We've been here with a small group (6 to 8) a number of times and always had great food and good service. The owner was there the first time and provided amazing guidance on the menu and what she considered to be their specialties. The second time she wasn't there and the staff wasn't as knowledgeable about the menu but everything we had was good. What a disappointment! Check your bill. Be careful. We were charged $70 for 2 cappuccinos. We went back to the restaurant and they took it off and then put $14 back on. Really? That's when we asked to speak with the manager. He called and asked that we call later in the evening. We did. He was busy. Had to call again before he took care of it. Shocked he didn't offer a complimentary entree(s) or gift card for another time. They were very causal about the whole thing. The food was really just OK. Service was not good. Way overpriced for mediocre food. Even before we were realized that we got overcharged for our check, we agreed that we wouldn't return. I rarely write a bad review. In fact, this is my second one. I have to be really disappointed to write a bad review. I would much rather write a good review. Came here the other day thinking they closed later than they did. I had a random craving for creme brûlée so I was planning to just stop in and enjoy that and a drink with my sister to find out they were closed for the evening. Rafael was at the front helping us, he was super friendly and hospitable even with us accidentally coming in after close. He offered to make us some creme brûlée to go even though the kitchen was already closed and he definitely didn't have to do that! Definitely got a Paris vibe in the restaurant and the food and wine did not disappoint...great service too by Raphael. I went in for lunch and I was blown away at the freshness of the food, the quick service and simply how delicious everything was. The swordfish was perfectly cooked and the sides were fantastic. La Petite Maison has a nice, homey feel to the restaurant. Great service, and great prices for most of the food portions. I had a bit of difficulty finding something interesting on the menu mostly because menu items sounded more Italian then French, but I TRULY appreciate how friendly the staff is. I know it's not apples to apples, but La Petite Maison doesn't feel snooty as another local French bistro. Here's what my boyfriend and I had: Salad Landaise: This salad was a big concoction of lots of things that suprisingly work well. A few slices of foie gras, duck prosciutto (love!), apple, thin slices of mango, fried goat cheese, red and yellow tomato coulis. I'm not sure what the dressing was as it was minimal, but it might have had some balsamic vinegar, but I like how the salads contents speak for themselves without dressing carrying it. This portion is huge and definitely shareable among two. Nos Escargots Maison: This comes out in a circular ceramic dish with the contents of 6 escargots. We're eager fans of escargot and while this was tasty and comes with some toasted bread, I felt like it was missing something. It's definitely buttery rich despite how oily it is, but I've had better. Friture Royale: Think of this as a gigantic seafood fry with one softshell crab, some shrimp, some salmon and swordfish and some calamari. Definitely a generous portion for one person. This comes with tartar sauce and a garlicky tomato sauce. Both sauces are good. Moules Poulette: This was definitely a generous portion of mussels as well. The mussels aren't huge which is fine, but they do make up with the number/amount for the smaller size. Perfectly cooked, still tender. The sauce itself was delicious. I shamefully used the provided spoon to drink a bit of the sauce like a soup. Oh, and unknown to me, this comes with a nice cup of frites. Side of Gratin Dauphinois: I thought this was a bit expensive at $8. It's creamy and didn't seem too different from any other potato gratin. Not bad if you want a starch as a side. Side of French Beans: This side was just ok, we felt we needed another vegetables besides the salad, but we probably wouldn't get this again. It's just french beans cooked with tomato. I was hoping there would be more French items (i.e. coq au vin, boeuf bourguignon, granted there were beef entrees), but there was a pasta section on the menu and more than one scaloppine dish. Either way, La Petite Maison is unique restaurant on the stretch of Roswell Rd in Sandy Springs and worth trying at least once. Okay I am into this. The food was good and the waitress had a French accent. I met a friend for lunch. During the World Cup we couldn't get into the nearby sports bar so we opted for La Petite. We sat at a nice table in the corner by the bathroom. Table cloths