The place is festive. There are vegetarian options, we went with the chile relleno but there was a ball of hair when we cut into the pepper . The waiter apologized and remade the dish. It was okay-- more cheesy than flavorful. Prices are inexpensive. Would rather eat elsewhere in Fremont.

I was scouting this restaurant to see if I would like my social group to have event here. I was so disappointed. I came in and two servers just ignored me and helped guest around me. I had to ask for help twice and finally a young man came out to help me. The tacos didn't even have lime to squeeze on the tacos. I had to ask for that too. Food was ok. The service was a turn off since I felt ignored. I was disappointed since I wanted my social group to have event here. They need to improve on their service treat all customers equally and not just pass the buck. Sad this Mexican restaurant did not deliver.

    $20 for guacamole?!?!?

Cantaritos has good Mexican food at prices that seem exorbitant until you see the portion sizes. Their $20 guacamole, which I didn't order, probably is made from 5 avocados or something. I came here for dinner on a Friday and split an order of nachos with carne asada, then ordered a fish taco and a shrimp taco for myself. And some of their "fried jalapenos" which sounded good. And their extra-cost habanero salsa. So the nachos come, and my companion and I are both shocked because this is not an order of nachos for 2, this is for 8 people. In most restaurants this would be considered a party platter. We maybe ate 1/3 of it. It was good, not amazing, but just hilariously too much food. Then my tacos come, each on their own plate because each is basically the size of a plate. I vastly underestimated the size of their tacos, they were probably the biggest tacos I've ever seen. I ate about half of each. My companion had a burrito which was literally, not figuratively, the length of his entire forearm. He ate about 2/3 of it. I would not call either of us light eaters, but Cantaritos portion sizes defeated both of us. The habanero extra-cost salsa was nice and spicy, but skip the fried jalapenos. These are literally just jalapenos that were tossed in a deep frier, so that clear membrane on the skin separates from the flesh and they are a bit greasy. I wasn't a fan. I don't live nearby so I doubt I'd come back, but if you're in the area and have a big hungry group this is a good spot. They take credit cards and have a reasonably big parking lot.

I would definitely go back to this spot for the chimichanga. It was full of flavor was a big serving. Our service was great and everyone there was so kind, often checking on us. I definitely would recommend their hennchata and I can't wait to go back for more!

This place is soooo good! Came with the kids on the weekend. He waited was the nicest, kindest and most patient. The food was great! Huge portions and very reasonably priced. There was no single flaw. Even the bathrooms were clean! 12/10!

Came on a Tuesday late afternoon/early dinner around 4pm. Cute restaurant with colorful decor. It wasn't too crowded when we got there, but it did start to pick up quickly. There were only 2 people at the time and one server seemed to be doing everything, I mean from waiting 4 different tables, helping with takeout orders, AND bartending. It did take a while for the food to come out but I mean if you saw what the server was doing, you can't help but understand! The food was really good and the portions are great! Despite the slower service, I definitely still recommend. (I'm guessing they were probably just short staff for the awkward hour.)

My friends and I came here on New Years Eve for lunch, great that they were open! Super chill atmosphere, plenty of parking available, no issues there. They brought chips and salsa! We split the carne asada nachos which were delightful and delicious. Great crunch and very flavorful. I had the chicken burrito which was delicious, didn't finish it and had to take leftovers home. Their portions are pretty generous here! Service was good as well, they were very attentive, I would definitely come back.

We stopped in for an early dinner. Sat outside since we had my doggie. Mikey served us with a smile and very efficient in his service. The nachos spilled across the plate with the toppings layered unevenly over the chips. Grilled chicken sprinkled all over but the taste was a little on the bland side. Could use more spice. The taco was crispy not soggy. It was surrounded with lettuce and tomato. One taco was enough for one person with nachos. Good visit. Try it out

    Mole Enchiladas

We usually order through Door Dash but finally made it out to the restaurant. It is vibrant and lively, the service was phenomenal. I almost always order the mole enchiladas because they are SO good! However, you can't really go wrong with anything on their menu! Their guac is delicious. Regular enchiladas are fantastic, soups are wholesome, seafood is delicious! This is likely to only authentic Mexican restaurant in Fremont!

