[TL;DR] In case you couldn't figure out from the name, it's French cuisine. It's not pretentious. It's cool. It's quaint. It's awesome. I decided to come here when being painted into a corner as the office foodie and pressed to find a spot for lunch. The lunch meeting was initiated by -- JOKING, JOKING. I'm not providing a background story for this. /ATMOSPHERE This is exactly nowhere you would expect this place to be. I'm pretty sure it's neighbor is a dry cleaner. When you walk in, you run right into the bar. At least they have their priorities right. I didn't pay much attention to the indoor seating since it was amazing outside and a covered patio was available. The al fresco experience was perfect for lunch. The waiter, I'm pretty sure, was not faking his accent. /FOOD I had the chicken chez nous and the some soup. Is it right to call it French onion soup at a French restaurant? What about the French bread? Is it just bread? What about French fries?! I mean, I wouldn't ask for Korean BBQ at a Korean BBQ restaurant. I would just ask for BBQ. ETIQUETTE! The struggle is real. Okay, back to the food. The onion soup was pretty good. I've had better, but I'm not complaining. I finished it all up and wanted some more. The chicken chez nous is a piece of chicken that's steam-rolled to the width of a cheap, thin paperback. It's covered with field greens, hard cheese, and some dressing. Really good. It comes with green beans which were just average. The surprise cup of fries made up for it though. /SERVICE No complaints about the service. Attentive but not extraordinary. I mean, you're not getting synchronized plating or anything. No pretentious attitudes here. Just friendly service. HOW TO READ MY REVIEWS: 1 Star - Does not approach edible. I'm from Tennessee, and ate at this restaurant the last night on my trip. I'm so lucky I did!! First of all, the restaurant has ample and abundant parking. No need to try to find tricky street parking or pay for a parking garage. That alone makes it easy to go to it. When you get there they give you some olive tapenade and some olives marinated in olive oil with toast as an amuse bouche. The tapenade had great flavor and was chunky and not pureed, which is how it should be, and had hints of garlic, caper, and spices. I could have honestly sat there for 30 minutes and just enjoyed a glass of champagne or rose with those tapenade toast and make an aperitive out of it. Such a nice touch! I ordered the moules frites. It was so good. It was really delicious. It is an appetizer but it comes with a big plate of mussels. I inhaled them quickly because they were so delicious. You get a choice of mussels in a white cream sauce or a tomato red sauce, and I chose the white sauce. It was heavenly, with a strong mussel liquor flavor and garlic and white wine and lots of herbs. It was so good I used a spoon to drink up the remaining liquid in the bottom of the bowl like a soup (which is probably a huge Faux Pas in France lol). I honestly could have a thermos of the sauce the mussels came in and just drink the white sauce on a cold wintry day. I honestly wanted to order a second order of the mussels but then decided I shouldn't because I wanted to try other things. Next time I come in from out of state I'm gonna order two orders of the mussels. The French fries were really good, thin and crispy, with a nice amount of seasoning. I really need to come back and try the tomato sauce version too. I also ordered the salad nicoise and it came with tuna salad, like a very large scoop of tuna. It was a big plate and it had a ton of vegetables like cucumbers, green beans, lettuce, and radishes. So it was a very generous salad and absolutely great value. Along with the tuna salad and the egg, I feel that the salad has enough protein and fiber to really fill you up. I think you can just order this salad and get a ton of vegetables and protein for a good price. I think this salad is why this restaurant got voted "best value" in Fulton county. I would order this salad and try it with the grilled tuna too in the future. Finally the Tarte tatin for dessert. To be honest other things on the menu looked really good, like the creme brulee and the cafe gourmand. I had a hard time choosing. The employees suggested I try it. It was a really big portion, more like an individual tart and not a slice. It had big chunks of apple and good strong caramel color. The pastry was light and didn't take away from the apples, just complemented it. They serve it with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel sauce, and creme fraiche. I think you could honestly sit there for hours lol and try to come up with different combination of flavors with the tangy creme fraiche, warm caramel sauce, and vanilla ice cream. The Tarte tatin came piping hot which I really appreciated. I actually had Tarte tatin in Paris at this famous cafe that celebrities went to, Cafe de Deux Magots, and I didn't remember enjoying it as much as I did this one. People in Atlanta are DAMN lucky they have a restaurant like this. It is authentic French classics and the restaurant tries to preserve authentic, tried and true, traditional, classic French cuisine. People need to appreciate the care and love and effort it takes to make classic French cuisine, from slow cooking onions to caramelize them for la soupe a l'oignon (French onion soup) to the puff pastry decorations on the beef wellington (which I got a glimpse of on the way to another table and it looked pretty incredible, all puffed up in its glory). I'm glad an American city like Atlanta, where people live off of pepperoni pizza, chicken wings, and cheeseburgers, is