on every table. We sat down and service was kind of slow. I'm not sure how they normally are on a Thursday at about 1pm. They didn't seem overly busy BUT they seemed short staffed. We got water.. And were brought the specials board by who seemed like an owner rather than a waitress. She read them all kindly. Again it took a while to be helped further.. We eventually got baguettes.. Which were delicious.. Our waters were refilled.. Then a bit longer.. And we placed our order. I ordered the French onion soup (felt necessary!) And the Salad Verdi. The soup was not what I expected. Almost a bit of a thicker, chicken broth-y onion filled soup with the typical cheese and bread on top. Very good and filling. The salad. What a salad! I read a tip that said the Salad Verdi was awesome and it definitely is! Its brought to you like a glorious mound of veggies: tomatoes, avocado, even Lima beans.. and mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, balsamic vinaigrette. Underneath is lettuce with a creamy salad dressing. The whole thing is just delicious and impressive.. And more than I could eat. I tried to finish more of the salad because I knew the soup would be more ideal leftover than the lettuce. I got a cup with a top to take the soup home and a coffee to-go which I didn't have high hopes for, but it was actually good coffee. It was a bit of a more expensive soup and salad lunch than I am used to but I knew that from the beginning when I ordered it and I really enjoyed the meal. We sat inside but could see they also have a great patio that can be enclosed in chilly weather. All in all a nice place for a nice meal and I'll probably be back when I'm not in a rush! read more

My friend happened to be hungry and drove pass this restaurant only to bust a U-turn. Her tummy filled with curiosities, unproper attire and unaware that it was the best finding of French good eats. Words about good food spread like wild fires. Her description of the mouth-watering foie gras and fig chutney has me yelped for joy so I had to see for myself. Well, on a Tuesday evening, after a day full of unncessary shopping spree (of all the time to be doing this)... we were hungry and we knew exactly where to go. I was in love with this darling little place, they had an awning for patio seatings, which were more casual than inside. The inside were a bit too romantic because of the dim lights and cozy chairs. We ordered the Foie Gras platter with a dallop of onion relish, mango sorbet, fig chutney, fig slices and a whopping size foie gras pate in the center and toasts. My friend ordered the crunchy fried goat cheese with duck prosciutto over a bed of fancy salads. Ok, I don't eat pork but I love proscriutto and I, again, yelped because it was DUCK prosciutto. For the main course, we both ordered steaks and mine just melts in my mouth. My steak was medium rare so it was very tender and juicy and the flavoring was absolutely divine. I usually don't order french frieds anywhere - unless it's from McDonald's or sweet potatoes since I'm addicted to those. But I had to have me some pomme frites(french fries) at this place. It is now my 2nd place to have french fries. Everything was divine. The service was great and very prompt. Their portions are very generous. The thing about French food from my personal experiences is that it doesn't leave you all greasy and groggy feeling. It's a good kind of fullness that leaves you room for coffee and desserts. Obviously, that's why the french people stay so slim. I love the atmosphere, very semi-romantic outside, quiet and sweet. It's not located in buckhead where everything just feels so rushed. We've been meaning to try this place for years, ever in search of some decent French food in the A. Finally a night came up where we decided last minute to go for it. Monday - Thursday they have a 3 course prix-fixe menu: appetizer, entree, and dessert for $32. After starting with some bubbly and some olive tapenade, we chose from that menu. I chose the goat cheese salad, the filet of sole, and the chocolate mousse. Jimmy chose the onion soup, the chicken normande, and the creme brulee. They brought bread and butter to the table, but I opted to save my calories for the meal. The goat cheese salad was meh... the toast wasn't all that toasty and tasted oddly fishy to me, even overpowering the goat cheese, which wasn't all that tangy as I expected. Jimmy said that the soup was good, creamier than most versions. My sole was battered and pan fried, so it was crispy and slightly dry. It came dressed with tomatoes, arugula, and capers on top, and the veggies were much needed to add some life. I tried a fry or two of Jimmy's in the mushroom sauce on his, and it was perfectly tasty and ordinary. The chocolate mousse was good - light and fluffy. Probably my favorite part of the evening, since it met expectations when the other dishes fell flat. We agreed when we left that it was decent, and we don't regret the evening, but we won't be back any time soon. read more