My dad and I came here on a weekday night to have the lunch special, which runs M-F until 3 pm. I highly recommend it if you're on a lower budget but still want to enjoy a nice sit-down meal at a restaurant. Cantaritos has a cozy, welcoming ambiance that has a bar and plenty of tables. It seems like it's a good restaurant for small or large parties. I ordered the plate with 2 carnitas enchiladas with beans and rice. The meat was really tender, and there was just the right amount of sauce. Even though it was lunch, the portions were still huge, and I had half of it to bring home. We also loved the complimentary chips and salsa. The waiter was friendly and checked in on us during our meal. Overall, the food was good, nothing mindblowing, but for the price and portion size, it's worth a visit if you find yourself craving Mexican food.

I was scrolling through the menu and I noticed that some of the words were too small to read especially when they're clumped together. When I was trying to order, they were going a bit too fast by not just quickly telling me what to add next, but also added cheese to accumulate the total price of food when I never ordered it. Fast service could be as bad as slow service, because people could feel rushed. I got Al Pastor Bowl and it's really delicious though. I like how all the ingredients were blended together as I keep on eating it. My small issue is that, it wasn't kind of warm enough but not to the point where I have to microwave it. Honestly, I have forgotten what Al pastor is which is why I got it but again, I'll have to look up online what it is. Overall, the food is good but they should slow down a bit when taking customers' orders especially when they're new here. My other suggestion is to replace a menu where all words can be seen easily to read and to space them out.

The Gonzalez regular burrito is the tastiest I've ever eaten in Fremont. It is likely the best burrito in Fremont. The tortilla prep is unique and is tasty, browned, and (buttery). The carne asada was fresh, perfectly spiced, tender, a generously portioned. The pinto beans were whole, not overly cooked, and added a nice layer of flavor and texture. Spanish rice was perfectly cooked, not mushy, not bland, not too much or too salty. The spice blend, fresh leafy bits, and crunchy onion bits, set this typical burrito apart from the rest I've tasted, ever. In totality, this burrito is a multilayered flavor and texture experience. I recommend. Well done Grill Los Gonzales! Caution, the roasted chilly are experienced high level chilly eaters only.

If it's a weekday and between 10 AM and 6 PM (call to check as they sometimes close early when they sell out), go to Amelia's and try the Amelia's Taco Dorado (crunchy taco shell in a soft taco tortilla with the works of meat, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and her own salsa). She also has regular street tacos and Tacos Supreme (comes with guac and sour cream). Hefty portions (she doesn't skimp on the guacamole or meat) and all of her prices are listed out. Best part? We've ordered ahead while a few exits away on 880 and also at the start of the Dumbarton bridge. ============================== This has been on my radar since my colleague told me about the best tacos he'd ever had in the Bay Area including al pastor sliced off a trompo, but then Tacos Grill Los Gonzalez disappeared for a while from the Apex used car lot. They're finally back so we did the long trek over to try them twice. I might come back if I happened to be in the area and saw zero people in line, but otherwise, the wait time is too long. They are not lunch time friendly as orders take a while to come out. First visit, there were two people in front of us and we ordered four tacos. It was a 28 minute wait. Second visit, two people ordered in front of us plus one person who picked up their order right as we got there. We ordered six tacos and waited 37 minutes. That is very long for a food truck. The people in front of us were getting impatient and repeatedly asking for status updates. There are no prices listed anywhere so you have to ask about each item or order off of blind trust. The trompo seems to be gone and it appears they use bulk bagged "al pastor" now, or at least it looked and tasted like what you see when taquerias order large plastic bags of pre-sliced, red-dyed meat to grill up as needed. The paper wrapper around each taco is a must because the fresh made tortillas fall apart after one bite, even if you are eating within minutes of being handed your tacos. Other options nearby are Amelia's Kitchen Taco Truck on Decoto with plenty of parking before Regan Nursery, Tacos Sin Fronteras (another food truck) a block down on the same side of Thornton and Mi Lindo Sinaloa (sit down restaurant) on the opposite side of Thornton.
