It's not fancy but they've got the basics down which is why they have so many return customers. Great food, good price, kind and courteous servers that make sure to refill water and chips, and managers that check in to see your taken care of. They could probably give masterclass TED talk on how to keep your restaurant business going for decades, but why when they just do it. A good friend recommended this Mexican restaurant. I ordered the huevos rancheros. It was excellent and made to perfection. They do not skimp on the food. My daughter ordered a cheese enchilada and chili relleno with rice and beans. She said it was amazing. Granddaughter had the carne asada tacos which was also amazing. The guacamole is made fresh (not out of a bag) and the tostada chips are actually warm when they arrive at the table. Have been searching for an authentic affordable Mexican restaurant. Found it! I think their food is good but, their prices are outrageous. Our family used to order their large taco kit to go and they began to include less and charge more. The last time my husband had to go back for the toppings (onions, cilantro, etc) because they forgot it and they told him that we ordered the taco wrong kit. It took 25 minutes for them to review the order and insist we were wrong instead of just allowing him to buy the extra. He eventually gave up, paid $15 for onions and cilantro only and left. This isn't how you treat loyal customers. We won't be back. read more

I think they may need a bigger place! It was pretty busy for a Monday around lunch time. I heard this restaurant had authentic Mexican food so I had to try it. I think others have heard the news too. It did not disappoint! I ordered the chimichanga and it was fried to perfection. The chicken was moist and bursting with flavor. My friend ordered their carnitas plate and it came with rice, beans, tortillas, pico de gallo, and guacamole. The plates come out sizzling hot. I noticed they serve breakfast all day so that's a bonus. As I mentioned earlier, it's a busy place so I wish the service was a little bit better. They forgot to bring us our menus. I ordered the taco salad and was very disappointed. It had about two tablespoons of beans no sour cream like it said on the menu.The guacamole was generous. The ground beef and chicken were the same price, I wish I had ordered the beef or chicken. I would highly recommend ordering a regular bean tostada for $9 instead of a taco salad for $16, unless you want a big plate of iceberg lettuce. read more

Our group of 5 had lunch here on Thursday. First visit for 4 of us. We were surprised at how crowded it was at 11:30. We were able to get a booth in the corner. Perfect. Service was friendly and efficient and our food was out to us quickly! We all had something different off the lunch menu and we all enjoyed our meal. Leftovers went home with 3 of us. I ordered Patrick's Burrito and was surprised at how much food came - all delicious! I brought home the leftovers, heated them up, put into two flour tortillas and had lunch for my husband an I today. He enjoyed the food too! The ladies all decided we should return soon. read more

We tried this restaurant because of the good reviews. The food lacks seasoning and flavor. The salsas offered are mild and hot; the mild has the consistency and flavor of watered-down ketchup and the hot is the same consistency but hot enough to burn your mouth. I asked if there was a medium option. There was not. The taco salad was a deep fried, puffy shell, bagged salad mix, shredded white chicken with no flavor and a ball of guacamole on top. My companion ordered a chile verde burrito: flour tortilla, boiled pork, and a broth (not sauce) with maybe one canned green chile in it. The restaurant is generous with chips and guacamole is excellent. Nice staff. Maybe this restaurant works in this neighborhood...not good food. read more

Very pleasant service at La Placita. Emilia (?) was fantastic with her service and engagement. And they do a very good job of cleaning tables between guests. The place was hopping the Friday before Christmas at 11:30 a.m. Chips are housemade daily and you can tell. Be careful about how many chips you eat as it's easy to overindulge. The mild salsa tastes like a weird ketchup. The hot sauce was wonderful! Though I did go through 3 tall glasses of ice water. LOL! Chicken is not my go to for Mexican food. It's usually bland. However, the lunch special burrito comes with ground beef or chicken. Extra cost for other meats. So I tried chicken. It was fantastic in-house. Lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream were extremely fresh. I'm the queen of leftovers and the only downfall to La Placita is that the burrito, rice, beans, chips weren't good as leftovers. read more

