaper ones. It just so happened they did not have that kind they only had the gulf coast oysters. I normally am not a cheapo but for double the price I figured there could not be that much of a difference. It just seemed weird they did not have the cheaper of the 2 at 1 in the afternoon. Might just be me. I also decided to get a couple of there tacos also. I am unable to remember which 2 I chose but they were not very good. Probably why I cant remember. The texture was mushy like, comparable to canned tuna. The oyster on the other hand were good but I have had better much farther from the ocean. The place is located right in town and easy to get to but I would recommend looking elsewhere first.

    Shrimp with Three Cheese sauce.

The service was wonderful. Our servers, Giovanna and Ricardo, did a great job. The price was excellent. A great find off the main road. Will definitely come back for more!

We were recommended this place by a local at our hotel he gave us a free appetizer of ceviche which was amazing! We also were quickly seated and given complimentary shrimp soup to try which was also really good. Our server was very attentive and nice everyone in staff was very attentive and making sure we had everything we needed. We got the rice and shrimp and paella I would 10x recommend the paella the flavor was impecable and will definitely be going back when we come back to playa del Carmen.

I guess they weren't prepared for it to be this busy on a Wednesday night. The food was all really good, except for the fish. It was grilled well but tasted a bit dry. Only the top of the fish that was covered in sauce had flavor but it didn't seep through to the bottom of the fish. I recommend getting the Seafood Ceviche because they make it with coconut milk, which was different from all the other ceviches we had on our trip. Location 5/5, Service 5/5, Food 4/5, Drinks 5/5, Clientele…read more2/5 *more on that below* This spot has one of the best beachside settings in Playa del Carmen. The entire restaurant, including the bar, is literally set in the sand, with tables right on the water just a few feet from the ocean. It's barefoot, toes in the sand dining done right, and the atmosphere alone makes it worth the visit. We did have one hiccup in the evening due to a rowdy group from a drone company that was extremely intoxicated and invasive of our space. Their belongings kept ending up on our table, and there were drunk men taking their shirts off and doing shots just a few feet away. Not sure if they didn't have enough tables or what, but we had made a reservation to celebrate a special event months in advanced, so it was a bit irritating. The servers eventually handled it and intervened multiple times, but at no point were they asked to move or relocate. Once that group settled down, the night became a much more enjoyable experience. We were a party of 12, and every single person raved about both their food and drinks. For drinks we had: Prickly Pear: Made with Orange Blossom Condesa Gin, St Germain, fresh lemon juice, rosemary syrup, mint, and strawberry. Bright and refreshing, though it came with more foam on top than expected. Coco Loco: A fresh whole coconut with Patrón Silver tequila, vodka, rum, gin, pineapple juice, and coconut cream. A true showstopper. Don't be intimidated by the mix of liquor, it is smooth, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. No hangovers were had. Espresso Martini: Simple and clean with a light foam. Well executed, but not a signature cocktail compared to the others. For food we had: We were surprised with an amuse bouche of huitlacoche, often called Mexican truffle. It's a corn fungus with a rich, earthy flavor and this small bite was outstanding and set the tone for the meal. Queso Fundido: Oaxaca cheese with chorizo and flour tortillas. Great flavor, but very thick, making it a bit messy and difficult to serve. Guacamole: Prepared with tomato, onion, cilantro, and cotija cheese. Perfectly seasoned, fresh, and especially enjoyable paired with the queso fundido. Brisket: Served in chileatole sauce with huitlacoche truffle, carrots, and cotija cheese. Comforting, rich, and deeply flavorful. Robalo Guayaba: Guava sea bass served in guava sauce with chiltepín chili. Beautifully cooked with just a little too much sweetness and citrus. It would have benefited from a little bit of heat, or a vegetable or side to pair it with, as it is not served with anything other than a cooked slices of lemon. Creme Brulee Mexicano: A rice pudding infused crème brûlée with caramel and vanilla ice cream. A thoughtful twist on the classic, with the rice pudding adding depth and warmth to the dessert. Knocked down to 4 stars due to the rowdiness of some surrounding guests. We were seated on the sand and needed to walk through the entirety of the restaurant, but people without tables or reservations were standing in the middle of walkways and sitting on the steps down to the beach, many too intoxicated to stand up. I'm hopeful this is not the usual clientele, and I would return for the quality of the food, drinks, and the gorgeous setting.