We visited most recently on a Tuesday, one of the slowest nights of the week for restaurants but were surprised to find a good-sized crowd. They take reservations, which earns high marks from me. The space is configured in such a way such that it can easily accommodate couples, large parties and business diners with its assortment of seating arrangements. There's even a covered outdoor patio where you can pretend you're dining in Paris on the Champs-Élysées; admittedly a stretch for Roswell Rd. There's a small bar that "greets" you when you first walk-in that also does double duty as a hostess stand. The owner and hostess extraordinaire was not on-premises this night but the front of the house was expertly manned by two gents right of out of central casting for John Turturro's butler role in "Mr. Deeds". These two were everywhere at every time; one was a magician at pouring water which was quite entertaining to watch. Neither asked if they could change our socks; watch the movie. Monday thru Thursday the restaurant offers a Prix Fixe menu featuring choice of a soup or salad, entree and dessert for $32. Not necessarily cheap but the portion sizes guarantee leftovers for lunch the next day. Only wine and beer are served. There's a decent selection of French wines that are reasonably priced by the glass or bottle. A plate of crisp French bread slices, a good olive tapenade and whole pitted olives are waiting at each table. Individually sized French bread loaves quickly appear and disappear just as quickly. We ordered mussels in white wine. They were juicy, firm and plump but the sauce lacked seasoning. Our plan for sopping up this seafood "potlikker" was spoiled by its lackluster flavor. The French onion soup, (Is it just onion soup when ordered in a French bistro?), was quite good with a cheesy crouton topping. The salads are large dinner-sized portions that could easily stand-in for an entrée. In fact, on future visits, my plan will be to split a salad and split an entrée; there is that much food. The ingredients were fresh and the dressings were well made. Both the salad Verdi and the warm goat cheese salad were excellent. The veal Normandy was the highlight dish. The veal was tender and the mushroom cream sauce, while rich, would make a shoe taste good. A side of stewed tomatoes and sautéed green beans was the perfect contrast. The "Gratin Dauphinois" was also crusty, creamy, "potatoey" good. The sole "Chex Nous" was fried sole paired with arugula, Parmigianino cheese, tomatoes, basil and olive oil served with a side of French fries. It's an example of how those sneaky French can make you think you're eating something healthy when it's really just fish and chips; a good dish. The steak frites "Parisien" was the single biggest disappointment of the meal. This simple dish can rival the best of beef. This version was "Plain Jane" and forlorn-looking lacking the juiciness and seasoning that usually makes this dish shine. The sauce on the side could not resuscitate the poor fella; it was DOA. Ending on a sweet note, everyone enjoyed the Crème Brulée and the Profiterolles. La Petit Maison, or "LPM" as the regulars call it, is a very good rendition of its Provencal cousins with just a minor hiccup or two. read more

Been here twice and have not been disappointed. They make the perfect duck , I don't even really like duck, But I love the Demi Canard roti à la Parisienne. It is just roasted to perfection. Lightly sweet and crisp. (dear me I'm salivating) I fell in love at first bite. I would have to agree with another reviewer about the foie gras. It's served a little "different" from how I've ever had it. We were expecting something like pan seared pieces or a pate' spread. Rather, it was served cold as large chunks in solidified butter/bile. It wasn't bad - just unexpected. If anything, you cannot leave this bistro without ordering dessert. So rich, decadent, and YUM! Prices are a bit high, but portions are large. The atmosphere is cozy, quaint, and rustic. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for good French cuisine. The next time I go, I am contemplating scallops and the pistachio creme brulee. I am anxious! read more