I had the pleasure of going to La Placita while visiting my family recently. It is a cute and busy little restaurant with the nicest staff...ever. My family of 18 was seated quickly as we called ahead, we were all accommodated and comfortably seated. We were immediately served and the service was outstanding. The best part of the evening was the food! We had the chicharrónes and had flour tortilla chips and salsa to start us off. The food was fabulous and as each plate was placed before each person, I wished I had ordered THAT When they delivered my chile verde burrito dinner it was both pleasant to the eye and even better when I began to eat. The food was delicious as my sisters and I shared our meal, each bite better than the next. The manager visited our bustling table and asked if everything was to our liking and I have to say, there was not a single complaint. La Placita is special to our family as it was our late mother's favorite. Thank you La Placita for making my visits to NorCal special as we always meet here for dinner and enjoy the most wonderful meal. I will see you on my next visit. read more

Great food, beans and rice are my son's favorite. The salsa is like eating fire, but tastes really good, so you have to take the pain with the pleasure. I love that they put onions in the cheese enchiladas (they ask if you want them, in case that's not your thing). And the chicken taco is wonderful. read more

So happy to find an old-school Mexican restaurant two minutes from our new home. We stopped in for lunch and was impressed with how clean and busy this little restaurant was. It wasn't even noon yet and they had quite a crowd. The salsa's were interesting, both smooth, looking a bit like ketchup, but sure didn't taste like ketchup! The hot salsa was deceiving; it didn't seem hot at first, but heat kept growing in my mouth. Tasty! I thoroughly enjoyed the Chili Verde burrito on the lunch special. This was evident by my empty plate. Mr. S is always in search of a good Mexican breakfast. He ordered chorizo and eggs with potatoes. The good: service excellent, the amount of food more than adequate The bad: ordered taco, ground beef enchilada,Chile relleno and rice and beans. My enchilada came as a cheese enchilada it was so much food that had it boxed up and took it home. Now let me say, I've been eating at this restaurant for probably 20 years and my Sister even longer, it used to be fabulous! This meal should have been just as fabulous heated up next day, it always had in the past.I order ground beef taco and enchilada the Chile relleno and rice and beans, but they delivered me a cheese enchilada,by the time it the replacement came I just boxed up all of my meal to take home. I ordered the Patrick burrito and it had little amount of tiny shreds of asada with so much onion and bell pepper strips , all on the outside of the burrito. The inside of the burrito was soggy and filled with onion,cheese and bell pepper. This was disgusting. My roommate order the chicken fajita burrito and again, hers was mostly onion and bell pepper strips with very little chicken. We will never come back here again. Just wasted $37 and throwing this food away, have to get something else for dinner. read more

Husband and I tried this place for the first time last night and it was amazing! We have been looking for a good Mexican place. The service was outstanding. Our drinks and chips and salsa were never empty! I couldn't tell you who our server was because everyone pitched in from taking drink and food orders, refills, bringing food and the check. They have an amazing team! The food was great and came out quickly (plates are hot!). Everything had great flavor. Even my husband said his cheese enchiladas were very flavorful, He finished his whole plate! Usually he won't eat much of the rice and beans at other places as he says they usually lack flavor. Just came back from eating at the Orangevale La Placita. The chili Colorado & chili verde were excellent and made like u would expect. BUT the Patrick burrito which we specifically requested NO green peppers, were covered in green peppers & most of the filling was on top not inside the tortilla . The other burrito also was requested to not have green peppers & that was loaded with them as well... but at least the stuff was wrapped vs thown on top! This place is amazing! Super efficient. You're seated quickly; water is refilled fast, they offer chip refills before your chips are gone; there's an employee who walks around with salsa to refill your salsa when it's low. The food comes out hot and quickly but you know they Made it fresh because you can customize your order in so many ways. The food is delicious and the chips are warm when they come out! Highly recommend. They also have this little kids plate with meat, rice and beans and it's FREE for kids under 3! I don't have to share my dinner with my toddler. Win win! read more
