Restaurant inside the Woods at Cherry Creek golf course We had Sunday dinner at 6:30pm. My friend made a reservation and we sat outdoors overlooking the golf course. We weren't too hungry so we ordered mussels in red sauce, fried calamari, spinach pear salad and ham burger and samuel adam's summer brew. The mussels were very clean and the red sauce was delicious. The calamari was crispy, the spinach salad was well balanced with sweet poached pear and tangy bleu cheese. The burger was juicy. All the dishes we ordered were very good. read more

I've been to Stonewalls several times - there is an outdoor patio that overlooks the golf course with numerous fans on a hot day and 2 dining rooms indoors. Plenty of space for a big group or seating where you don't have to be on top of other people. And for those in need they have high chairs too! No matter what we have tried it has been good/a super reliable option for lunch or dinner. read more

I don't like giving bad reviews but this one is warranted. I'll start with just the facts, I came here on Thanksgiving with my mother & sister. We had a 2pm reservation & were seated immediately. The restaurant was maybe a third full at this time. It was a limited three course Thanksgiving menu, we waited about an hour before appetizers came. The appetizers were fine but when my sister got her crab cake the plate was so hot from sitting under the lamp the waitress burnt her hand twice trying to serve the dish, at that point we already knew something was up. The main course didn't come out until 335, my mom ordered the Thanksgiving dinner which was the best of the three but had white meat and dark meat mixed together and her gravy poured over the top of the whole meal as if they knew everybody wanted gravy. I had the Duck a l'orange pictured, it was so dried out it is difficult to imagine how to get such a fatty dark piece of meat so dehydrated . Lastly my sister got the filet mignon which was over $60, ordered it medium & it came out very well done. The waitress was nice and accommodating and the staff gave my sister a new steak but at this point it was after 4 pm, we're already leaving & took it to go, very disappointing. That was two hours in a place that normally caters large crowds and they were super slow and got everything wrong. I had my wedding here October 2022. We heard such great things about this restaurant and felt excited to have our wedding here on the beautiful property. However, there's a few things that we really wanted them to know for future weddings. Unfortunately, they did not respond to our 3 phone calls or my email to discuss the issues that we wanted to bring to light. I am posting a review now because I happened to see this restaurant pop up on my yelp page. Hopefully they have made improvements since my wedding but I will never return or recommend due to being ignored. The wedding just felt unorganized and here are some reasons why: -The office space they gave me to get ready with my mom and sisters was full of spackle buckets and other construction type materials which I had to move out of the way myself even though they said they would move it when I was there the day before. -The table linens were blue when I first arrived and had to ask them to change them to the off-white color we selected with the manager. -It was a rainy day, so we had a rain plan for the ceremony where if it was raining we will hold the ceremony inside as back up. Lucky for us it stopped raining about an hour before the ceremony! So we asked for it to be held outside (as originally planned). We only had around 20 chairs bc the woman in charge said not to bring out mismatched chairs (I don't know why they didn't have 40 matching chairs since they've done weddings here before). So my husband had to tell them please bring out more even though they don't match so that our guests could sit. -We wanted the dance floor and DJ set up on the patio as discussed but we were told the heaters wouldn't help with the cold temperature which seemed odd to us because we were told the patio would have heaters. So it was set up inside next to the bar. -Food was being served much longer than discussed; until about 8:30pm. Due to this we had to extended our time with the photographer and rush the parent dances and cake cutting. -The female server with very short hair came off as a bit rude towards my husband and myself in separate instances which I will not go into detail over because we can let it go, but the things that bothered me most about her is that she complained about us to our guests! One of her complaints was to a family member who traveled from another state whom we are not close with saying that "nobody in the bridal party had answers to her questions" but we didn't even have a bridal party... she should have asked me or my husband her questions. She also complained to another family member that she had to wake up early to serve us brunch (which wasn't true, we did not book them for any brunch) this started confusion as to why we didn't invite certain people to our brunch (which we weren't having) and I had to let my family know nobody was excluded and that we were not having any brunch. This makes me wonder what she might have said to other guests. Again, this is a long overdue review and hopefully they have made improvements since October 2022, but I feel my review should still be done due to the way they ignored our phone calls and emails. read more

