Mannn terrible !! Walked in today and was like wow the ambiance is amazing in here! But that was as far as it got. Sat down, the chip lady came and dropped chips and we ordered guacamole table side. Then the server got us water and never saw the young lady for 24 mins and then we asked for the manager but man NO MANAGER ?? Who opens the restaurant ?? I visited La Placita Mexican Restaurant for the first time last week (I believe their grand opening was in February 2026), and overall it's a solid spot worth trying. The portions are definitely on the larger side ~ very filling, just like you'd expect from a typical Mexican restaurant. The menu is extensive, offering not only traditional Mexican dishes but also options like chicken wings, soups, and seafood (including octopus and oysters), which gives it a nice variety. They also offer catering, which is a great option for events. I went with a group of 12, and we were seated outside. The ambiance is bright and fun, with lots of greenery, flowers, and neon lighting that creates a lively atmosphere. As a complimentary starter, they serve chips and salsa, which were fresh and tasty. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the service. Even though the restaurant wasn't full, it felt a bit slow ~ we had a 7:00 PM reservation but weren't able to place our order until around 7:40 PM (that's when server asked if we were ready to order). That said, once we ordered, the food came out quickly (within about 15 minutes), which was a plus. We've been driving by and finally decided to stop. Very nice and fun decoration, spacious, a nice big bar, and we were quickly greeter and seated. They're have a lady who walks by with her guacamole cart offering to make you some! Try it! The chips were good and so was their salsa. They brought us an extra basket of chips at no cost. Went here for a birthday party so it was a larger crowd but not an overall good experience. The food was okay and the drinks were good, just pretty slow service. Was there for at least 2 hours and was only offered 1 drink, waiter never came back to take another drink order. The staff seemed nice but overwhelmed when we were there. If I was going to give a rating based on just the ambience and service, it would definitely be five stars all the way. From the guacamole at the table to the continuous drinks that came out to the food that was still hot upon delivery, everything was great. I'm super picky with my Mexican food choices and I think they did an overall good job. I had the chicken and beef tacos and they were great. Other people in our party had fajitas which they raved about, and the enchiladas were delicious I am told. We loved the happy hour Margarita, special. This place could be a five star restaurant, but remember, it is built to be a four-star restaurant. Not taking away anything, just I would never give a restaurant similar to a Chili's or an outback steakhouse a five star. I found the pricing for La Placita to be way too much for not only a Mexican restaurant but a Mexican restaurant serving the style of mexican food they're serving. Service was a bit off, but I think they're still new so I'll cut them some slack on that. I found the booths very uncomfortable and the food uninspiring and just drenched with sauce. Literally my meal was swimming in sauce. There was some confusion when I tried to initially order a cheese enchilada as the server was completely confused on what a cheese enchilada was, and kept asking me if I wanted chicken. Knowing that was going to probably not end well I just went with the chicken. My draft beer I ordered I couldn't even finish because it was way too over carbonated something clearly wrong with their taps. It was like Modelo and soda. To be fair, it may be just teething pains being a new restaurant with new staff. I will likely give them one more shot and we'll see how it goes. The chips were warm and the salsa was spicy, but not too spicy. Within a few minutes our server, Fabian, came over and took our drink order. It took a little while to get our drink order of margaritas, but they were certainly worth the wait. Probably one of the best spicy margaritas. I've had in quite a while and they use quality tequila. We both ordered the birria enchiladas. When people write reviews saying there is a lot of food, I'm often hesitant because quantity does not always equate with quality. I'm happy to say these were delicious, although a little too much sauce on the plate. This is not your typical, inexpensive Mexican fare. Food was fabulous! The service was pretty good too! The only thing wrong was the atmosphere. It felt like the place couldn't decide if it was a restaurant or a rave. If they want it to just be a bar, I have no issues with loud music, but it's a family friendly restaurant that had even kids covering their ears. The music was just so obnoxiously loud that we could not hear the person sitting right next to us. Our ears were ringing when we left. We asked if they could turn it down just a little as we couldn't even hear our server. They did for about 5 minutes then turned it right back up again. It got worse when they started doing an alcohol shot party thing. Kinda like when people have birthdays and the employees sing, well it was all the employees dancing around the restaurant with bubbles and drums and things, handing out shots all over the restaurant. Sounds fun and the idea of it was cool, but they literally changed the music to rave beats and turned up the already loud music even higher. The atmosphere is beautiful and warm. We sat at the bar and were shocked by the warmth and customer service of the bartender. We ordered the Eloté as an appetizer ($14.99). 10/10. Presentation, Taste, Temperature and Portion met and exceeded all expectations. We ordered the Street Vendor Taco Cart (33.99) which fed the both us. I can't say enough about the presentation the taste and the portion of these tacos. The best tacos I've had in Florida and the best Tacos I have had outside of California and Top 5 all time. We decided to wait and the time keeps going by and we check in twice to see how much longer. Mind you they have no real wait time system they are writing names on paper and calling off of their personal phones.its 8:55pm and we finally receive a call. A way longer wait time than we expected but okay I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