still appreciating and patronizing a classic French restaurant like this one. Stephanie, the owner, was very busy checking on everyone and made sure glasses were refilled, and people got everything. They have French flags everywhere, white linen, and waiters in long aprons like in France, which is a nice touch. Please make a reservation, it was packed in the dining room and the veranda when I was there on a Saturday night, and because it is a French restaurant, they make sure people eat slowly and enjoy their food in the French style, so they let you stay at your table for a while, as is considered the social norm in France. Stephanie actually came out to the parking lot to personally give me a handshake and a hug, I was shocked! She was incredibly nice!!! In short, the food was extremely authentically French, it wasn't French fusion or New American French, it was just very classic French recipes, and the intention of preserving the French culture. Just a few ticks from where we were staying in Dunwoody is this quaint French bistro. As you walk in, you leave suburban Atlanta and transition into an atmosphere reminiscent of the bistros in Paris without the hustle. The escargot was the highlight of the evening. My ladies loved them...we got a 2nd order! Presentation of the food was impeccable but the consistency of the taste was variable as we moved from appetizer to entree. I had a wonderful dinner at La Petite Maison. We arrived when it opened (6pm) and were the only ones there. The waiter sat us at the enclosed patio and showed us a few different menus. The regular menu and the 3 course meal for $39. The pre fix menu is only available Monday - Friday; I thought it was great price and liked the options. Food: they did not skimp on the portions because it was a pre fix menu. The beef carpaccio was huge and delicious. They used fresh ingredients and this is probably the one of the best beef carpaccios I had in a very long time. I also got the fried sole and it was good but nothing super special. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse. If you love chocolate then this is for you. It was very rich but perfect with a cup of coffee. We said no and she let us pick from the tables she had available. Price Point: 2 stars: kinda steep for the amount of food you get. French people must eat petite dishes because you will leave hungry. Lunch for 2 will run you about $70 including an appetizer and 2 desserts. So it's not cool to leave hungry, especially when you can eat unlimited plates of meat at fogo de chao or Chama guacha for $35-$45 a person! But.... what they have in their favor is WHERE ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO GET FRENCH FOOD? besides bistro niko, that absolutely sucks! Or go to Doucer de France which doesn't have a menu close to what they serve here. Overall: I would come back to try dinner, but I wouldn't come often due to the price point and the amount of food you get for lunch. I did enjoy everything I ate. But the price point is steep for me to become a regular customer when I can spend $35 per person for lunch and go to krog market and leave with a smoorgass board of food and icecream, or when some of the dishes I can make at home. Great meal from start to finish. I ordered the French onion soup as an appetizer and my boyfriend had the mussels. The French onion soup was delicious. Perfect cheese pull and the French bread on top made it better than your average. My boyfriend ate all the mussels so I can only imagine they were tasty as well. For dinner I ordered the linguine salmon, which was a smoked salmon in a white cream sauce and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend had the filet. It was tender and well seasoned. The green beans and scallop potato cake were well seasoned and the perfect portion with his meal. I definitely ate my share off his plate. Fresh rolls were brought out in the beginning along with iced waters. Service was on point. Timing was stellar between apps and meal. Table was pre bused properly throughout the meal. We ordered the crème brûlée and tiramisu to-go, crème brûlée was tasty and thick, but the tiramisu took the win here. Delicious. Don't overthink it. Get the dessert. He also was wonderfully attentive and in a positive mood, which made the experience great! The food/wine: There's bread already on the table, along with butter. We ordered some red wines and a pâté plate to start off. My friends ordered the Frog Legs and one of the salads, both were delish. I had the veal with gratin and green beans- very flavorful and loved the mushroom gravy on top. For dessert, all of us split the apple tart with caramel, whip cream, and sour cream. Simply the BEST French restaurant in Atlanta! I've literally eaten there over 50 times in the past 8 years and every single experience has been superb. It all starts with Stephanie, Rafael and the rest of the staff who are all very warm, professional and welcoming. Our favorite dishes are the Salad Verdi and the salmon dinners (either the specials or the menu options). La Petite Maison is a family run restaurant with the owners always there to greet and serve guests. Unlike other French restaurants, the sauces here are light and tasty, the portions generous and the food very tasty. Unless you are schooled in French cooking, you could not replicate the dishes here at home. That, coupled with the quality and consistency makes this a five star choice. La Petite Maison is not inexpensive, but if you are going to spend $30+ per person, you expect the food and experience to be top notch and this restaurant does not disappoint. Christmas dinner...another