Something changed in this place. And it's called Service. My last two visits were for dinner and with guests. If ever I had nightmare experience this place gave it in spades. On both occasions wait servers were rude. We waited 45 minutes before she came to take the food order. Two hours before the first course was even served. No bread on table either. Not my usual experience but two consecutive occasions?? I complained on the second visit after one hour and a half had passed. She was rude, Big time. It may have been in the kitchen, but management made no effort to assure us our evening would improve. Needless to say none of us have returned in the last 6 months. Three stars for the food. Came here for the first time, based off google reviews of 4.5 and took the chance to try a new place for our wedding anniversary dinner. It was Prime Rib special. We both went with this. We recently held a family reunion at Stonewalls. Although we wanted to be outdoors, they placed the 30 of us inside as it was very hot. Many of the guests were happy about that! Those that wanted to go outdoors walked through the beautiful gardens where many of us took photos. My guests could not stop commenting on how fabulous the food was! The salmon, the chicken piccata, the pasta primavera......everything was delicious! My personal favorite was the beet salad which I'm so glad Alisha recommended. To top off the wonderful buffet, the strawberry shortcake was the best I've ever had. The chef imports his flour from France and other ingredients from Italy to make the tastiest, lightest cake! Our server (I neglected to get her name) was excellent! She had a lot to do to keep up with this crowd! I especially appreciated her patience trying to serve beverages when everyone was milling around and socializing. Lastly, there was such an abundance of food, that I asked if I could take leftovers home. They wrapped and boxed everything up and we ate it for days!! I was struggling to find a place to host my wife's 60th birthday celebration with our friends. Finding a place for 16 people on the south and north forks of Long Island isn't easy - especially during the wine/pumpkin/fall season. I reached out to Stonewalls at the recommendation of a friend of a friend. The manager reached back out to me and let me know that they were having an event earlier in the day and would be willing to have us if we could wait until 7:30. I immediately agreed. The night was memorable. Oscar greeted us when we first walked in and the bar area was set up perfectly for a group of our size. We had the bar area to ourselves once the other event closed up. Oscar was accommodating and made great suggestions on how to serve the appetizers and salads, recommending that we do it as a family service. It worked out perfectly. I asked for the spinach salad and asked that they substitute goat cheese for the blue cheese and he said, "Of course". All the food came out hot and was delicious. From the salads to the crab cakes to the calamari - all said they were delicious. Oscar even provided three kinds of desserts to finish off the night. Two of my sons have worked as waiters and they thought the staff was excellent. Non-obtrusive, on top of things, and very friendly. I would highly recommend Stonewalls for an event. Good food, terrible service. I was astounded by how a particular server treated my girlfriend and me at this establishment. I'm posting this so that the owner will know how this waitress treats their patrons. We experienced two instances of gross behavior. 1) When I asked for wine recommendations, I was greeted with an eye-roll and an interrogation as if the waitress couldn't believe the request I had made. 2) The waitress was combative when I asked for more time to think about what I'd like to eat. Here's how the conversation went: Waitress: What'll you have? Me: Oh, we just started to look at the menu, can you come back to us? Waitress: (visibly annoyed) Soup or salad. Me: Yeah, we just don't know yet. We just started to look at the menu. Waitress: You don't know what you want? Me: That's right, we just sat down. Waitress: Soup or salad. Me: We don't know yet. Then she rolled her eyes again and stormed off in a huff. This woman is obviously not fit for the position she is in. My girlfriend and I had very small requests, but this waitress just couldn't be bothered. Her attitude was disgusting. She is a short middle-aged woman with salt and pepper hair. She almost ruined our night. My girlfriend and I were the only ones treated this way, and my girlfriend was the only Asian person there. I can't help but that this woman might have some racial issues that are incompatible with being a good server. The owner needs to find new staff or risk losing recurring customers. I won't come back to this place as long as that woman works there. I've never been treated so rudely by a server. On the plus side, after complaining, a different server took care of us for the rest of the night. Come here if you want to be berated by a waitress! read more

We tried Stonewalls for lunch on a weekday. We were the only customers seated in the inside dining room (we arrived around noon). A little later, some golfing parties were seated at outdoor tables (the restaurant is part of a golf course). Our table had nice views of an impressive flower garden and of part of the golf course. An added plus for us was the relative quiet of this venue (the background music was jazz and there was no TV). So, it was conversation-friendly. Even with only one person working, the service was prompt and friendly. My wife ordered a Turkey Club Sandwich and I had a Cuban Sandwich, both accompanied by shoestring fries. The fries were excellent and the sandwiches were OK. Our only gripes were that the "Roasted Turkey" in the Club was just like turkey roll slices and the Cuban had way too much mustard on it. The toasted Ciabatta Rolls for both sandwiches were quite good. So, I'm giving Stonewalls 3 stars for the food. The 4th star is for the view and the quiet ambience. Went here on a Saturday night with my family with a reservation at 7:30. There was 6 of us. The place was half empty. The bar had about ten people and the dinner area had three other parties. We had the calamari, mussels, and crab cakes. For dinner we had salmon, the veal, the chicken, the shrimp, and the swordfish. The food was very good. The service on the other hand was extremely slow. We got there a bit late at around 7:40 and was seated immediately. The waitress said "you guys are the 6 top?" And sat us. We sat and were having a good time, took about 30 minutes for the waitress to come over to take our order. My husband said that we were ready to order, but I don't think she heard us and walked away. Another thirty minutes later, our appetizers came out. When we were done, we stacked our plates, which I know some waiters/waitresses don't like, and our waitress said "oh my god, what did you guys do?" She was okay otherwise, checked in on us occasionally. Forty five minutes later, we got our dinner, which came out nice and hot. We got our food at 9:20. The food was good but I don't think we will be returning. For us, the wait was not worth it. We could have gotten the same quality elsewhere within a shorter period of time. If you have time to spare and don't mind waiting a while for your food, then it would be a fine place to go. Maybe it will be faster for a smaller party? I don't know, but I wouldn't suggest you go there with your stomach too empty. read more