Called up La Petite Maison on our way to a show with very little time. When we ordered "Moules Frites" (mussels and fries) to go, the receiver wanted to know how far away we were going because she wanted to make sure it was safe and we didn't wait too long to eat it. Eventually we dined on the patio as the food was ready when we got there. The hostesses, who turned out to be the owner, Stephanie, was super warm and welcoming. Even though we were just getting the mussels, they brought out bread and tapanade with olives and indulged us with extra bread too for the sauce. The food, while a little pricey, was very good. I had the duck. However, the service was incredibly slow. From start to finish, we were there for 3-hours. There was a looooong gap between appetizers and the main course. And, the bad part was there was no explanation and no offer of a "free" dessert or some compensation for the horrible service. You can check my Yelp history, I rarely five-star any restaurant, but this little gem is an exception. My lovely bride and I shared a bottle of Grenache and a platter of various appetizers, with grilled peppers and eggplant topped with pesto, penne pasta, goat cheese, ratatouille, and toasted French bread with olive tapenade. It was a sterling beginning. I ordered the sliced duck breast and my bride had the Coquilles St. Jacques. Both were quickly devoured. No room for dessert, but the cappuccinos were delicious. Even though I'm giving it four stars this place is definitely worth your money. Visit One: My party of 3 was seated immediately; on a weeknight La Petite isn't crowded. The staff was quick, attentive, and friendly. Started with olive tepanade, delicious pitted black olives, and very nice baguettes. Crusty on the outside and just the right chewy-fluffy ratio on the inside. The olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette was great for dipping. My party of three and I shared the Salad Verdi (mozzarella, tomatoes, pesto, refreshing leafy greens, various dressings that paired nicely with all the dressings) and it was delicious!! After splitting into three, the portions were starter salad sized. I got the tuna steak cooked medium rare but next time I will definitely be getting rare because the medium rare is too cooked (not tough, I just prefer more raw) on the periphery. The central parts were red and melted like butter :) . The sauce was brown and creamy but surprisingly not heavy, which complemented the butteriness just right. The portions are very generous and the only reason you will feel heavy is because you ate so much! The mousse is kinda hard, but it's very chocolatey. I wouldn't get it again. Visit Two: My sister and I shared the Salad Chez Nous and the Salmon with haricot vert (french green beans) and buttery rice. Salad Chez Nous: dark greens and light greens underneath generous portions of smoked salmon topped with three triangles of toasted bread, which were each topped with a thick, short cylinder of toasted goat cheese. The edge of the plate was lined with fresh tomato wedges and a shot glass of freshly whipped unsweetened cream, which I didn't really like but it didn't detract from the salad at all. This salad is comparable to lox b/c of the carb + dairy + smoked salmon, and is VERY filling and delicious. Great for an early summer dinner. Salmon: If you agree that it's hard to find a tenderly cooked salmon, you will greatly appreciate this dish. It's one of the cheaper seafood dishes, but the flavor is wonderful and the texture exquisite: the salmon just flakes apart and you need only the softest motion to masticate. The rice is cooked with butter (thought not oily) and surprisingly, one of the highlights of the dish is the roasted tomatoes in the green beans. Definitely some of the most flavorful roasted tomato wedges I have ever had. I wouldn't mind if this was the most flavorful roasted tomato I ever had. We celebrated 2 birthdays at La Petite Maison last night - actually, not our first time there, but for some reason, I had not reviewed this restaurant before. This is an absolute gem - superb French cuisine, an elegant but not stuffy atmosphere, wonderful service and an absolute delight. We have lunch there quite often - very good, but I find it hard to get excited about lunch anywhere. Dinner is something else! We ordered a lot (5 of us) and everyone was delighted with their selection. I had the substantial House Salad - a very tasty variation on this standard, beautifully served. Then I let rip with Filet Mignon - the sauce choice was Roquefort or Poivre. I could not decide so the waiter brought both in little dishes! Superb cut of steak, excellent sauces, and served with au gratin potatoes. My daughter had the Magret de Canard et ses Fruits de Saison - a wonderful crispy duck - delicious. Other highlights of the evening's dining included the Plateau de Charcuterie - a wonderful assortment of meats and pate, the special house foie gras - superb, and Moules "Poulette" served in white wine, shallots and