Chicken tacos

Large, bright restaurant featuring delicious Mexican food. The staff was friendly and professional. We would definitely return.

Casuala combo. A little spicy but sooo good

We came back and ordered the same thing. It was so good. Maybe next time I'll try something new

Left: Spinach pesto veggie Enchilada. Right: Enchilada Verde. Definitely try the spinach if you like veggies! 10/10!

Okay so I've had alot of their food here but I must say their spinach pesto veggie enchiladas as AMAZING! My go to was the salsa verde chicken enchiladas but these spinach ones are definitely top tier and I'm not a huge veggie fan so that says a lot. If you look at my picture the one on the left is the spinach pesto veggie and the one on the right is the salsa verde chicken enchilada. I'm happy they were able to do one of each so I could try it. Per usual always they have great customer service and complimentary endless chips and salsa. Can't wait to come back for more spinach pesto veggie enchiladas!!! 10/10. **Almost forget the inside of the spinach enchilada was corn, zucchini, onions and bell peppers :)

fish sopes ( so bland!), jalapeno popper was decent but same as jack in box prety much

1. the service was good, the waiters were hardworking running back and forth to cater to our needs at our booked event in the back room. 2 i got a burrito a few years ago here and it was very bland and disappointing and they charged me extra for sour cream, it was such an awful burrito. So for this event i ordered fish sopes, and BOY , it was so BLAND, like how can you ruin mexican food?? the rice was alright, but there wasnt a lot of rice. the soft beans was so so , but the fish and sopes had zero flavor. also my sopa was SO SMALLLl , it was like 4 inches in diameter, and bland.. 3 most of the customers are white people and young people so that is a tell tale sign this food was like a bad chinese restaurant . 4. the front dining area for regular people was very hot during the summer, need ac. 5. the back event room had good ac , however. my main issue is , the food was so very very very bland try hiring some authetnic mexican abuelas and abuelos, or real mexicans to flavor up the food !!

Decent meal, flavorful chicken taco. I had the carne asada plate and I hoped there was more meat, but I should have asked the waiter about that to confirm. Wish I'd chosen better carb-wise, but overall okay.

Al pastor taco

I had lunch here with my cousin and it was a fantastic experience. My Al pastor taco was great. Salsa great. Service great. The music was rocking Alejandro Fernandez and mariachi classics. In short, I felt like home. I need to come back and try a margarita.

The staff was gracious and attentive. The food was delicious and affordable. The portion sizes were large and the chips were fresh and refilled frequently. Will definitely be back.

Super Famoso Burrito - Split in half!
Roshan R.

Service: Very fast! Ambiance: Old school Mexican restaurant vibe! Gets a pretty crowded on weekends. Food: Got the super famouso burrito with marinated chicken. It was pretty flavorful and huge! My wife and I split it and it filled us up. The complimentary chips and salsa were underwhelming. The salsa lacked flavor. The margherita was very underwhelming. Lacked any flavor. But was quite potent.

So, first off, we were late getting there and 30 minutes to closing. So service was just Ok. I've been here before where the service was great, I just think the timing was bad. Restaurant was getting folks coming in at the last hour. Otherwise, clean and nice environment. Food is always good. But it was cold, so we packed up and left. But again, it is more likely because it was closing, and folks were ready to go home. I will for sure come back. As the food is really good, and the staff is really kind.

I've had better Mexican food elsewhere. I feel that the meat isn't cooked how I want it. It lacked flavor. The service was good.

My previous order was supposed to contain all shredded beef, that was substituted without warning by shredded chicken. I'm allergic to chicken. But as I said, I loved this place, so I tried it again. Bad idea. Food arrived lukewarm despite being quickly and directly delivered. That's a big problem because the shredded beef is stewed. It should be at least 140f when the food was prepped. It was not. How do I know? Because when contaminated stewed meat is held below 140f dangerous bacteria (clostridium perfringens) develop and make people sick. All three people who had the stewed beef also had food poisoning and were tested to have this bacteria and it could have only come from Casa Azteca. I'm heartbroken. I loved this place. But when trust is lost, it's almost impossible to regain.