We had our son's wedding rehearsal dinner here and I cannot fully express how truly special it was. The service was excellent, and all the guests couldn't stop raving about how good the food was. Working with Oscar to plan the event was amazingly easy and stress-free. We were given a nice selection of starters and main courses, and the vegetarian options were very much appreciated. Went there last night ( Saturday ) about 6:30. Always very happy with the food and the menu. The dining room was about half full. For some reason it took an extremely long time to have our orders taken, appetizers brought out, and finally the main courses to the table. We love this place but might think twice before going again if we are really hungry... We didn't leave until 9:30. Not sure what the problem is. Slow kitchen staff or not nough wait staff ? They really should fix it because , other than the very long wait time , it's reallhy a fabulous place. read more

Worst service, went for mothers day. Only 7 tables, they had 2 waitress and it took over 2 hours to get food. Food came out cold as well.

This place is great for a quick bite and some cocktails. I will definitely be back nice atmosphere too.

I'm not sure how to give 0 stars or I would have. I thought it would be a good experience kind of off the beaten path in riverhead but boy I was wrong. I am not a customer that sends food back unless it's really off and I had to send my dish back three times. Portion was ridiculously small and food was prepared with more salt than my local strip mall Chinese place. Even the bottle of 'expensive' wine I had didn't taste right an had to be returned. All of this for a 230$ way overpriced dinner and to top it off the manager was rude to my buddy. Stonewalls will be out of business before jan'12, After they sucker a few more golfers in this summer. They know the flavor profiles of each portion of the meal and share their opinions which is important. Appetizers were all great no specific ''must have' but all really well balanced and tasty. Stonewalls is excellent we always have a great meal. French inspired with large portions. The price fixe may be the best bargain on the east end. We always have mussels with lots of bread for dipping. My favorite dishes are the Osso Bucco and the Short Ribs. They also have a nice 25.00 wine list. We go to Stonewall's often and find it to be an excellent restaurant in every way. It is a lovely setting, on a golf course. The service is always attentive, professional, knowledgable and friendly and the food is wonderful. The chef performs at the highest level consistently. Add to all of that the fact that the prices are reasonable, given the high quality, and you have a truly wonderful eating-out experience. The prix fixe cannot be beat! Loved this place. Quiet and intimate after a very lively day out at Long Island wine country. It was very intimate and calm and it could be considered both traditional or romantic.its very low key yet upscale. Impressive either way. I tried it for restaurant week. Atrocious. If there was a lower rating than one star I would give it. Went there with the 3 others for Mother's Day brunch buffet. There was very little variety with respect to the food, which would have been ok if it had been flavorful. Most of what was on the buffet tables was inedible. The hot food was cold and the cold food was lukewarm. The buffet was a flat $40.00 per person with NO mimosa's or bloody Mary's included. That is a ridiculous price for the paltry selection of food out. Two sides, two salads, some bread and three proteins. The "carving station" had cold ham and teeny tiny pieces of what may have been filet mignon but looked grey. My mother asked for a cup of coffee and it was $2.50 for a tiny cup. Our server was brusque and kept disappearing. We honestly felt like we were bothering her every time we asked for something (which was infrequently). When we arrived at the almost empty dining room, we were placed in a dark corner with a fern that needed trimming. We asked to be moved to the next table over which would have had a view of the golf course and were refused. My brother sat with fern fronds tickling his ear the entire time. Stonewall's used to be a great place to go for a good meal and now it is just depressing. I would never go back and nor should anyone else. I actually left the restaurant and went to Taco Bell. If your restaurant makes Taco Bell seem like fine dining then you know you are in trouble. read more
