You have to walk up a slight hill on Carver Street to get here, and it was no surprise that it was relatively packed with all the terrace seats taken. And yet, the ambiance was quite chill. Everyone was looking relaxed and definitely not on the make. Customers skewed a tad older here, which made us feel right at home. We were particularly impressed that the veteran bartender had a mixing container dedicated to their espresso martinis, so of course, we ordered a pair for $16 each (photo: https://yelp.to/VmjWNmEyk0). We sat near the fireplace and just let the smooth libations and mellow dudes give us the P-Town karma. This is actually the in-house bar cafe for the compact Staypineapple Hotel where we were staying in Boston (review: https://yelp.to/iittq3ioql). As a hotel guest, we were entitled to complimentary glasses of wine (photo: https://yelp.to/VZfvDvRXXU). Chardonnay for Jamie, Merlot for me. They were generous pours, and it was a nice enough experience that we came back twice during our stay. Each time, we both went for the $15 A Cup of Joe, an espresso martini with vodka, kahlua, and for $2 more, Bailey's (photo: https://yelp.to/gOfz2lyTgh). That was a refreshing delight worth repeating, and the staff was quite friendly. It's no mystery why patrons like myself return week after week. The vibe is laid back on weeknights but amped up on weekend nights. Whether dressed in a tux or in shorts and a tee-shirt, everyone is welcome and comfortable at Trophy Room, which effortlessly and unpretentiously combines both quirky, sporty dive bar vibes and a chic, upscale lounge ambience in a small yet vibrant, intentional setting. It is a Boston institution for a reason and a can't-miss destination in a city that, notably, lacks just the kind of fun, welcoming, energetic space that Trophy Room consistently provides.