cream sauce. Somehow, we managed to top of the feast with Profiteroles and Creme Brulee - again, delicious, large portions sufficient to share with the group. The wine selection is limited but very good - and no full bar, which was probably a good thing given that mine was one of the birthdays being celebrated, and I might have gone even more overboard if cocktails had been available! My husband and I dined here last night for the first time to celebrate my birthday, and our experience was exceptional. I made a reservation for 7:30 p.m. and we were seated right away upon arrival 15 minutes early. We soon realized that the kind gentleman who seated us was the only server on staff that evening, as he took care of every table inside and two additional tables on the patio, made all the drinks behind the bar and seated every guest who walked through the door. He later explained that his partner for the evening had called out last minute and he apologized for the delay (which given the circumstances, his service was outstanding). Thankfully, another kind gentleman was working front of house refilling drinks, cleaning tables and running food. Together, they made a great team. My husband enjoyed two cocktails, a house salad and the New York strip steak "Beurre Maitre d'hôtel". I decided on the special menu and had the french onion soup, Chicken Normande and the best chocolate mousse I'd ever had. Everything was simply delicious! When our server brought our check, he had removed one cocktail and the coffee my husband had with our dessert as an apology for the delayed service. It really wasn't necessary, but we appreciated it. I enjoyed my meal here. Service was a little scatterbrained, but that was partially due to our large party. I felt bad for the waiter, who offered to breakdown our bill individually before any of us realized he had to do it by hand. I was tempted by a lot of dishes on the menu. Ultimately, my husband and I decided to go with the prix fixe menu because it was our first visit. I had the French onion soup, steak frites, and crème brulée. My husband had the beef carpaccio, gratinée of four cheese ravioli, and crème brulée. My onion soup was neither here nor there. It was decent, but not amazing. I tasted some of hubby's carpaccio and wished I'd ordered that instead. But I felt a beef appetizer and beef entrée would be overkill for me. My steak was delicious. It was cooked as I ordered it (medium) and the fries were crisp and delicious. I had a bite of my husband's ravioli and was pleased with that as well. The crème brulée was a little overcrisped, but I liked it well enough. I will definitely be back in the future to try some of their other menu offerings. read more

I recently had lunch here, and it was so much better than I expected. The place is located on a busy road, and it seems to almost blend in, but it has a very nice outdoor patio. The waitstaff appeared to also be the owners, which is the best because we got the best service! And, everyone was French, which made this an even more authentic experience! The lunch menu is a bit limited, but after much deliberation I got the ham and cheese sandwich topped with an egg. I didn't quite know what to expect, and when it came out the first thing I noticed was the presentation-- it was like i had ordered a $20 dish. I was very pleased! The sandwich was super tasty, and since the presentation was so exquisite, I didn't feel right eating with my hands so I ate my sandwich with a fork and knife-- yeah I probably looked weird. Be warned! This is not a good place for a quick bite, because when you see the presentation, it wouldn't be fair to plow through the food. It really is to be eaten slowly over a great conversation (but we managed to be in and out in an hour). In the end we ordered an espresso to top it off. I got all of this for $13. I think it was a great surprise and a very authentic experience. I will definitely like to go back for dinner and have a glass of wine! read more

What a wonderful dining experience! Delicious food, excellent service and charming atmosphere. I highly recommend their French onion soup, filet mignon and mousse for dessert. Their salmon with the honey lemon glaze is superb as well. Stephanie is the owner and she is so sweet. You can tell she loves what she does and wants all of her guests to be comfortable and welcome. Made last minute birthday reservations for two - myself and my college roomate. We had so much fun - We spoke French when we could and it was greeted with polite nods and no pretention. The portions were huge. We ordered the escargo and the steak tartar for appetizers and had plenty of fresh bread to soak up every morsel. As entrees we closed the menu and ordered one each of the specials. Mussels Marinara and baked chicken :) More bread was needed to apreciate ever drop of the Marinara. The wine list was, of course, wonderful and the service was attentive and not rushed in any way. Leave room for the Creme Bruele! Go to enjoy a meal and an experience, not grab a bite. read more