They offer plenty on their menu and have special deals too. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Service was okay. Not many people dining in but a lot of pick up orders. The sopes: Got 2 carnitas sopes and the meat was perfect. Soft but with a slight crisp and the flavor was all there. Plenty of cheese that caused a nice cheese pull. The steak nachos: They use shredded mozzarella but I don't think it was enough. A lot of the chips were bare and the ones that had it were dried out. The guac and sour cream balanced it out. The tacos: We got asada, chicken, and buche. Your average yellow tortilla perfectly oiled and heated up. I do feel like they skimped on the amount of meat they put on the asada tacos and the quality of the meat wasn't the best as there was a lot of fatty pieces. The winning meat was definitely the buche. It was fried just right and had a lot of flavor. The chicken was also very well seasoned and juicy. The green salsa was superior to the red salsa. It had a good heat level that wasn't overpowering like the red one. I appreciated that they added the pickled veggies on the side. Overall, a solid taco and sope spot. I will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

These tacos absolutely hit. However.... the wait. Taco Tuesday apparently activates some sort of time vortex. To-go orders routinely take 45 minutes to an hour, and dine-in isn't much better. You'll place your order, age emotionally, maybe grow a beard, and then BOOM tacos. Worth it? Usually. Efficient? Absolutely not. Outside of Taco Tuesday, prices jump fast. Case in point: $9 for 8 oz of guacamole. It's good guac, but at that price I half expect it to come with a tiny mariachi band or at least whisper affirmations while I eat it.

The Gonzalez regular burrito is the tastiest I've ever eaten in Fremont. It is likely the best burrito in Fremont. The tortilla prep is unique and is tasty, browned, and (buttery). The carne asada was fresh, perfectly spiced, tender, a generously portioned. The pinto beans were whole, not overly cooked, and added a nice layer of flavor and texture. Spanish rice was perfectly cooked, not mushy, not bland, not too much or too salty. The spice blend, fresh leafy bits, and crunchy onion bits, set this typical burrito apart from the rest I've tasted, ever. In totality, this burrito is a multilayered flavor and texture experience. I recommend. Well done Grill Los Gonzales! Caution, the roasted chilly are experienced high level chilly eaters only.

If it's a weekday and between 10 AM and 6 PM (call to check as they sometimes close early when they sell out), go to Amelia's and try the Amelia's Taco Dorado (crunchy taco shell in a soft taco tortilla with the works of meat, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and her own salsa). She also has regular street tacos and Tacos Supreme (comes with guac and sour cream). Hefty portions (she doesn't skimp on the guacamole or meat) and all of her prices are listed out. Best part? Call ahead to give your order to Juan and they'll have your order ready. We've ordered ahead while a few exits away on 880 and also at the start of the Dumbarton bridge. ============================== This has been on my radar since my colleague told me about the best tacos he'd ever had in the Bay Area including al pastor sliced off a trompo, but then Tacos Grill Los Gonzalez disappeared for a while from the Apex used car lot. They're finally back so we did the long trek over to try them twice. I might come back if I happened to be in the area and saw zero people in line, but otherwise, the wait time is too long. They are not lunch time friendly as orders take a while to come out. First visit, there were two people in front of us and we ordered four tacos. It was a 28 minute wait. Second visit, two people ordered in front of us plus one person who picked up their order right as we got there. We ordered six tacos and waited 37 minutes. That is very long for a food truck. The people in front of us were getting impatient and repeatedly asking for status updates. There are no prices listed anywhere so you have to ask about each item or order off of blind trust. The trompo seems to be gone and it appears they use bulk bagged "al pastor" now, or at least it looked and tasted like what you see when taquerias order large plastic bags of pre-sliced, red-dyed meat to grill up as needed. The paper wrapper around each taco is a must because the fresh made tortillas fall apart after one bite, even if you are eating within minutes of being handed your tacos. Other options nearby are Amelia's Kitchen Taco Truck on Decoto with plenty of parking before Regan Nursery, Tacos Sin Fronteras (another food truck) a block down on the same side of Thornton and Mi Lindo Sinaloa (sit down restaurant) on the opposite side of Thornton.