spontaneous pick thanks to Open Table RSVP system. I was surprised at how many restaurants were open on Christmas night! We skipped the apps eventhough it's my favorite b/c I wanted limit my food intake. My sister ordered the foie gras platter which she LOVED. I ordered the filet mignon rossini... cooked to my liking - medium rare...with a little foie gras on top! It was buttering and melted in your mouth! YUM. The flavors were amazing...but something about it lacked in presentation... but flavor matters the most! For dessert ~ my sister picked the Pistachio Creme Brulee. I'm not big on ordering Creme Brulee in restaurants bc I can make my own, but hey it's what my sister wanted. The top was more burnt than desired but again my sister likes it that way so she was a happy camper! :) Over dinner was superb with nice service, cozy ambiance, and good food. Horrific is the word my husband used to describe our experience last night. It was 6:30 pm on Saturday night October 26th, 2019. We hadn't been here in many years but remembered great meals in the past. We arrived without a reservation and were please to be seated out on the patio as it was the lovely evening and all of the inside tables were reserved. We ordered pre dinner drinks, they arrived quickly and were very tasty. They served bread and toast with an olive spread, olives and pats of butter. We watched as our server took and served other people before checking on us. Not sure why as we didn't ask for special treatment. When he did take our order my husband ordered the $30.00 "New York strip steak "Beurre Maitre d'hôtel " Grilled New York Strip served with French fries and salad" Cooked Medium I told the server to surprise me between 3 entrees and if he was to select meat I wanted it Medium Rare. The food took a bit of time to prepare but that's ok. When it arrived it looked lovely. The server had selected for me the $48.00 "Filet Mignon Rossini Tender Filet in pepper cream sauce topped with foie gras on toast served with sauté of spinach & gratin dauphinois" It looked delicious but the filet was well done for both steaks. It felt like they hoped the pepper cream sauce and the dark lights would hide that fact. We both returned our meals with the hopes of getting our steaks redone to the correct temperature. The server brought my husband's steak back out after someone in the kitchen cut it in half, decided it was medium and that he was to have it brought back to him. The server actually brought back the steak my husband returned. He offered to take it back again but REALLY????? This turned my husband off so bad he couldn't finish the steak. AND it was tough, dry and tasteless. VERY quickly they brought my plate out with someone else's filet cooked to a perfect Medium rare. They used the same potato I had tasted and the same cold salty spinach. They didn't replace the foie gras and the toast was mush. With 3 drinks and two entrees the meal cost $115.00 plus tip. We saw the manager doing some table visits but never visited us. We will never go back, even if someone offered to pay for our meal. Shame on whomever decided in the kitchen to refuse to redo my husband's steak and have us both get served NEW meals at the same time! read more

My fiancé and I had dinner here last night it was a Thursday. We used open table and made a reservation for 7. We arrived just before 7 to an empty restaurant but we were asked if we had a reservation. We were quickly seated and brought menus and water. Moments after we were seated the restaurant began to fill with people. I believe everyone who came in had a reservation. Probably half the seating the restaurant has is outside. It's a very nice covered area with fans and can be screened in. We sat inside. I would say that if you come on a Friday or weekend I would emphasize if you want to sit out doors or indoors when you make a reservation, because of how much seating there is outside. It is a pretty casual French bistro. We didn't feel underdressed jeans. There were a couple parties who obviously dressed up a little but noting too fancy. There were olives, and toasted bread with a olive purée on the table before we sat down it was all quite tasty. We were brought warm bread that was good, fluffy on the inside crispy on the outside. We ordered the smoked salmon as a starter to share. It was brought out quite quickly, and it was probably the best smoked salmon I have ever had. There was a mustard dressing on top and sweet pickled onions on the side. It was very good. The plate was also very beautifully put together. We both had fillet mignon for our entrees. I got the one with the blue cheese sauce and my finance got one with a peppercorn sauce. They were both very good. The portions were much bigger than what I normally expect at a French restaurant but that's fine. My only complaint is my meat was slightly over cooked. I ordered medium and I was definitely medium well. But I was still very tender and melted in my mouth so it didn't take away from the meal one bit. The potato side was very very good. It was some sort of potato cake type thing. The potato was sliced thin and layered with cheese. It was cooked perfectly. I didn't love the green beans I got as my other side. I have had better. We ordered creme brûlée to share for dessert. The sugar top was not as thick as I like but still very yummy. It came with berries that had a tart berry sauce drizzled over top of them. It was very yummy and complemented the creme brûlée well. We did not order any alcohol because I'm 7 going on 8 months pregnant. So I can't be a judge on that but the food was lovely and we will definitely be back. read more