Went here for the 1st time recently after reading so many wonderful reviews. It was very good in many ways. The atmosphere is charming and makes you feel as though you are really in a bistro in France - complete with french accents of the waiters. We enjoyed all that we ordered but be forewarned, this food is VERY rich. We had beef carpaccio and esgarots for appetizers. Then the steak au poive and 1/2 roasted duck for dinner. Everything tasted very good and cooked as ordered. My only complaint that the nice vegies served with the duck were totally drenched in the rich cointreau sauce that was for the meat - it would have pleased me more if the vegies were more plain. We had the creme brulee for dessert and did not find it overly scorched as mentioned by others. It wasn't the most perfect custard we've had for this dessert but it was good. We enjoyed this place alot and will come back again (after we exercise off the weight me gained eating all that rich and yummy food). read more

I really wanted to give it 3 and a half stars. The food was very good in spite of the fact that I ordered chicken and they brought me salmon. The server didn't come back anytime soon, so I ate it. The salmon with bernaise sauce was quite good as were the green beans smothered with stewed tomatoes. The French fries weren't great but I ate every last one so they weren't bad!! For dessert I had the profiteroles which were lovely and ideal for splitting since they serve 4 of them on a plate! First time at this place. Decided to go for lunch. Immediately zoned in on two of the specials: 1. French onion soup (a good test gauge, right?) 2. Scallop citrus salad. Both were quite good, exactly the type of food I would expect. The service was wonderful, and I thought this was telling: An older woman, who appeared to be a regular, walked in. The owner recognized her and said hello. The older woman asked if she could buy some of the homemade pesto sauce. The owner did one better and gave her some. Now that's service! I am visiting from out of town. I have dined at many French restaurants around the world. By far the best duck. So Crispy and so tender this duck was incredibly good. My wife had the Verdi salad. She's a picky eater and she was happy. I strongly recommend it. The owner is a nice French lady with a gracious English accent. read more

Let me start by sharing that my wife is French and I know great cuisine when I taste it. Our night out at La Petite Maison can only be described as perfection. The food is beyond superb and the presentation eloquent. The service and decor are "old fashioned" class without being stuffy. The ambience of La Petite Maison is equally matched in the quality of the food. During our visit, I found the exceptional service complemented a trio (wine selection, food presentation and the calming atmosphere) that makes for an elegant culinary experience. I would recommend that you go for a celebration or just to treat yourself ( as we did) to a special evening. It is one of the few restaurants, that we have come across in Atlanta, where you can truly savor each bite of your multi course meal while tasting the "made from scratch ingredients" (from appetizer through dessert). Well worth the money we spent! I had the Filet Mignon Rossini, topped with pepper cream sauce and foie gras, over a bed of toast. It was served with sautéed spinach and gratin dauphinois (potatoes au gratin). It is probably one of the best Filets (remembering that it cut like butter) I've ever tatsted! Very pretty restaurant with wide spaced aisles. But that being said no extra chair by your booth according to prissy Latino server. He took away chair being used for purses & jackets even thou there were only 5 tables being used. We spoke to him in Spanish just in case there was miscommunication but that was not the reason he said, it was just a rule! Was happy he was not our server but since there were only two he probably got to share our big tip. Four of us had different three course dinners. Pepper beef was just so so served with a mush of green beans. Nothing French about these greens beans, so over cooked like an old southern recipe. Pomme frites were tasty but then I was starving. Beef Carpaccio was very pretty when served ,but tasteless. Creme Broulee was the best part of the meal. read more

Raphael got our table of six fixed without a lot of hooplas and our server was a most gifted gentleman named Mikel.
