You can't beat their $2 taco Wednesdays, it has to be the best deal in Winnetka. Salsa is help yourself out of the cooler (verde es muy bueno) and they have Negra Modelo tall boys. Eat inside, eat outside, or take to go, the choice is yours. read more

Pretty disappointed in the food here. The rice and flautas were flavorless and the chicken was hard as a rock. I couldn't cut through mine with my fork. Would recommend steering clear of them. The salsa was not good either. read more

La Taquiza Express opened last week, and today was a Grand Opening. It's good to see a restaurant in this recently vacated space, although it is small. It's more like a takeout place as there are only a few seats against the windows. I am not familiar with the other 3 locations (Northbrook, Winnetka, Glenview). I ordered the quesabirria, which was two cheesy, crisp tortillas folded in half and stuffed with beef brisket with a side of consommé. The beef was tender and juicy, the broth flavorful and just a little spicy (a little oily too). The elote I ordered was just ok. It was a generous portion but not very cheesy or spicy. This is a warm and friendly joint, although small, and I'd like to come back for brunch to try chilaquiles or other tacos. read more

We ordered a burrito and nachos. The burrito was tasteless without the sauce I had at home to add to it. I ordered nachos with chicken and nacho cheese. There was no cheese at all. The chicken was sliced like you would have in a chicken sandwich, not in nachos. The entire meal was tasteless and I am sorry I trusted an unknown place. If I could give zero stars I would. I knew there was going to be a problem when the salsa was merely an overly spiced watered down salsa roja with raw onions in it. Nothing fresh, or vibrant. The guacamole tasted like a premixed tub of " avocado puree" with citric acid to stop it turning brown. Then the asada tacos and rice. The rice tasted like it was cooked 4 days ago. Zero seasoning, no flavor at all. The tacos "looked" great. The meat tasted off. Really off. I ate none of it. My family will not be coming here. Ever again. There's plenty of other taco places in the area that are much better. I'm so incredibly disappointed. The best part of my meal was my Diet Coke. How they have 4 locations I don't know. New Mexican food place in Highland Park (opened in 2024) specializing in tacos. It's really small with only 4 seats or so, but it makes it up in energetic atmosphere. Service is extremely friendly and they were patient answering my questions, such as what is a bomba taco (similar to Al Pastor, it has pineapple and chorizo). For my first visit, I only had 2 tacos, bomba and beef barbacoa. The wait was not short which I take as a good sign of freshness. The tacos were smaller than I anticipated but oh so delicious! Their spice level was just the right amount for me. On my next visit I will have to try the enchiladas. read more

Yummy! I love La Taquiza, I usually go for a fajita burrito or the fajita bowl! It's nice that they have veggie options when I am feeling more of a lighter meal on my stomach. The veggie meals are very filling. They also have of course many different types of meat options. I tried the chicken burrito for the first time the other day and it was so delicious, I got guac added. It's in a convenient location, just around the corner from Port Clinton Square. The food is always super fast, even when they're a bit busier. I enjoy to eat my food inside, they have great tasting salsas and a cute interior. read more

Amiable owners who take pride in presentation since the place is sparkling clean and the owners are super friendly while they remain present at this family-run location, which is the newest of (I think) four locations around the north shore communities. Taco Tuesday has been a hit in HP since it opened. It will likely grow in popularity if they focus on heavily marketing the location and many locally-focused social media campaigns on Facebook groups. The tacos are legit handheld, appropriately sized street tacos, which are accurate to the origins in Mexico. Delicious pastor and the Bomba taco is a nice variation of the pastor with the chunks of pineapple. The Asada (skirt steak) was perfect, and the chicken burrito was stuffed with delicious shredded chicken, and the rest of the ingredients were well portioned. The horchata is excellent, and we look forward to trying the tres letche cake. This place is well-priced, which is fantastic! Overall, this place is a win for HP! Let's keep it thriving by supporting it regularly. The typical adult guy could quickly devour 4-5 of these tacos; I recommend spreading out your choices since they are all a safe bet regarding taste and price. read more
